I don't know if I agree with this. The lore is decent and the world is meant to feel huge. The world in Xenoblade was just as big and just as barren in the sense you guys are describing it, but it was no worse of a game for it.

Not to mention this game feels like Monster Hunter, which I kinda' like.

Yes, you collect literally every single item that you find in the world and combine them nonsensically to create consumable items.

The thing I liked about DD originally was how much it felt like an actual adventure.

Every big beast I killed was rough, but it felt like this was actually how well seasoned adventurers would fare against the creature of choice.

I'm torn between Mystic Knight or Magic Archer. I switched to them and Warrior every now and then. My problem is what I'm going to make my pawn. I'm thinking I'll make her a Sorcerer this time because when I played my classes, she would always be what I changed from (If I change from Warrior to Strider, she'd become the Warrior, if I was Mystic Knight or Magic Archer, she'd be Warrior or Strider). The lack of enemies (70% of the games enemies are goblins and lizards), the way class progression forces you to play classes you are not planning on playing and punishes you for trying out a lot of different classes are some real flaws

If mods become a reality and we can somehow randomize or alter enemy spawns and increase difficulty at higher levels I'll bust a nut. The game getting too easy that it bored me was the only thing that kept me from playing after level 200.

It's the npc party system, each player creates their own pawn who they adventure with and can recruit up to two extra pawns made by other players.
