ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE CANADIAN DOLLARS
>display that costs twice the price of the console
Sonyggers will pay to justify their bloodbourne player
if the fucking rift costs $600 there ain't a way sony is gonna release it at that price. They'd get slaughtered. Not to mention the thing is lower spec'd than the rift AND Sony is manufacturing the goddamn thing so they can take a price cut.
The only thing going for the PlayStation VR is the content.
It's going to have a lot of actual games coming out for it like Ace Combat. I feel like the PC might end up with a lot of gimmick games and indie tech demos.
It's not going to be a whole APU. It will be a graphics coprocessor.
Most likely there will also be a new version of the PS4 based on AMD Zen/Polaris that will offer better graphics in regular PS4 games and be VR ready. Regular PS4 will be rereleased as PS4 slim and be a $250 budget option.
PS4 could handle VR perfectly fine, just not AAA graphics. Think CS:GO graphics.
>is this offical?
The Amazon listing was made by Sony Computer Entertainment Canada and had all the PR shill stuff attached.
It's not going to be. That is way too high for a consumer item, and you have to remember: This is Playstation we're talking about. It's not like some enthusiast thing you can sell on PC and reduce the price on later. If they don't sell PM they aren't gonna make games for the thing. Consoles aren't as forgiving to development as PC is.
Plus, no porn content and no 3rd-party content.
Sony's headset isn't going to be that expensive.
They've been making OLED panels for personal cinema headsets for years, so they probably have a huge cost advantage over HTC and Facebook
Technology wise it's the weakest VR offering, but it has two advantages when it comes to mainstream marketing:
1. It will work out of the box on a PS4
2. Sony has a lot of mainstream developers working on mainstream VR games (PC will probably have a lot of indie/experimental/unpolished VR games in comparison)
>Johnny likes VR but is an idort who only has a MacBook/Chromebook/Shitbook. PSVR is basically his only option.
If I had to bet though, PSVR is more likely to bomb than succeed.
>i-i-it was a real leak i swear!
>Plus, no porn content and no 3rd-party content.
you're right about porn, but no one is going to spend 600$ (or around 800$ for the rest of these world) just to watch it, when there is a 10$ alternative for that.
But what are you smoking with "3rd-party content." ? no matter how sad you find it, PSVR has the most AA to AAA games announced for it, compared to competition. And the majority are 3rd party
What games are there actually going to be on it at launch?
It will anon, believe in Sony for they exist only For The Players, they would never abandon something after they shamesly copied it from something else
LALALA I CANT HEAR YOU! PCMR! PCMR!! $1125 AMIRITE?!?!
Anyone else think the VR manufacturers already have a gentleman's agreement to launch with ridiculously inflated prices?
Why did you have to jinx it...uuuu huuuu huuu~
maybe it comes with playstaion 4 or something? It's hard to believe the price if it doesn't, especially when the'yre comptetitors are Rift and Vive. Nobody will buy this for that price.
>If I look behind me it's all black
Damn they are already getting ready to release this in Sweden
>Palmer claims consumer version of Rift will be $300 or less
>Frequently repeats and defends claim in interviews
>Claims Facebook aquisition will make it even cheaper
>Final product is twice the price
if morpheus drops at that price it's dead in the water. maybe that much for a bundle would give it a chance, but on its own there's not a chance in hell that any of the consolefags would pay that.
i doubt the price is right though considering that they've actually seemingly got developer support for this thing.
71 exclusive games from AAA to indie working and probably many of the next multiplat will be VR and some old games will be VR exclusive for pc.
GranTurismoSport. This is a PSVR game
Ace Combat 7. This is a PSVR game
RIGS. This is a PSVR game, most similar to the CS:GO example (shooter in an arena)
Not to mention multiplats like EVE:Valkyrie and even shitty EarlyAccess unoptimized scams like ARK.
And in your mind it can't run CS:GO
it does any framerate (60, 90, 120) natively, without interpolation, although it's mandatory for 60fps and advised for 90fps
In theory there can be a native 120fps game, but it would only be an indie that looks like N++ or at best an "optimized" Gauntlet / Helldivers
It really is dead at that price.
But on the other hand Sony would be the only one of the 3 willing to sell it at a cost just to build the initial market.
I can imagine a PSVR demo booth at every Playstation space in general stores and game stores (akin to guitarhero demos) at the launch period. If it was just above the price of a PS4, say 400$, more people would be interested - exponentially more (cutting a price by half will net you way more than twice the sells)
It would at least grab those rich fucks who like to show of their new toy to friends, rather than just having the super niche enthusiast market, and then from word of mouth it could perhaps sell more.
I don't see why you use that game in your shitposts, pic related was fun as fuck, crazy taxy was fun as fuck. I see no reason why that zombie taxy game would be shit.
And I don't need to believe trailers when RIGS is already playable, I know you don't care at all but you can see plenty of live gameplay on youtube. EVE too. GTS and AC7 are still far from release so nothing I can do about that.
and you are in a constant state of delusion
that, or Sony is dedicating a lot of time overlaying pre-rendered CGI "gameplay" over some footage of paid actors at E3 and all the other conventions that had PSVR builds of RIGS or any other VR game
I know, right? CS:GO is the pinnacle of graphics, the ultimate GPU burner. The main demographic of that game needs high-end PCs to download it, and then rent a super computer at the arcade to actually play it. I'm surprised they don't use it at all benchmarks
1125 CanD is approximately equal to 800 USD.
While it's not as much as people are actually shilling about, we're still seeing a whopping 200 more USD than Rift.
Get shilled on.
no, I got a pic at random from google. we already know the resolution of all VR headsets.
CSGO doesn't really look good either, so it's a perfect match.
And just because I posted it as a graphical comparison doesn't mean I like the game. I'm not the least bit interested in it, actually. horrible theme, MLG branding everywhere, shit mech designs, etc
No, it's a fucking amazon listing with a placeholder price FFS, when has any "store price leak" ever been accurate?
No one is going to spend over $600 for VR, nobody is going to spend over $400 for Sony's VR.
Oculus has a retarded price because they were kids in a candy store and over-engineered the fuck out of it dumping insane amounts of money into R&D and custom parts and developing magic fabric, Facebook saw the numbers and panicked knowing it was going way overboard and they couldn't actually subsidize all this new shit so it was pushed out at $600
Sony's VR is far more simple than the Rift and won't have anywhere near the manufacturing costs, hell even the Vive is using more simple and cheaper tech and molds at this point.
Oculus is $600 because the autist engineers fucked up with daddys credit card. I've even talked to someone who works as a supplier to Facebook in electronics and they said "They were like kids in a candy store and they got the worst deals because they had unlimited money" even the AMA basically admits this as well.
