Why do they even bother. Fans don't want some half baked mobile shittery. This is nothing like any of the other .hack games except in maybe aesthetic. They finally make a .hack game with online interaction and its some shitty FF Record Keeper/Brave Frontier ripoff (which are both shitty ripoffs of an entire "genre" of phone dungeon crawlers where you press an autoattack because the devs are too shallow to create actual battle mechanics). Fucking Namco Bandai, just let it die if this is what you're going to do.

Honestly, it really depends on your tastes. I love the games. But the gameplay can be super repetitive. Very much a dungeon crawl experience. However, it does an incredible job building up the world and mystery of the games. Each part left me really compelled to see where the story goes next.
GU makes the gameplay a little more interesting (but still not amazing), but I don't think the plot was as good.
If you don't mind dungeon crawling and are interested in the plot, give it a try.

As far as I know, they emulate fine, but I'm not positive.
