So I got this damn thing to use on my PC (I don't have Xbox One).
I was told and read everywhere that all you had to do was plug it in via micro-usb cable, you didn't even need batteries.
I am running windows 7 and the damn thing won't connect, it keeps saying the drivers failed to download. I do a search for the drivers to install manually and every source links to the xbox support site where the drivers are no longer available because they are supposed to automatically download now.
How do I get this damn thing to work, all sources are telling me the same thing and I can't find any answers.
Thanks in advance.
>literally, LITERALLY deciding to downgrade your control scheme and PAYING REAL MONEY FOR THIS GIMPING PROCESS
I wouldn't trust M$'s support page for troubleshooting honestly. They have a rep for providing false info all the fucking time.
It also feels much better. Shoulder buttons are the best I've ever used and the D pad has such a satisfying click.
The only thing I don't like is the sticks can just pop off with enough force underneath, but the chances oftat happening are slim enough.
I just use this thing and x360ce.
Its actually better then the 360 controller for emulation because the dpad is so much better.
And once you setup the anty dead zone in x360ce you can play games like souls or MGSV perfectly.
This is the pinnacle of d pad technology; it's ultra responsive for fighting games and it doubles as an analog stick all controllers should just have three of these. That said is that flat d pad better or worse than the 360 one?
>go into gamestop to find a title they had listed online
>counterfag is shilling a customer on how the elite is "a $150 controller"
>title listed online wasn't on their shelf at all
>"are you guys hiding any 360 games back there?"
>they lie to me, I can clearly see 360 cases behind the counter
>pull open a drawer full of 360 games to fetch for another customer
>didn't get the game I came for
>Browse computer for file
>Pick driver from a list
Something like that anon. Mine was plug-n-play, but I had to do this for my 360 pad a couple times.
Have you tried installing the xbox app?
I don't know if you can download windows store apps on 7 but give that a shot.
You are supposed to be able to configure the elite controller with the xbox app
yeah, this is what I wanted to do but the drivers aren't on the MS website anymore since they are supposed to download automatically now apparently.
Xbox App is windows 10 only. You can't configure the controller unless you have windows 10 but it's still supposed to work on windows 7.
I fear this might be the case ;_;
OP, if you pirated windows 7 and don't have Service Pack 1 installed, you're fucked. That's what happened to me, had to completely re-install W7 with SP1 before I could use the XB1 controller. But you know what? It was fucking worth it. Best controller for PC gaming imo.
>There will never be a modern controller with a microswitch stick.
Well I mean aside from the PDP pads but those only have one and a button layout only for fighting games so they're incompatible with every else so, JUST FUCK MY SHIT UP FAMILIA!
The controller still uses the wireless frequency to send the input data to the system/wireless receiver. You're still going to need the wireless receiver.
Holy shit 30+ posts in and no one mentioned this yet?
You should check if you have
>Update for User-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2685813)
>Update for Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2685811)
installed, they resolved all issues I had with my Xbone controller.
It's a d pad it just has the correct shape to work as an analog because it's a thumb stick and not four directional buttons.
I guess there would be deadzones so it's not the penultimate analog stick but the ncpc thumbstick could probably be remade today as a true analog an still retain the springy responsiveness that made it a great d-pad.
