Gamecube did so bad Nintendo got desperate and made the Wii. This is why I hate sharing a board with children, they think their opinions of things when they were toddlers means they were right.

No ONE liked Wind Waker when it released, the GCN controller was horrible and it was the start of the downfall of their third party support.

I was in high school when the gamecube released, not in preschool.

The reason the GameCube bombed wasn't because of the controller, but because it wasn't friendly towards devs. While it was easy to program for, they had tiny fucking proprietary discs that could hold only 1.4 gigs or something like that

A lot third party publishers put their games on GCN, Capcom even remade Resident Evil for them. But by the end of the GCN cycle, the 3rd party support dried up, which carried over to the Wii. But back then nintendo didn't care 3rd party publishers moved over to PS3 and 360 because the Wii was selling like hot cakes.

Then Nintendo made the Wii U and realized they alone couldn't carry a console which leads us to our current situation. The loss of 3rd party publishers didn't happen in a year, but was a long term problem. Even if NX is a godly console, it's hard to say if 3rd party publishers even trust nintendo any more to put their games on it.
