VR is a gimmick don't pay money to beta test hardware that is years away from usability.
How stupid do you feel the first person to buy a 720p HD tv for $3000 felt when only a few years later 1080p TV cost only $1000?

>>
>>323256056
because oculus forgot that if no one buys it devs aren't going to bother making content for it so they told them to make games that no one will be able run to instead of games with source engine level graphics that enough people will be able to run for it to actually be a viable market.
>>
$600 would be acceptable, if there were any games for VR. If you aren't into hardcore flight or racing sims there is basically only Eve and a couple 30 minute indie games.
>>
>>323258282
What? FPS and interpolation have nothing to do with blurriness.
>>
the NEETs and the grapes
>>
>>323258706
if 60fps is interpolated up to 120fps, yes, that's exactly what interpolation does. It blurs inbetween frames to give you an image average.

same for 30 to 60 or more commonly 24 (movies) to 60 (monitors)
>>
>>323258117
Interpolation doesn't even make sense. You can only interpolate if you know what the next frame is going to be, but if you did you wouldn't need interpolation.

VR games for PS4 will be tuned for real 120fps. They will probably look like last gen games, but that's not too bad.

good luck

dunno how sony thinks they're gonna pull VR off on a console that can't run 97% of games above 1080p/30fps
>>
>>323259013
If they want to achieve 120 at any non-vomit inducing resolution on PSVR the games are gonna look fucking PS2-era.

This whole PSVR thing is just a really desperate move by Sony to try getting into VR even though they don't have the actual platform for it.

There's a silver lining though, it might push Sony to make their next console not a total piece of shit in terms of hardware.

https://youtu.be/WvtEXMlQQtI
"Interpolation" in this case is where they warp the last frame based upon the new frame's camera rotation (without rendering a completely new frame). It works really well if the player's standing still and isn't moving quickly. I dunno how adequate it is for typical gameplay but it sounds alright; obviously it isn't as good as rendering a new frame as usual.
>>
>>323253268

No, it uses algorithms that analyses concurrent frames and inserts intermediary frames that simulate the motions between frames, giving them a smoother appearance and actually DECREASING perceived motion blur and jitter.

Thanks for another reason not to get the rift just yet anon. PC had a great community years ago, so maybe there is a slight chance of it returning by the time VR is actually worth investing in. By then console players will probably reach 100% saturation in shittyness like the current state of PCs.

really? how can you even think about spending money on that shit after all their other failed tech projects that nobody cares about now, even the PS move is dead, it had like 1 game for it released last year and maybe 2 or 3 the year before

VR is a gimmick as far as gaming goes anyway, it will end up being used a lot more in other hobbies/fields than gaming once all is said and done
>>
The PSVR doomsayers are so funny considering it is being demoed all the time at hardware and gaming events and people only have good things to say about it.

>>
>>323260297
Just a side note. People have a tendency to program console peripherals to work with PC's. If the PSVR is lucky enough to get the same treatment, then that means VR for both your console AND PC with just one purchase. Would that be such a bad thing?
>>
>>323260736

Google cardboard will actually sell you on an oculus or vine or whatever the fuck else vr. I'm convinced people who think vr is shit have never actually used one thanks to Google cardboard. Even with the shitty quality and my cracked screen sitting around watching 360 YouTube videos, being under the ocean and shit, was amazing. I played one game where you go and look at the planets in our solar system. You have a stiff unmovable body in a cockpit of a ship and even then looking down at it I felt like I was a part of it. It was fucking wild.

Shame I can't afford and OR
>>
>>323261220
It doesn't blend frames, it analyses movement and creates intermediary frames.
It's not as good as actually rendered frames because of the unnatural computer-generated motion it creates, but it's not blurry at all and you obviously don't know what you are talking about.

I love PC friends like you and your delusions of grandeur

There are hours of proof on YouTube right now of PSVR running games that don't look like PS2 era.
There are games confirmed to be fully playable in VR like GranTurismo and AceCombat7, and yet they MUST somehow look like 2 gens old, even though we already saw in-engine footage.
Time Warp MUST be shit, even though every casual and expert alike said there were no problems whatsoever with the years old demos in that regard.

You can see live second hand experiences, read/see experts giving their opinions on it, or even get out of your chair and go to one of the handful of yearly events like I did and see for yourself, but no. you do nothing and just assume the very worst of the product you'd never buy on the first place

I have never seen anyone disappointed with Morpheus, at the very worst a mixed reaction, not any worse than Rift/Vive criticisms you can look up. For the most part everyone is happy with all of them, minor differences aside (such as Vive being the only one you'd buy if you want to move around, while in PSVR you're supposed to always be sitting or standing in place)

It's just tiresome by now, best ignore blatant fanboy know-nothings from now on

>>323260626
In curious myself, as I lack the required USB 3.0 slots. Can we really just use a USB hub? If that's the case why wouldn't Oculus just merge all 4 USB cables into one from the start? isn't there a limit of data per USB slot, in which case a USB hub wouldn't work?
I didn't pre order but I'm afraid of a long waiting line at launch too

>>323261220
here's a worst case scenario of the tech. frame by frame animation 24 to 60fps
https://youtu.be/NZfFAPii2gE
but you really don't notice the artifacts while playing, they aren't nearly as bad

>>323261291

>>323261082
Yeah, unless I can get a good set for $200 or less, I won't consider VR until it is usable on both my PS4 and PC. No reason to pay an arm and a leg for something so limited in usage.
