Does anyone else think Ubisoft took a step in the wrong direction for Far Cry Primal? Being a long time Far Cry fan, I'm staying far away from Primal. It just looks awful to me. Thoughts?
what should they do instead?
I do not fucking know, but yes, I do not like the concept of Primal.
FC 1 isn't open world (it's a series of linear maps), it also doesn't really offer a "silent approach" - stealth is just an instrument to use in combat. I mean, I guess if you pretend 1 never happened...
Primal could have worked as a novelty spin-off like Blood Dragon, but not as a full retail release like it ended up.
They shouldn't do any gimmick setting. Instead, they should do Farcry in snow. Not this half-assed Autum/instanced mountain sections of 4, but just Farcy in a hostile frozen wasteland.
I'd love a proper neolithic game, but not by ubisoft cause they only make garbage. Hell, make it in the same engine (although I think it's proprietary so it won't happen) cause it looks pretty decent but modify melee so it's actually a thing, if they can do Dark Messiah from Source I'm sure some company can work something out.
Primal is one of the most boring things you could've done as a FC spin-off.
>boring setting and enemies
>script will be very basic due to the nature of the humans involved
They could have done pretty much anything else and it would've been better.
FC2 is a flawed gem.
The rest are over polished turds.
Prove me wrong.
I know, I know, but a man can dream, right?
You can get a bird to drop bombs on your enemies in primal.
Yeah, fuck off.
>want to milk people for more money so they make it full price
>give it ooga booga setting over blood dragon 2 or something else more interesting
this will flop
I didn't play 3, but I really enjoyed 4. that setting...nepal/himalaya was awesome.
will probably skip primal. everything is in some made up ooga booga language and you gotta read subtitles for EVERYTHING. no weapons beyond spears/bows, animals attacking all the time. remember how annoying the eagle in 4 was? or dog packs? yeah that's 24/7 in primal. and no co-op.
nah, waiting for far cry 5.
I've had it since I've beaten the game.
Fix the obvious things like camp respawning and guard clairvoyance and you're nearly there. The game had guts.
The rest of these fell like soppy half-hearted snore fests. Also they're gay.
system reqs and 2hr community stream
As a bow-lover of FC3 and 4, I would totally get this if it wasn't full priced. 30 maybe even 40 would be worth it.
Blood Dragon was more of a reskin of 3 than Primal is of 4. Primal atleast has its own map and the melee while being shit still atleast made some strides. You can block and throw your melee weapon now, and it being a selectable weapon is way better than "press F to melee"
Considering the story seems to basically be
>the super special beastmaster comes to town (you)
>help us clear these outposts and fight off the bad guys in masks
Expect a very generic one.
Never played it. Heard from my friend it was about mutants or something. All I know is that I've like 2 over all the rest I've payed. Like I said it needed major fixes but it seems like every game since then has went over board and the game has become shit.
I am thinking of buying Far Cry 4 for €15 in the PS Store January Sale.
It's €25 for the GOTY/Complete version with all the DLC.
Is it worth the extra €10?
I'm poor right now and the extra €10 could buy me something like Wolfenstein.
>evil PMT (Private Military Tribe) is oppressing your peoples, free them!
valley of the yetis is actually pretty good - it's like a 10 hour DLC taking place in the coolest setting of the game: snowy himalaya.
the other DLC is a pretty weird...your mission is to escape from a prison high up in the mountains and then survive for as long as possible. if you die, you have to start over (you keep skills you have upgraded).
that being said, I would always get 2 games instead of 1 game+DLC. far cry 4 the base game is like 50 hours+ anyway.
Serve 'em right.
Let 'em sink.
I bet they'll never know that their idea was fully gone retard.
Where did I claim that? The game is inherently shit but some are better than others. It had a chance to be great but it missed it. Dispute my other points though you side stepping faggot.
Ubisoft it's just trying to jump into all modern trends.
They tried to jump in the eSports trend with Siege, now they are trying to jump into survival games.
Hell, look at the new Ghost Recon which looks like a MGSV clone.
FC4 is not a good game. The DLC isn't good either.
Wolfenstein is 10x better. You could also get Dishonored for around the same price as Wolfenstein.
Thanks for the detailed response, man.
I expected a load of edgelords to tell me to stop being poor.
10 hour DLC sounds like a nice deal, but as you say 2 games instead of 1 game+DLC is usually more attractive.
I think I'll take the plunge and just get the base game and maybe Wolfenstein.
I loved Far Cry 3. Is it not more of the same? Did you dislike 3 as well?
I definitely think I'm going to pick up Wolfenstein. I also was interested in Dishonored, but I remember the reception being lukewarm at its release, hence I didn't pick it up, despite loving how it looked.
>Runnin around in snow trying to survive
>Major stealth overhaul
>Crazy new guns, some prototypes and tried and tested classics
It would be wonderful if Ubisoft ever got their shit together and didn't just do FarCry 3 again.
>I loved Far Cry 3. Is it not more of the same? Did you dislike 3 as well?
It's like a repeat of 3, except worse. Your "allies" are massive shitstains that lie and just use you.
The only likeable character is the "bad guy" and the best ending is the one you get after you just booted up the game.
While Dishonored isn't perfect it is still a good game that offers a bit different kind of experience from the norm, which is refreshing. There is a lot of choice and difference in playstyle for that game. The DLC for Dishonored (which is included in the PS4 and X1 versions of the game) is better than the main game and shows what they learned after making the main game.
You will get by far more enjoyment out of Wolfenstein+Dishonored than FC4 GOTY.
I must say i was impressed by this setting but once i saw the gameplay and how stiff melee combat system looks i think i will pass on this game.
I mean this is 2016 and the only game that made you feel how you swing was dark messiah. Oh and maybe killing floor 2, i freaking love the melee system in this game.
FC primal melee looks like halflife2, where crowbar was just a pistol with 1 range.
Yes. I hate FPS melee, and a game centered around it with some spear throwing and bow and arrow just seems like a very easy decision: NO.
good ideas with the emphasis on environmental destruction but I want an FPS.
>Your "allies" are massive shitstains that lie and just use you.
Well, thanks for the spoilers, but regardless, this seems like a standard twist for videogames.
Thanks for the detailed response anyway. Unfortunately, I only have a PS3 which I purposefully kept away from me for two years when abroad, to avoid distraction. I'm way too poor to buy a PS4 and don't really see the need to yet, anyway.
I'd be buying the Dishonoured GOTY version on PS3 via the PS Store. Would this include everything you've mentioned?
Decisions... I must say, I enjoyed FC3 so much that if FC4 was it, only slightly lesser, I'd probably still like it. My main enjoyment in FC3 was taking bases.
Thanks. For my buck, it does matter. It's the GOTY version, however, so there's more content -- I just don't know how much more.
I feel idiotic now as I also want to get the Assassin's Creed Naval Pack, even though I hated III.
I just want to zone out doing AC-stuff. I bloody loved ACII and Brotherhood was kinda ok, but Revelations and III were awful.
I was the one detailing the DLCs
I think far cry 4 improved on everything far cry 3 tried to do, especially things like interface and side missions. in your main mission you can pick between 2 paths, leading to different missions and outcomes depending on what you choose. One of the reasons I enjoyed 4 much more than 3 is the setting...I've been on tropical islands in so many games, it feels kinda stale. I've never been in a setting up in himalaya/nepal with all that lore before.
Wolfenstein new order is really good tho so I would most def get that for 10 bucks if you can.
If I were you I would get far cry 4 base game and wolfenstein and then wait until valley of the yetis goes on supersale (it was at like 60% during xmas).
Cheers man. You're a legend for taking the time.
So now I'm thinking FC4 Base game + Wolfenstein.
Also, look here:
Am I idiotic for wanting to play AC Black Flag and Rogue, considering how stale it has gotten. I just want to relive the glory of ACII.
As much as I liked the idea of Blood Dragon and how over the top it was, it can go fuck itself for forcing underwater sections.
I instantly uninstalled that game when it tried to force me to do the underwater bit at the reactor with fucking sharks. Fuck that.
>Well, thanks for the spoilers
You will not give a single fuck about the story in that game and the real truth isn't even revealed to you in the normal campaign, but in the secret ending you can get right at the very beginning for doing nothing but waiting, which is as has been said also the best ending.
>I'd be buying the Dishonoured GOTY version on PS3 via the PS Store. Would this include everything you've mentioned?
It should. It should say that it includes Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches.
>As much as I liked the idea of Blood Dragon and how over the top it was, it can go fuck itself for forcing underwater sections.
I can't even remember any annoying underwater parts in that game, so they can't have been that annoying.
Gonna be a tight few weeks money-wise, but I rarely buy games anymore, so I think I'm just gonna go with these.
I can't remember the last time a game was as universally celebrated on /v/ as TNO
Ah, everything runs poorly on a PS3 compared to a PC.
Call me a pleb, but I just like to lie on the couch with a controller. I have a laptop than can play decent games, but I hate using all its resources on games, as I edit video and music on it, so I like to have it ready to go.
I was a PC gamer in my youth, but now I'm just used to kicking back with the console and the TV, and I'm too poor to buy a PC with Steam living-room mode. I have this PS3 around 5 years now.
>No replay value
Shit, that's the biggest lie I've ever heard.
> Ubisoft took a step in the wrong direction
is it just me? everytime ubisoft take weird direction it always end up more awesome than their cashgrab main game. Its like they has more freedom on genuine game
