Give me one good reason why this isn't being ported to Wii U, aside from pure laziness from Atlus there's no real reason why it shouldn't it originally started development for PS3 and the Wii U makes the PS3 look like a toaster in terms of power so porting it shouldn't be too hard. The only reason I can see them not doing it is if they hate money or something.
>the Wii U makes the PS3 look like a toaster in terms of power
That's wrong though P5 shouldn't really need powerful harware to run on in the first place.
As for the reason it's easy : RPG don't sell on the Wii U
Not true, Bayonetta 2 outselling 1 disproved that retarded myth for good
Hell, it is a niche game in the first place, so it doesn't need to be on a console with an abysmally small userbase too.
Just look at #FE and how well that is doing sales wise right now, being a niche JRPG on the Wii U.
Remember that that is the prime market for that type of game.
At this point, they would be better off making a Vita port. The Wii U has a very small install base, and a finicky one at that. The hassle of properly porting it to Wii U (use of the gamepad) is not worth it, and would drive up even more development time. At least with the Vita, they would know that 60% of Vita users would buy the game.
make fun of the Vita and the Wii U all you want, but the vita players buy a shit ton of games.
Especially JRPG games.
Wii U userbase mostly consists of people who like Mario and Nintendo first party games
I doubt the time and resources that would take porting P5 to a dead console are worth the extra 23k sales or so.
I think it would sell around 50k or so.
That is still shit tier and not worth it, but hey give the brand some credit at least
I love SMTIV so goddamn much holy shit just a picture of Walter makes me wanna boot thing up again
It's not dead in Japan where that main fanbase for Persona games is, it would probably sell more on Wii U in Japan than on PS3 or 4 of it was ever ported because of how successful the Wii U is there
>because of how successful the Wii U is there
the Wii U more succesful in the otaku audience (Persona fanbase) in Japan than the PS3 and PS4? How? The Wii U has next to no JRPG's at all. It now has, what, 2? Big deal compared to the hundreds of games on the PS3 and PS4 (even not counting the massive VN market which the otaku audience just gobbles up on those two systems)
that's a claim and a half. Back that shit up with a source right now motherfucker
Megami Tensei - NES
Megami Tensei 2 - NES
Shin Megami Tensei - SNES
Shin Megami Tensei 2 - SNES
Majin Tensei 1 - SNES
Majin Tensei 2 - SNES
Nintendo has always been the home of SMT. 3, DDS, Persona and Raidou only came to Sony platforms thanks to Nintendo's N64 era-and-beyond retardation.
>they only became available on Sony systems since the playstation
WiiU is where third parties go to die, if you don't have an exclusivity contract there's no reason to bother with it. WiiU users generally only buy Nintendo games on it.
Monster Hunter being the sole exception because it's basically video game crack for the Japanese.
>Give me one good reason why this isn't being ported to Wii U
Because it's being ported to the NX, where it's a platform supported by both a handheld and home console form factor and Atlus can reach the handheld market at the same time of the console market with one version of the game.
Why do you even care about third parties? I thought Nintendos first party titles are so good you don't need any? :^)
They have no home, they go where the market is. If there were as many cool RPGs on the Megadrive and PC Engine maybe SMT1's Mega CD and PC Engine CD versions would have been more successful on account of more RPG fans buying either of those systems. I don't have numbers but the sequel and other related games didn't get versions on the SNES's competitors so it feels safe to say they didn't sell well enough to justify trying again.
#FE isn't a SMT game and SMT IV final exists.
#FE wasn't a true SMT game; that's why it sold like shit.
A mainline SMT game or a Persona game on a Nintendo platform would sell far more than the same game on a Sony platform.
Hahaha, thats hilarious. You mean like Yakuza HD collection? Pretty much in all cases, games do better outside of Nintendo platforms, which is why they always port out things, since the Gamecube era.
Nintendo fans only want the same shit with every console. Even Bayonetta 2 did worst than the first game on individual consoles.
The NX is going to be a platform so powerful and versatile that everyone will flock to it, sending Microsoft, Sony and Valve to the ground.
Mark my words.
all of the other cross-gen JRPGs aren't coming to the west on the PS3 side (star ocean 5, atelier sophie, yoru no nai kuni, etc)
I still think this will come to the west on the PS3 though since Atlus promised it as a PS3 game to begin with
The downward trend started back during the SNES and Genesis era anon. Once Nintendo had competition again it showed that they were so archaic to their third-party devs that they easily jumped ship to get the fuck away.
