It wants to be the most super awesome game ever by being warhammer, zelda and devil may cry all at once without having any real greater reason behind its designs.

2 is even worse in this regard, Darksiders 2 should be held as an example of "Bad game design 101".

I would be fine with how much it rips off left and right if it didn't also have this kind of warhammer-y "ultimate epic badass" tone. It's not like it isn't fun to play, but either you appreciate what it's doing (either ironically or seriously) or you risk rolling your eyes to death.
