The reason, I think, that Demon's Souls still looks and feels the best out of any of the souls games (to me) is that it has the fewest flaws.

Certainly the highs might not be as high, sometimes, but in general there's very little wrong with it. Every area looks good, every area is themed properly, all enemies fit the setting and area, every boss is flavorful and enhances the general feel (with the possible exception of Phalanx), all weapons look/feel good (even the few that are kind of worthless are nice thematically), all NPCs are good, and so on.

There's minor nit-picks of course, but by and large the game succeeds at everything it does. That's a pretty rare thing.

1) Magic is possibly the most op in the franchise with its magic meter system (though i wish it would return, being more balanced in a future souls game)

2) The blank slate class, rather than making the game harder to begin with, makes it easier (You start out with a ring that fucking regenerates your magic, along with a spell and catalyst to use it with)

Other than that though it was the most brutal of the currently existing three, so cash

I played Dark Souls 1+2 first and practically breezed through Demon's Souls. Had great trouble with Bloodborne though.

I think that rather than being overpowered, magic was just easy to use. For most of the game you could accomplish similar feats with a bow, just without a shield and with the advantage of aiming. Also I suppose you had to devote the weight to carrying arrows.

But to get the really powerful stuff you needed some specific combinations of gear and spells, which required you to beat maybe half the bosses in the game, and at least one or two archdemons. By the time you could use the insanity catalyst to firestorm things, you were already in the endgame and had faced down two of the three hardest bosses (flamelurker and maneaters). Even then you needed to be a high level with tons of int and magic to have the mana and spellpower to make it work, which also meant you couldn't have good supporting stats.

Even then, given how False King's (the last of the trio of hard bosses) attacks worked, magic wasn't even that helpful against him.

In comparison, with a bit of effort you could get a sticky compound longbow +5 much earlier, use it with much lower stats, and do pretty comparable damage. Just replace buying spice with buying arrows.

Lava bow has a lower potential damage and requires you to beat a later boss to get. You can get almost all the stones you need for the sticky bow in 2-1, and the bow itself in 4-1 fairly early. You literally need to beat two bosses to get it to +4, and three to get it to +5 (pure spiderstone is after Armor Spider, right?). Get to 4-2 as well and you can get Patches to sell you heavy arrows, and you're done.

The only real advantage of the lava bow is that it has some hit-stun. Also I guess it's low scaling (almost non-scaling) so you can slot it effectively into most builds, since it only requires 14/16 str/dex to use, or something like that.

Also the sticky bow only needs to get to +3 before you can start upgrading it, while the Lava Bow needs to be +7.

I can kill him easily but still have some trouble, It's pretty mixed with that boss. Some people can kill him while taking no damage their first time and others think its the hardest boss in the entire souls series.

Even the basic character control is fucked. I don't know the word for it, but your character almost moves on a fucking grid. You can point the stick into the corner and your character will walk directly forward. It's fucked, it means all your movements are weird and inaccurate because your character doesn't mimic the stick movements.

He was the only boss to kill me more than once in my first playthrough (besides Dragon God) so in that sense he was the hardest boss in the game, but it really depends on what gear and playstyle you're using at the time. Still hardly compares to the majority of the bosses in the other games. DeS' difficulty came almost entirely from the levels.

Yeah, it is the worst, along with the retarded as fuck acceleration on the right stick. There's a fix for the movement angle deadzone shit on PC but I grew tired of the game long before that came out so I haven't tried it.

I think you might be retarded mate. Try moving directly forwards in DS2, then compare it to moving directly forwards in the other games. In DS2, an angle of 345° or 15° has the same effect as 0° because there's a massive angular deadzone, meaning you have to turn the fucking camera just to precisely control your character.

I don't own it so I can't confirm, but I'm pretty sure it's not fixed. In the description of that fix it says you can fix it for SOTFS by using the 64-bit version of 'Durazno' with some specific config settings.

I consider the control of your character to be a pretty damn basic, important part of gameplay. If you get control of your character and it immediately feels awkward then something is not right. Character control affects any further gameplay there is.

This is what happens when you take a next gen engine and strip it back to make it work on last gen consoles. If Dark Souls 2 was next gen only then it would have looked like Bloodborne but they wanted to get the wider install base at the time and release it earlier in order to not compete with BB.
