>Red's original design is finally coming back
how does this make you feel?
It's just some kind of paper holder.
Because that would kind of defeat the purpose.
>All this 20th anniversary Pokemon and Yugioh stuff to buy
Collecting is suffering.
>pokemon is 20 years old
>tfw your 24 and turning 25 soon
to be honest sempie, Ash is better, Red is just shit self-insert that got rekt by that loser Gold/Ethan/Krystal/Lyra. Also Nate/Rosa if you wanna count the PWT
But in the end, we all know Hilbert and Hilda are da bes
Don't forget what happened at the start.
These 4 episodes were better than the entire series with Ash.
They are similar, but in gen 6 it just manages to be shittier. Shauna's official art, for example.
Ash has entered the league in every region plus the orange islands and lost everytime.
What a fag, i wish he could win just once but i guess Pokemon will be a neverending story and Ash is going to walk around the entire world as long as the series exists.
>that fat pikachu
god is great
>venusaur doesn't get a game
>Substitute was not a Gen 1 move
27 here. I stopped after R/B, I dabbled with Yellow a bit, but never got farther than the rock tunnel.
I picked up Fire Red a few weeks ago, and I'm having a blast. It's like a new, bright and shiny version of my childhood.
he also won the battle frontier shit
>man is to the left, implying the male cloyster is his
>"woman" has the male onix
Pokemon = Pocket Monsters
Hanhelds = Fit in pockets
I want a new current gen stadium game tho
Friendly reminder to report and hide stuff like this. Help improve /v/ one step at a time.
I'm just sick of how small the games are. Where is pokemon world. A pokemon game with all regions in one 1, where I can play as adult and start in any region I choose. Stop this kid shit that focuses on friendship, I want to play as a trainer that wants to be a real champion.
>tfw Red is one of the best FINAL BOSSES in gaming
The rule is, so long as its not him adve Turing through the plot of one of the games, Ash is allowed to actually be one of the best trainers in the world. That's why he won Orange Island League, too.
I don't give a shit about your or their half assed excuses as to why they won't make console games.
Before, it was "but anon, it's a social game! you're supposed to meet with friends and trade!" but that flew right out the window with the wifi trading, didn't it.
I don't keep up with pokemon much these days but something tells me you're full of shit and trying to pass off promo art as proof something like this is happening.
That said it is a nice touch that one of those pokeballs is a premier ball.
I got burnt out back around DPPt, went through the motions with SS and White, and just gave up entirely after I finished the main story on the latter.
Though eventually I picked up X on a whim and it kinda rekindled my interest. I know a lot of people prefer the gen 5 games but X (and Alpha Sapphire, for all its problems its still a remake of my favorite game in the series) is what got me back into the series so I kinda prefer it to gens 4 and 5 personally speaking.
Not really. Quell your butthurt. Pokemon will always work well as a handheld game.
They already tried the console adventure thing (kinda) and nobody gave a shit about them.
>Pokemon is now 20
>I've been following it since mere months after it first started being a thing in NA at most.
Been so long, jesus.
I want a new fucking Pokemon Snap.
>Ash is better
>Has won nothing important and is continually flagged with worthless fodder since he went to Hoenn
>Meanwhile Red shitstomped the elite 4 and his rival and then went off into a mountain to fight hardass pokemon forever
He's doing amazing in XY though.
I dunno if OP's image is just washed out but I don't mind it. Kinda reminds me of the old watercolors. Not as good, though really the actual art back then wasn't amazing it just had a great aesthetic to it because of said watercolors. I'd say it was at its best around gen 3 or so since after that it just became really homogenized and boring as far as art quality goes.
I will never get this. This always happened every time he changed regions, but nobody gives a shit. The ONE time it has a reason to lose, it's the one time people keep complaining about it
I think it was implied that it was normal back in the day in one of the games.
Either way I'd assume it's closer to cousin-fucking than bestiality depending on the species of pokemon. Like if you're fucking a Luxray you're gonna get a lot of weird looks but if you're fucking a gardevoir then people probably just try to not bring it up. As long as you wait for it to fully "mature" so to speak.
While I see where you're coming from it doesn't work because you have to have your protag that people root for win when it matters sometimes.
Nobody gives a shit about Ash because he's proven to be one of the best out there but he always fuckin chokes when it actually matters, in the league. Only time he didn't was some filler season.
Soul Silver is when I realised I was over Pokemon. Silver was favourite and the battery in my cart is dead now with my 251 save gone forever, so I was really excited for SS but trying to play it I just got bored with it around Olivine City.
The Pokemon formula just does absolutely nothing for me anymore and new games just retreading it but with 100 ugly new designs has no appeal. I understand I'm not the target audience, which is kids who haven't played through the same thing a dozen times already though.
I think the main reason I still like the games is because I play them extremely casually. I just catch what I like and make that shit work for the story, and rarely if ever even bother with postgame content.
Of course it doesn't. Consider that the mainline games used grid walking until X/Y and even the gamecube ones didn't have many advanced movement options and still used the exact same battle system as the GBA games.
>Yuyu Hakusho ending
>everyone is so tired from semis a literally who wins and becomes demon king
I'm sorry did I hurt you autistic genwun feefees?
The pokemon universe is huge and hardware can support an over world similar to flying in ORAS. There are even adult trainers called veterans so why do I have to be a twelve year old?
I don't really either, just did a team up once back in Emerald when it was relevant.
But with the way the games work you don't really get much variety in the teams you can use during the campaign either. You're stuck with the same small selection of monsters available until end game and even in the games where trading is unlocked at the start most of the monsters you could trade in to try and add variety don't evolve (of have annoying evolution requirements) or learn most of their moves until lv40+ so they're boring all through the campaign anyway.
Not him but even the Ash anime has more action than Origins.
4 episodes were way to few and resulted in a lousy resume of the game story that had more dialogues than actual fights, and the few showed last like 1 minute for fucks sake.
Literally the only good thing about that anime was the punch Blastoise got on the face without giving a fuck.
Maybe they're doing this for the younger audience? I mean it'll be their first time watching and all, having Ash know all these things won't be progressive in the end.
because it's a game primarily for children :^)
Not even the best part. In DP it took a nigga with a team full of legendaries to make Ash lose the league, and he still at least beat his Darkrai and Latios. In BW how does he lose the league? To some kid that only brought 5 Pokémon.
HG / SS are awful ports. They forced players to grind so much that there's functionally no reason to play with pokemon you caught on your own cartridge.
>No EXP share until very late game.
>Route Enemies are generally 10 levels or more below the gym leader's pokemon, making their EXP gains a pittance.
>Worst grass starter.
>Early routes are 5-6 gen 1 pokemon, and then 1 or 2 from gen 2. They were too embarrassed to put their version rat and bird in the game start.
But everyone loves it because FOLLOWING POKEMON OMG. A feature they never fucking brought back, despite how great it was.
That'd be stupid if true
Why does every company think just pandering to nostalgia will increase sales of tanking franchises?
Post-modern capitalists need to get a grip, they can't manage anything for shit
Wait, how the fuck do some schmuck trainers even get legendaries? Shit sounds fucking stupid.
I always thought "legendary" pokemon shouldn't even be capture-able and should be more like boss battles in the games. It looks retarded to have some asshole kid whip out a Lugia.
Glad I dropped the anime after he got into Hoenn.
>They were too embarrassed to put their version rat and bird in the game start.
Uh, hoothoot and sentret are available in the very first patch of grass, alongside rattata and pidgey. But they were there in the the original as well. Just pointing that bit out.
The modernized Gen 1 Red looks a lot like Ash.
>black shirt underneath jacket
>same exact hair style
Ash is much better in the new series, and the main rival is legitimately powerful, but really boils down to whether or not Ash wins the league.
He lost all the leagues, but won the Battle Frontier for whatever it's worth.
>goddamn it I got that wrong.
I concede your superiority anon.
Hoothoot was only there in the PM, right? Yeah, that's why I didn't find him in my pre-dusk playthroughs as a kid.
>Forced players to grind so much
Because they made it like G/S/C and that also requires a shit ton of grinding.
>No EXP share until very late game
What kind of pleb actually uses that baby mode shit?
>Route enemies are generally 10 levels or more below the gym leader's Pokemon
A problem, but still how it was in Gen 2 to begin with. Even still, trainers are always supposed to be decently lower than Gym Leaders because those are supposed to be the strongest trainers in each area.
>They were too embarrassed to put their version rat and bird in the game start
Sentret and Hoothoot? They ARE in the first routes, you idiot.
>Worst grass starter
This is true. Chikorita a shit.
>And it's still on handhelds instead of consoles
The console pokemon games are awful though. It just highlights how boring the core pokemon gameplay actually is because the 3 hour long animations and camera panning make everything take forever.
There's no point putting them on consoles without a major, fundamental gameplay change.
He also won the Orange Islands League, which obviously doesn't mean as much as winning a main region league, but is still something.
Honestly, his progression from the original series up to DP was pretty good. I'm pretty sure BW is the only reason the "Ash is an incompetent loser" loser is so prominent. It seems to be generally agreed that he's solid in XY.
>BAIT BAIT LMAO
Man, fuck you.
He couldn't even collect enough gym badges to enter properly
The Pokemon anime is so fucking shitty, and has been from the start. It's just designed to drag on infinitely. If Ash ever won they'd have to finish the cashcow
Man I loved the first and second games so much when I had no idea what I was doing. But I don't think I can go back to the series again until they make a properly tough story mode and leveling curve. Dragon Quest Monsters got it right.
This x1000. Why can't we have a Pokemon game with every Pokemon and every region (or at least multiple regions)? Why can't we have a proper Pokemon game on consoles (Gale of Darkness sucked)? Why can't we have an official Pokemon MMO? WHY?
There are tons of Pokemon fans who grew up with RBY who would die for something like this.
>he doesn't give his pokemon the most luxurious accommodations possible
that's BW for you
they tried to make ash as retarded as possible in that season for who knows what fucking reason
Ash was great in DP, then shit in BW and then great in XY again
that's why people hate BW so much
Remember at Unova they were trying some weird soft reboot thing where they were originally trying to ignore all previous seasons as much as possible so that new children would not be confused if they referenced something from 2 or more regions ago.
it really is a case that shows how much they should replace Ash or at the very least downgrade him to be a commonly reoccurring character or into a Brock/Misty tier main one.
But he is way too popular and well known now to actually do that since now it would be like trying to replace Sonic or Mario
>Machoke throws a hadoken
I dont hate this
That's what I thought they were gonna do with May for the Hoenn region. But they had to go and make her do the contest shit. Gay.
>To some kid that only brought 5 Pokémon
You forgot to mention he was packing Lucario, a species that has a higher win rate than the likes of Pikachu.
If I remember correctly they actually tried it with Dawn but reverted it because the backlash was bigger than expected.
I think something like the first 4 or 5 episodes was nothing but Dawn with next to no Ash shown
Yeah, but his reminded me more of the opening for SSF2 than that fagshit that Lucario does.
I'm certain they were referencing that.
I'm willing to bet that was coincidence because again, most pokemon in the anime use the exact same motion for the move.
I'm not saying it wasn't cool as shit though. Just not sure it was an intentional reference.
>All these Pokemon thread lately
>Pick up OR again
>Completely forgot that I put all the pokemon I had in X in OR
>None of them have any items
>Have to grind the battle mansion all over again in OR
>Loose all motivation
Fuck this shit, I'm not going to fight that RNGesus/Hax driven place again.
He is the Mike Ross of the Pokemon world
>don't play for a long while
>have a shit load of Pokemon in my Pokebank
>the more pokemon saved up and held in the bank, the more "points" you accumulate to trade for BP
Good shit 2bh pokefam
Holy shit, FINALLY. I always preferred the original design to the one in FR/LG. I hope nobody will mistake him for that loser of Ash though.
>Tfw your last pokemon get charmed, confused and paralyzed by a fucking Pachirisu in the battle mansion
I hate this place so fucking much.
>something something your mom
suck my ass
FEEEED ME SEYMOURRRR
IM JUST A MEAN GREEN MOTHA
Glad to see Red and fat Pika back
he's right. the whole thing was retarded shit lapped up because shaky cam
>hyper beam from eyes
Man, you know they did that for shits and giggles
>he couldn't even get past the regular battles, let alone supers
git fuckin gud kid
But he's still happy not being alone, he even spent a fortune just to free his friends from the labor camp
That time he was crying not because he had no money, but because he would have let the other guys down
I still have to read the manga tho
Does anyone else prefer gen 1 and 2 because of how much more simple and realistic the world was in those games? There are pokemon designs in every gen I love and hate so I understood why people complained about newer designs. I think over time I've grown to like gen 1 and 2 the best because they had a real urban feel to them, maybe like the mother games.
most overrated battle. bulking all that shit was pure plot armor, too many CGI beams, jerky animation and QUALITY because they were clearly saving budget for XYZ. plus only fighting autism cats is weak for a seventh gym, they could have easily had slowbro/slowking as well, and fit some hawlucha/noibat bro-op.
was only arguably better than valerie's gym, and not by much.
Are you really aroused by that gif? Shit's so tame not even soccermoms complained.
After gen 2 is where things started getting too kid friendly. Everyone you talk to is completely obsessed about pokemon, in an extremely unrealistic way.
It'd be like us if we talked about animals 24/7 and only animals.
ha ha, yeah, that would be weird, ha ha.
But they already celebrated the anniversary by releasing the perfect game.
Step aside, plebs.
>the Kalos region is mentioned
>Oak insists that there are only 149 species
I think they keep up with the Americans pretty well, they still lose though
They also tie with the Americans in the all star games
I think in the end it was like 4 losses to 10 wins
>People actually fell for this
Wow holy shit you guys are fucking retards, to expected since OPs pic is from tumblr
Theyre releasing some first gen games on VC, the ONLY difference being is that you can do local wireless trading instead of either having no connectivity/needing a link cable.
Might also have battling capabilities but not sure on that
>GOD DAMMIT ASH YOU KNOW THIS
>WHY THE FUCK CAN'T YOU LEARN ANYTHING
>GETTIN' TIRED OF YOUR SHIT
No, it's just gonna be PissYellow. Their new business model is
>Pair of new gen games (X/Y)
>Pair of remakes that haven't been made yet (OR/AS)
>Re-remake of the third issue of older games
For example, next gen will be
>Pokémon Smooth Pearl and Sharp Diamond
>Pokémon Body Crystal
I can't wait to play pokemon yellow on my 3ds with my daughter
>using anything else than pokeball
Only ones to look better in the original 100% are Brock and Misty. Ash and Red comparison doesn't mean shit, and all the rest are better in Origins by a long shot, except for possibly the mom character.
>he doesn't think static chests are sexy
I don't know what you are talking about.
Ash has best girl, Serena. He wasn't even attracted to the other girls.
>ANOTHER remake after a remake
>it's a remake of a game that already got a remake
I wouldn't even give GF my time of the day
I secretly hope they do this so I can be done with buying mainline Pokemon games for good.
I can always play Gen 5 and HGSS if I get the itch.
>When did Ash become a battle genius?
the problem is that people tend to compare the anime to the games and think ash is a moron because he doesn't battle the way regular people battle in the games and completely miss the point of the character
He's not attracted to her either though. It's always been people pushing their own fantasies on him.
Females get cycled in and out all the time cause they're just that expendable.
Pokemon Origins is a failure for reasons other than comparing it to the other anime. Here's why:
- Every fucking fight is the same. "Red's team is pushed to the limit but he comes from behind and wins with Charizard"
- We hear so much about how Red loves and cares for his Pokemon but all he ever gives a shit about is Charizard
- The "gotta catch em all" bullshit also ties into the above; he treats Pokemon as things in a list and doesn't raise any of them, as shown when he catches a Fearrow despite already having a Spearrow
- The loving and caring Red considers THROWING A ROCK AT CHANSEY because lol that's what you do in the game what a great guy
- Immersion breaking game mechanic shit that takes you out of the story like visible HP bars
- Purports to be truer to the game mechanics but has shit like a fucking Rhydon OHKOing a Jolteon with an electric attack
Origins is garbage
Giselle still the only girl he ever wanted
>violating your rights since season one
I assume Misty is the Squamate
Different holes have different textures. Some are tight, some are looser, some have lots of nubs that rub the tip of your penis, some stimulate the base of the shaft, some are covered, while others are straight, et cetera, et cetera.
There's a reason why some guys liking having sex with multiple women.
>Gold beat Red in the games
>Ash beat Gold in the anime
What kind of husband hole does Shauna have?
ten year old tight?
If I want to play the pokeyman games in what order should I go through the gens? I kind of just started with LeafGreen/FireRed since I figured they'd be better than the base game. Did I do good? If not what do. If yes, how do I continue? HeartGold/SoulSilver?
The only reason Red is Champion is because everyone else in the show is insanely incompetent. How shitty a trainer do you have to be in order to lose to a guy who's only strategy is "throw everything you have without thinking until something eventually works"? Guy never even trains his Pokemon properly. Everything other than Charizard is shit.
He said nothing of the sort. In fact he was the only one of the group to know what a Koffing was. Another one of the "you have a thousand reasons to shit on BW but you pick the one that makes sense"
>tfw bought a bunch of cards but never learned the rules
I also bought 2 copies of a starter deck hoping to get new cards. I might have been a stupid kid.
So does anyone else here play the online version of the TCG? I never see it mentioned here.
In the show, Gym Leaders are more often than not more skilled than their game counterparts, in part because they're capable of techniques and tactics that really aren't even remotely possible in the games in anyway, such as freezing the battlefield to make maneuvering more difficult. Their battlefields are also often designed to give them an inherent advantage. It's not just "Use Bubble! Enemy Geodude was defeated in one hit!"
Ash's opponents are generally always as strong as the writers need them to be. Some kinda reverse plot armor. This often results in this really bizarre situation where the Gym Leaders' skill levels are all over the goddamn place, so the second Gym Leader's some kinda master tactician while the sixth's a shitty novice or something.
If nothing else, I suppose we should be glad that Gym Leaders don't just give their badges away anymore like in Kanto.
>people still fall for this bait
>people actually thinking Origins was good just because they have a hate boner for the anime
Except Iris was fucking shit in Best Wishes. Cilan was cool, maybe, but come on.
I didn't say I liked the rest of the show.
But she was cute. Isn't that what matters most for girls?
Not brown enough.
>falling for Gamefreak's babby's first waifu
Not when she was such a piece of shit.
Why isn't the anime like this?
Even as a kid I could never get into the anime because the calling out attacks thing was always awkward as fuck. And it looks especially cringe worthy there
"Stoutland, use Bite!" Just, fuck. What's the point of having the trainers there? Just ruins any pacing in the combat and makes the whole thing feel awkward
Why aren't the games like this? Why does Gamefreak continue to rehash the same tired formula, but with a few more bells and whistles attached? Pokemon could be so much better if they stopped assuming kids were retarded and fleshed out or revamped the combat system.
Been a while since I last saw it but
>major reset of Ash's abilities and knowledge.
>Ash losing to a newbie due to a power-down that shouldn't have been an actual problem,
>forgetting basic shit like Pokemon genders and type effectiveness
>a more serious Team Rocket, which could be bad or good, depending on who you ask, but they barely show up much anyway, if I recall, and when they do they end up not doing much.
>a lot of his Pokemon were stupidly underpowered, or uninteresting
>a plot that was set up from the very beginning cut off due to Earthquake/Tsunami, was going to showcase Team Plasma
>lost to a guy in the league with 5 Pokemon and the last being a Riolu that was almost defeated then evolved last minute and won, and a lot of stupid decisions in between.
>That guy lost to a guy with a party of Eeveelutions
>last arc was a bunch of pointless filler for Ash's journey back home. Charizard came back, but even that wasn't worth it.
DP, while dragging on, I felt had at least some interesting bits going on, but Best Wishes dragged on and didn't really try. It was sort of fun while it was airing, but it just shot itself in the foot so many times that it didn't have a leg to stand on.
You know, if they could hire good voice actors for the dub, I wouldn't only acknowledge Pokemon in Japanese. I know it's for kids, but so is Disney's stuff and most anime games have better English voice acting than this now anyway.
it's not just the voices, it's the music. that trailer kept the OST but the show and movies change it completely.
Even if that weren't the case, how the hell is a Jolteon one-shot by a special electric attack from a Rhyhorn? Unless the Jolteon was insanely underleveled, that would never happen.
Which is probably what happened here. Origins Red doesn't actually train his Pokemon. Aside from Charizard, everything is insanely underleveled.
What the fuck am I reading
That's not even the problem, if that Jolteon happened to have Quick Feet instead, it should have been a lv100 Rhyhorn against a lv23 Jolteon to oneshot it, thus proving that Red literally doesn't give a shit about anyone but Charizard.
>Why does Gamefreak continue to rehash the same tired formula
Because it works, and that's what they're going for. The "few more bells and whistles", as you call them, IS them "fleshing it out". This isn't about them thinking kids are retarded, this is about Gamefreak not being fucking stupid and keeping a game how it's supposed to be.
There isn't a reason to just throw something out the window and create something from scratch for the sole purpose of being new if you have something that work and fits. If you want a nice, simple game, like Pokemon, you play Pokemon, if you want something different, play one of the side-games that actually explore different play styles or play a different game.
And that's the issue. The whole anime is just a commercial for the latest pokemon game and it doesn't do enough to raise beyond that. Yugioh is much the same way, yet it managed to push a little harder to have its own identity beyond selling the latest pack
Until they create a series separated from the idea of selling the games I don't imagine it will ever be any good.
Reminder that Chronicles was the best Pokemon anime.
This is one of the things I liked about Digimon. The humans only talk when needed, only providing items for their partners and nothing more.
I mean I get it; Thematically it makes sense. But yes, if it were just the pokemon fighting then the action would be smoother and less awkward
Or at least, give the trainers/aspect of commanding the pokemon more depth. Just calling out an attack makes the trainers feel unneeded. I don't know how to fix it personally, but
There would be no point to the trainers if they didn't tell the Pokemon what to do. It's not like in Digimon where the humans are actually necessary for shit like evolution. And in all subsequent shows after Adventure, the humans were actually necessary for more than just friendship power.
In Tamers, the humans actually merged with their Digimon to achieve their Ultimate evolutions. They also used cards to power up their Digimon early on.
In Frontier, the humans actually turned into Digimon themselves.
In Savers, the main human beat the shit out of enemy Digimon himself. In fact, he's the one responsible for taking down several of the main villains by punching them to death.
In Xros Wars, the main human is the general leading his army and issuing commands.
God I remember being on /vp/ for BW/2, and I remember when this came out, everyone was flipping their shit.
>Tfw XY/ORAS killed Pokemon with Mega Evolution crap and the transition from 2D to 3D
>lost to a guy in the league with 5 Pokemon and the last being a Riolu that was almost defeated then evolved last minute and won, and a lot of stupid decisions in between.
Not to mention the guy not only thought it was a different league, but wasn't even properly registered until Ash fucking reminded him about it.
>Just calling out an attack
that's the trailer and origins. they give other commands in the main show.
>Yugioh is much the same way, yet it managed to push a little harder to have its own identity beyond selling the latest pack
I disagree. DM fucked up the Egyptian RPG arc because it wasn't about duel monsters, GX's plot didn't kick in until the second half and was just about people trying to become pro duelists, 5D's tossed Aki aside just because Crow's deck was selling better, and Zexal refused to acknowledge fusion or synchro because they were trying to push XYZ. Never watched Arc V, though.
I know it works and I know they won't bother changing the formula, but their added tedium of abilities, IVs, EVs, and natures sort of cancels out the claim that they want to keep things simple, in the same way that online trading and battling cancel out the common argument that Pokemon is a handheld franchise due to its social aspect. Furthermore, would you say that Mario transitioning from 2d to 3d was an necessary change?
They did. Ever since Advanced Generation, they've been trying to make Ash's position less superfluous by having him constantly come up with strategies and tactics. Half the time, even his own Pokemon aren't sure what the hell he's trying to have them do until they actually do it. Without his commands, they'd lose half their battles. So it's not just issuing commands anymore.
Unfortunately, this has the consequence of allowing actions that are literally not possible by any means in the game, such as using Flare Blitz while underground to eliminate Toxic Spikes.
