What games let me operate?
Does anything reasonably modern stack up to SWAT4? Or do I need to go all the way back to classic R6?
you literally need to operate every during every second you're alive or else you die
Is this a bad joke?
If Siege is now what qualifies a tactical shooter, so does CoD/CS and BF.
And thats just in regards to its nonexistant gameplay, between the hackers and shitty netcode the game is near unplayable at a tactical level anyway even if the game did have tactical features, which again, it doesnt.
I literally thought you were kidding at first, but I see you are actually serious.
Thats just sad anon, for your sake I hope you are either so underage you have never played a real tactical shooter or a marketer.
I dont know where this 'tactical RS' bullshit came from
All the games are pretty non tactical. In my mind tactical games are ones like Arma/PR/Squad/SWAT4, where you have massive autism levels of cooperation and coordination.
Honestly, even PvP wasn't tactical. It's a lot faster than Siege and the Vegas games and revolves around crouch sprinting and grenade spam.
>where you have massive autism levels of cooperation and coordination
Oh, you mean like this?
It's not as much auto-aim as much as the AI being dogshit in the old games with terribly slow reaction times, especially when turning, even on the hardest difficulty. THis was easily exploitable whether or not you used auto-aim.
I think Raven Shield was a lot better, but I'd have to boot it up again.
I don't see what's the deal with SWAT4. I recently reinstalled it and noticed the swat AI is utterly retarded. Tell them team to breach-bang in any room with more than one enemy (or one enemy that doesn't surrender immediately) and you are almost surely going to get one of your guys incapacitated.
I wish they made a new SWAT game.
Anyways, a list of games off the top of my head:
High Caliber 7.62
Breach and Clear (Not that good, ignore Deadline because it went the zombie route)
Man of Prey
Jagged Alliance games (JA2 with 1.13mod is considered the best)
Silent Storm games for WW2 operating I guess.
SWAT4 + expansion
I'm sure leaving a lot of games but this is a good list of operating/tactical games.
Swat4 has garbage AI to the point that you should be doing everything yourself as point man and leave your guys as fire support in the back. It's basically the only way to get over 90 on each level.
Also, it was buggy as fuck and half the time your non-lethal weapons won't work.
>Man of Prey
Would play more of that, but by the third mission where you are defending your apartment from civilians, the game lags to shit due to all of the npcs.
>High Caliber 7.62
That any good?
>That any good?
That up to you to decide I guess. I personally like it and it gets mentioned a lot in threads like this one. Play it with a mod called Blue Sun.
Feel free to check some youtube videos, it's very similar to Man of Prey.
The fundamental difference is level design and game systems. CoD/BF even on HC still don't have the same engagement time as R6S and their weapons, physics and map design aren't built from the ground up for methodical, close quarters play and teamwork.
It's like saying R6S the same as CoD because there's a sprint feature; sure you could bust into a sprint and try to knife a dude in R6S, but the amount of noise it makes gives you away so fast and one stray bullet from ANY gun in the game to the head will kill you, so you've basically just alerted the entire enemy force to relentlessly assfuck you on the spot.
So yes, while you can do much better in CoD/BF being in constant communication with your team, it carries you less distance then R6S does. Siege is all about intel to the point where it pretty much becomes the gameplay. It isn't really a FPS as it is a practice in rapid intel acquisition and creative thinking, which makes it the best modern operating game.
