>>323253540 >putting that much dedication into collecting video games but not at the very least using a better video signal than fucking composite
I don't understand this shit. If someone cares that much about retro games, the very least they should do is put in some minimal effort to get better cables. Someone going all-out should get a PVM as well, but even with a consumer TV, jesus christ get an RGB-component transcoder or something. Or s-video at least.
>in my room as a kid >just brought a shitty ancient TV from my grandfather's room >plugged in my psx >play worms armageddon with my brother
I'll never be able to recapture that comfy as all fucks feeling, probably because it was the first time I could play whenever I wanted without asking my parents' permission to use the tv. And it was in my room so no one bothered me.
>want to buy a Super Nintendo >look on ebay >top fucking kek at those prices >even ones that are yellowed and crumbling apart and smeared in shit and cigarette ash go for big sums of money >fuck this shit >check out super famicoms instead >they all cost half as much even with shipping from japan included, come with bundled (good) games, controllers, cables, etc and are in pristine condition with no yellowing >mfw
Same goes with the jap games too. That game you want that costs 40 bucks in america is like 5 bucks in japan. Good thing I don't like JRPGs and other text-heavy games.
>NES was weaker than the Master System >SNES was weaker than the Neo Geo >N64 was marginally more powerful than the PSX, but had inferior sound and bullshit textures due to Nintendo's insistence on remaining with carts >Gamecube was inferior to Xbox >Wii was inferior to everything >and so was the Wii U
>>323256758 Well m8 I must be lucky, every japanese console I've bought has been pretty clean with the exception of my famicom which was covered in stickers 80s stickers, which I thought was neat and left on
And that's really besides the point. The point I was making was that in america, these ebay sellers try to peddle the most beat-to-shit consoles in existence and charge top dollar at the same time. It contrasts with the japs, who sell pristine consoles for far less and with far more extras included.
>>323256210 >get into buying ps1 games lately since i prefer owning physical copies of games >"Used - Very good" >missing manuals, cracked cases, stains on manual/inserts, scratched discs galore >even listing just the discs on their own as 'very good'
GOD DAMN IT IF IT'S MISSING SHIT IT'S NOT IN VERY GOOD CONDITION HOLY SHIT
>got my NES and all my games for free back in the mid 90s because my dad's coworker was throwing shit away >shit would go for a couple hundred total now >bought most of my N64 games for dirt cheap around 2000 when everything was in bargain bins >All the good N64 games now go for like 30-50 bucks each >bought most of my GC games throughout the 6th gen, but players choice titles were always 10 bucks >they all go for close to full MSRP now
>>323257374 >Looking for a copy of Kirby's Dreamland 3 >all prices so high I can't fucking believe it >as in, 60 dollars for an SNES game many people don't even like in the first place >see a listing on Amazon for 25 once >get excited >Fucker is selling just the box
>>323256632 I didn't mean to give that feeling, I fucking love nintendo. You can even call me a fucking hipster if you want, I paid $200 for a earthbound cart. All I meant is that he should try to have more diversity in his collection.
>>323258852 I could buy flashcarts and all for other games too, but it still pisses me off with that game in particular.
When I see overpriced copies of say Demon's Crest or Wild Guns, I think to myself "oh yeah, they must have seen it on a video of EPIC HIDDEN GEMS or some shit" and let it be.
But FUCKING Kirby's Dreamland 3? Every time I see reviews of that game, it gets compared to Super Star, rated 4/10 and tossed aside. Yet it's more expensive than buying a physical copy of Super Star. What the fuck, mang.
A few years ago I found a Mega Drive and about 20 SMS/MD mixed games in a box near the dumpster. I picked it up and brought it home. I always wanted to sell that stuff or something, but never got around to it. Then one day I wanted to clear some room so I brought the box back where I had originally found it.
>>323258852 Too be fair, they're pricey because it's one guy in ukraine making them out of his house like some 19th century cottage industry.
But they are absolutely worth it. I bought one for SNES and just bought cheap japanese versions of games like yoshi's island and starfox that aren't compatible because of chips. Cost me some money up front, but THAT'S IT. Done. No more needing to hunt and peck.
The only time I'll buy games for a console is if I already have a decent amount from when that console is current, and I just want to supplement what I already bought. But if I'm just picking up a new console, first thing I'm doing is getting a flashcart.
>>323259191 Shitters who have to compare it to another game. I don't know if you want a physical snes copy but if you really want to play dreamland 3 maybe get the dream collection? I believe it goes for about $40 and it comes with other games and extras. Dreamland 3 is rough, the only copy I ever found was at a flea market for $60. Good luck hunting.
>>323259626 I imagine vintage gamers getting packages in the mail of some shitty obscure game they paid $100+ for. saying "yaaaaaaaaay" in a really gay way out loud to themselves, and then sobbing because they have no one around them to show off their collection
>>323260403 >Kirby's Dream Land 3 uses a mode of the SNES termed "pseudo high-resolution" (which allows for color blending between two adjacent pixels) to blend dithered sprites >The cartridge also takes advantage of SA-1 technology to process game data at a faster rate, which was necessary for the large number of bitmaps and special effects used by faster releases. Looks like it.
>>323256210 >Wishing to start collecting consoles and rebuy all the classic ones I had to sell to buy the new ones each generation >Realize collecting become a hobbie by itself and you stop caring about playing them games >Just bought pic related for my softmodded Wii and a N64, plug both on my CTR and I was good to go.
Serously is the same shit, snes and nes emulation in Wii is flawless and this thing doesnt have input lag.
Im just missing a GENESIS but fuck it, I also have a gayman PC for all the other shit after gen 4.
>>323265780 I regret not doing more PC gaming when I was younger. I started with ports of Ecco the Dolphin and Comix Zone, and played a ton of SimCity. SimCity was my life. Our family windows 95 and later 98 were decebt, our Internet was garbage though so no quake, ut, half life or counter strike.
