Shouldn't you be on gamefaqs making posts about how hammer is obsolete?
>le hammerbro meme
Hammers are cancer, even moreso now that they won't stop whining about KO phials. I get more KOs with HH players in my room than hammerfags launching everyone into the stratosphere with the cuck spin
Honestly I main switch axe because it's a fucking brain dead weapon that has one use: do damage.
Lately I've been learning to launch my friends to do more jump attacks on monsters. I wouldn't try that online though, I'd imagine people wouldn't like it.
>tfw I always explode everywhere and knock my friends forward
Charge blade seems fucking stupid in how easily it knocks monsters out. I could wail on a monster's head forever with a hunting horn but as soon as a charge blade user looks their way BAM dizzy.
>mfw when I know I'm a bro

Anything of actual worth to contribute to the conversation?
>accidentally hit someone with the LBG
>they're stunlocked in place for the full 5 rapidfire shots
>they get steamrolled by the monster
At least accidentally sending someone flying gives some invincibility
Not really; the only weapon that's noticeably worse than others is LS and the only weapon that's blatantly overpowered is IG.
Who said anything about weapon strength? Also, are you inventing your own definition for the word "tryhard" because you're not making any sense
>DB wanders over near me while the monster is toppled
>demon dance demon dance DOUBLE DEMON DANCE
>tripped for days
>"heh just move away kid. what's the matter, can't move at unsheathe speed with weapons drawn? can't demon dash?"
Anyone? Bowguns are neat but I still love the sheer madness of optimizing bow use
Wait what's the problem with insect glaive again? the DPS? I had heard the main gimmick was to get the white buff then the red buff and go fucking nuts, I guess it's not worth the hassle to collect buffs = lower DPS overall ?
I don't actually have the game, still fucking around on freedom unite because poorfag
>some are clearly better than others
just IG and CB, and even then CB is only overpowered for utility/guarding. sounds like you're just shit with most weapons bucko
too much damage, permanent super armor for free, mount spamming is overpowered (and IG are basically required for mounting in certain areas)
It's good, it just that when someone on your team is mounting too much it slows down the fight.
As for the weapon itself, it's pretty bland. You basically position yourself well and do the same combo, whereas other fast weapons like SnS and DS you're moving around the monster more.
X fixes that with styles, Aerial IG is fun as fuck
Unfortunately, the best support outside of HH is still to just kill things as quickly as possible. There are some items that heal the whole party though that you can farm, but nothing special for the bow that is actually good for support.
>too much damage, permanent super armor for free
>these are negative things
I don't get it?
I thought the rule with mounting is if it's 2 hunters (or solo) then you do it because it's higher DPS but if it's 3 or more you don't bother because it slows down overall DPS while you do the minigame to knock it over?
Also I thought you could only mount two times or something? if you try to do the third you have to waste a lot of time trying to start the minigame?
Shit. Why can't this game just be on wii U goddammit, fuck handhelds.
oh i thought you meant why do people consider it overpowered. there is no problem with the IG, but there's a lot of shitters who play it that spam aerial attacks, miss juices and cart a ton.
Err, not really. S&S, Bow and GS don't trip at all unless you're literally right in front of them. Lance only trips with the charge
>literally just repeating what he said
Nice argument, shitter.
Well yeah, that's a good to do thing efficiently. But if you're playing with friends, it's good to just mount at good times when people need to sharpen and what not. It's pretty boring when an IG user just mounts all day and you spend half the fight just waiting for the animation to finish.
Greatsword is literally the scrubbiest weapon with the lowest skill ceiling
"high level" GS play consists of
>run around sheathed until opening
>crit draw attack, sheathe, run away from danger
>crit draw level 3 for big openings, sheathe, run away from danger
>level 3 -> slap -> level 3 smash -> level 3 swing -> sheathe -> run away from danger
>repeat this boring ass fucking routine and still manage to shit more damage than most other weapon classes for virtually no effort
>heh, that tactic is shit kiddo
>it's literally what every 140 speedrunner does
>send them flying
>they manage to mount the monster
I think this happened once, maybe.
Since we're talking about MH4, in which quests can I hunt the Yian Kut Ku and the Velocidrome? Because there seem to be absolutely none.
>playing unpopular weapons (plus SnS, which is probably OP's main) means you're a bro
>using popular weapons means you're gay
I love the contrarian meme.

FUCK THESE FUCKING NIGGERS

>Running away from the monster? Imma roll into you and trip you so you take 6 feet of monoblos horn up your tight little boipussi
>Climbing up a reallly big wall? Imma time my roll juuuuuust right so that it hits you and knocks you off the wall the second you climb up so you go all the way back down and have to do it again
>About to get a sicknasty level 3 strike? I'm gonna fly right in front of your attack out of nowhere and cause you to bounce, hope you've got mind's eye bitch
>Need to hit this part on the monster? Nah, Imma just chill here and make you bounce off if you try to hit me
literally 20 octillion hitlers on the hitler scale, not even bull 'I'm going to ram your ass from across the map' fango is as bad as these annoying motherfuckers
>4U: Could play with other weapons whenever I get bored of CB, except IG.
>X: Stopped giving a fuck about other weapons in order to dedicate all my time to mastering the rebalanced CB, which includes learning to snipe AEDs in Guild/Striker now that you can't GP -> AED anymore.
>have endgame setups for both

>Elder bro tier
Sure is bro when you're blasting everyone around like a retard while doing shit damage.
I really wanted to like Gunlance, but unless X seriously revamps it or rebalances other weapons I can't see myself picking up the boomstick again.
I wouldn't say it's useless. I get way more consistent KOs when it matters with hammer than I've seen most CBs get. Damage is rather good as well, although I'm not sure how charge scales up the raw damage on superpound because I can't into maths. I still prefer GS over it because when soloing I'm not stuck with not getting tails.
Gunlance doesn't do shit damage, and the only one that knocks people around is Wide (which can shoot vertically on most monsters to avoid hitting teammates).
>LBG is good but only if you use the weapon properly
What was the point of this post?
Pierce shots are only good on certain monsters; not to mention you need to aim even more precisely with Pierce shots than you do with LBG so I'm not sure how your "criticism" wouldn't apply to HBG as well. Seregios LBG does good damage - better than elemental versus certain monsters. Sounds like you're either retarded or are just complaining about shitty gunners.
Well it looks like I'm gonna do GS or DS in X until I can save up for a good IG.
>Hammer has no edge over any other weapon
yea sure I guess if you ignore the fact that it does a shitload of damage
>actually falling for the gunlance is bad meme
you forgot to add "shells don't scale!" to your bait post
>mfw dunking Silver Rathalos mid-poison claws with a mid air super pound, then landing in front of his face and triple pounding him for the kill
Do you guys have any pet peeves?
>hammers/HHs who don't attack the head/break parts
>blademasters who don't cut tails
>gunners who use pellets/wide shots
>Getting knocked out of a level 3 charge by anybody
>the faggot who pretends to go into the area with the monster with the rest of the group but slips out and waits for his carves when he thinks no one will notice
>the faggot who the second he spawns in the hall rushes over to the quest counter and posts his urgent, bonus points if they immediately follow up with 'pls' or 'svp'
As a hunting horn main, whenever I see another HH user sitting in the corner just playing songs thinking that they're helping anyone by being dead weight, it just makes me incredibly angry
I just like archery in video games and shooting monsters out of the air with bows in MH never gets old even after 1100 hunts with it
Bow user here too. One of 4U's DLC weapons contains the Sacred Bow G from the Legend of Zelda. The cool thing about it is that you can apply EVERY. SINGLE. COATING. So while your team is up close attacking, you can the monster for paralysis, sleep, exhaustion and poison. It's one of my favourite bows to date and I would love to see it back as DLC again!
>blademasters who don't cut tails
I feel guilty about this because
LSand usually if there's a GS user or someone better at cutting tails, I leave it to them.
I need to double check and see what actually trips others because I swear I've unleashed a full combo and never saw anyone trip. Then again, I do try to use it sparingly and/or when there's no one nearby. I also do the short version
>50% chance to get item
>not even a shiny drop
I main hammer but I'm thinking of learning switch axe.
I've tried a few things but I always return to the hammer. It has a visceral nature I just love, combined with its mobility.
I tried gunlance, longsword, and twin blades but none of them feel as good as hammer, especially full charge hammer off a drop into a fucker's face. Switch Axe seems to have similar power and speed but I have to grind parts for a set of them up to my level. Any advice for which axes are best would be appreciated.
I've wanted to get good with bowguns since tri but they're not fun in single player for me.
I'll keep that in mind and help out more often, provided I can actually reach or cut the tails (looking at you Gravios). That's only while they're attacking right? I don't want to knock them out of a charge but I've been pretty good at avoiding that.
>hunting hr zins for plates and upgrades of my thunder weaponry
>108 zinogres with tails cut and only 2 fucking plates
Rare drops/low percentage drops are literally cancer. Can I just have my fucking Kut Ku Ear?
Fuck him, 3u was the right amount of cuntness, and 4u comes and makes him a gigantic fucking asshole of massive proportions. Still not as much as tri, where'd you waste all your flashbombs and he'd keep going airborne and keep windlocking you, but still a gigantic fucking ASS with his mixup potential and the AI upgrade
These people fucking suck. Make your own lobby to do your urgent, don't invade mine you filthy pleb.
Anyone who has managed to cobble together a bunch of G rank armor pieces and still has no active skills (Bonus points if they DO have active skills that won't work with their weapon, like guard +1 on a longsword)
>yfw the rest of the lobby joins their urgent in your own lobby
Fuck Raging Brachydios and the Immortal Reactor.
>had the goal of making all the Brachy weapons.
>only made 3(SnS and the IG. Swax didn't need one) because it dropped only 2 reactors in all the times I hunted it.
>Currently have close to 60 Brachy Palliums that I'll never use.
Man I love Monster Hunter, but I hate dicking around in LR and HR. I just want to be done with this shit so the game can start.
What's with all the shitty required Quests too? Fucking Capcom.
More like booted, the bunch of fags.
>Hammer in okay tier
>GS in gay tier
>LBG above HH
>Switch Axe over GS
>LS over DB
So you're a lone hunta I take it.
Hammer/HH user here.
People who try to go for the head.
People who trip me when I'm triple pounding the head.
People who get angry when I hit them while trying to hit the head.
Fuck off, unless you're a Hammer, you shouldn't be near the head. Help cut the tail, fucker.
To be fair, most HH players just sit in the corner playing songs and cart if they get anywhere near the monster. Good HH are fantastic, but they're a rarity. Most are dogshit
Most of any and all weapons are going to be shit if you're gonna rate them by randoms online.
All of them belong in the gay tier in that case. No fucking exceptions. Even SnS.
>need rathalos plate and ruby
>need zinogre horn
EVERY SINGLE TIME
Up the stakes, anon. That's Auto-yes
I just got to High rank in MH4U and I'm having a harder time with it, what's some good armor for it considering I forged a shitload of weapons instead of making anything tougher than a full tetsucabra set (Bow user)
Most blades go with Velociprey S at first in High Rank. Its an easy to get high rank armor that gives some decent skills.
I assume you can go with that at first with bow as well. Ive mainly done HBG and GS in 4U so my bow knowledge from 3U is rusty, but it should suffice to get some solid attack and defense on you.
As an HH main myself, I've never seen people do this. I'm not saying scrubs don't exist with HH or anything, I've just never encountered an HH user who does anything other than attack the head and use encores on the monster like they're supposed to, I've started to believe that those types of players are rare as fuck.
>there are people who havent killed monsters of legend with a hammer golfswing to the face
>Not making dragon bacon with Dual Blades
>Not shooting dragons so full of metal that its corpse can't be used for anything with a HBG
>423 hunts Lance
>221 hunts Gunlance
>95 hunts Bow
>67 hunts LBG
>54 hunts HBG
Don't feel like taking a screenshot. Used Lance through all the Caravan, LR and HR guild. Gunlance I used in most of G and throw on for AIDS monsters that I feel I need a shield for (Fatalis, Event Gogmazios, Garuga). I've been going back and forth between LBG and HBG at the moment
>farming zinogre plates so they can be traded for narga marrows
>mfw I indirectly called for its mother's death
I mostly found it to be too slow. It may just be a preference thing, though. I like the Gunlance because it makes up for its lack of speed, but the lances lack of combos and speed makes it unfavorable to me.
Its a meme since the beta. IG was OP because you could constantly mount the Monster in the demo, thus cheesing the entire hunt.
The meme only exists in the hearts of memesters who think they are funny.
>je suis monte
>break the head pls
>break the head pls
>break the head pls
>break the head pls
That's odd, considering the Lance has more mobility than the GL and much more combo potential. Obviously the basic combo is just stringing together three pokes, but the same goes for the GL. After a while with both weapons I actually like the Lance better; the GL's inability to string together hops or combo into a Guard is painful. And it doesn't really get anything to make up for it, considering the optimal way to play is to extend pokes with shells, which basically just makes it a shitty lance (unless you're using Wide)
>he thinks it was mounting
IG has retarded motion values mixed with a braindead moveset and broken buffs. Playing IG is a surefire way to tell who can't handle a MH game and needs crutches
>Have a friend who insists I'm bad
>Only ever uses the IG
>Meanwhile, I'm a superior DB main
Granted, I die to everything
First of all, you can STILL mountspam most monsters. Mounting is broken in 4/4U because both the thresholds and caps are too low, especially with Rodeo God which every IG and their mother has thanks to the overpowered Star Knight set. Not to mention that IGs are the ONLY weapon besides Lance that can jump without elevation, meaning they're basically required to mount in the many, many hunts where it's tedious/impossible to get yellow attacks (most notably in the Everwood).
Then, on top of that, you have the insanely broken triple up that boosts their damage to ridiculous levels, permanent super armor, crazy high motion values and mobility. The weapon is ridiculous. They nerfed it by like, 30% (est) across the board in Cross and some people still consider it overpowered.
More like there are more players who can't play the game playing IG than other weapons, because the margin for error is extremely high
It's a gamefaqs meme. You are supposed to act like an autist and pretend there's an irreconcilable conflict among the fanbase, pick an imaginary side and fight to death with an imaginary enemy. It's pretty fun, it's all the rage in FE threads, too.
>A monster being tired isn't useful
The boost from stam theif is negligible, as is the boost from KO king.
>Being able to rapidly charge a superpound's not useful?
Not when it shortens the time and basically locks out of your level 2 move. The uppercut is one of the hammer's best moves, it's miles better than the super pound, especially in mp.
I'm a 4U babby going back to try FU. It's really comfy but takes a lot of getting used to since there's no soft lock on. I beat the Giaprey pretty easily with greatsword. I have some questions though.
Do monsters have limping animations to show capturability? I didn't see one on the Giaprey.
I thought people liked me....
Your list is shit but I appreciate you putting my main in Elder Bro tier.
>4U babbies having a discussion right now
fuck off grandpas, its time for MHX. you DO have MHX already, right?
Is it too late to jump onto the MH4U train? these games churn out so fucking many that I never know if it's better to just skip a generation and just join the next one. Isn't MH X or some shit coming out soon? idk?
Wait, how is it worse? Doesn't the heat gauge increase its power?
Did they add that and then decide to go and nerf motion values despite it or something?
Man, fuck Capcom.
At least SnS is better this time.
I always liked monster Hunter BECAUSE you can jump in at any time. You may get carried early game or have to power through some shit early game, but the MH community by and large is very supportive, save a couple bad apples.
Well what I mean is I want to get the "current" game that will last a while.
Like if you picked up MH3 Tri it'd be dead as shit because it's an older generation, so I'm thinking is MH4U worth buying this late into it? isn't the new game coming out soon?
Pointless to waste the $$ on MH4U if I'm just going to buy X soon anyway?
>came in to the thread
>newest post is a claw post
I got it at launch, played like 180 hours then didn't play for a few months. Just started playing more again and got into G Rank and there's still plenty of people playing
Just get as much caravan (single player) stuff done as possible and then blitz through online with a friend/random anons to speed things up a bit
>posts claw webm on vitagen
>hey man you're pretty good
>posts claw webm on mhg
>fuck off shitter
This is why I still don't have the achievement for mounting all the monsters you can in Caravan/HR1-7 quests. Most of the maps Kirin can show up in have no mount opportunities unless someone launches you up, or you can do a quick wall grab and jump off combo if you can get the fucking thing to stay still long enough for you to pull it off.
Official useful in a team setting tier list
>extremely useful, huge benefit to the team
>can be useful under correct conditions
>literally never useful in a team setting, only use these in solo
Gun lance got a 10% damage nerf while the weapon is not overheated, when overheated it does the same it did in 4U, and when super overheated you get 5% FIVE FUCKING PERCENT damage boost. They literally took the worst weapon in 4U and nerfed it.
>literally never useful in a team setting, only use these in solo
>dodging enraged attacks in recital mode
>getting stuns off in recital mode
>getting stuns off on an encore
God, I love HH. Hope X hasn't fucked everything up and made it an unsatisfying weapon to use.
Guess I have never seen a decent Lance user in 1700 hours of play.
>can be useful under correct conditions
>weapons that just do damage
yea i could see how damage might be useful under the correct conditions
Wow, you have the exact same playtime as the guy who posted that in the thread on December 31st! What a coincidence
Lance does solid DPS while being fast enough to make good use of status effects if you want to bring Paralysis or something.
Any lancer who's not utter garbage can basically glue his ass to a monster between counters, evade, blocking, and charging around. Hell triple backstep is fast as hell for getting around. Besides a handful of monsters that are utter cunts to fight with Lance, but every weapon but GS has a few things that are just painful to fight. Being in a group mitigates that a lot though.
So okay, is there a better way in getting decent +armor at the Dunes area? I fought that rhino-triceratops wyvern boss and he kicked my ass twice.
I'm currently TRYING to farm for cephadrome parts for an armor set. Are there better sets that are easy to farm early in this game?
He's not wrong, it's just the majority of CB users are so shit that the majority of Hammerbros can out damage the retards.
CB used at the fullest potential is a train of rape, shame you barely get to see someone online prove it.
Monoblos? Bring Sonic Bombs. Toss one at where he burrows as soon as he's fully underground and he'll get stuck like he was in a pitfall trap for long enough to get a full GS combo off if you have Fast Charge. Or whatever your weapon's strongest combo is.
This is the average kill time (in seconds) of all the weapon classes:
1. IG = 453.25
2. GS = 470.92
3. CB = 525.58
4. HBG = 545.7
5. DB = 548.5
6. SnS = 672.42
7. Hammer = 672.67
8. Bow = 731.73
9. LS = 732.92
10. Lance = 737.75
11. LBG = 751.4
12. SA = 768
13. GL = 769
14. HH = 906.08
So based on those results we can sort the weapons into 5 different tiers:
MH4U TIER LIST
S tier: IG, GS
A tier: CB, HBG, DB
B tier: SnS, Hammer
C tier: Bow, LS, Lance, LBG, SA, GL
D tier: HH
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/762804-monster-hunter-4-ultimate/72936200for the data.
I don't use CB but I assume you want to use that huge exploding super swing you have.
You probably already know this but you want to be using CBs with Impact Phials so you can stun the fuck out of everything. If you're good it's basically as effective as a Hammer.
good with your weapons
>fuck off back to low rank you carried shitter
bad with your weapon
if your using the charge blade, i expect to see you at least do some guard attacks, just like i expect a great sword user to do mostly sheath and charge attacks
although my best friend never does charge attacks, he still thinks its the greatsword of old. hes good though
I love Lance but my biggest problem with it is that some monsters are just fucking horrible to fight solo with it. 4U was my first MH, I got hooked on Lance really early on and basically only used Lance all the way to the very end of HR. I got fed up with trying to fight Teostra cause it was way too fucking big of a pain to fight with a Lance, put together a shitty GS set since I figured GS would be the fastest to get the hang of, and was fucking amazed at how much less stressful the fight was, and a lot of other monsters that I thought were a pain with the Lance.
It's like that for every weapon that isn't broken. Large Tigrex/Molten is cancer to fight as a gunner, Brachy is terrible with a GL unless you drink Dash Juice, Hammer sucks for anything where the head is out of range etc...
>mfw finding out CB has guard frames when switching forms
Its only meaningless for HH since that performs much better in a team setting, but for every other weapon its pretty fucking spot on all though HBG also does perform slightly better in a team setting as well.
All three ranged weapons are much better in team settings since you don't have to worry about a monster going for your juicy Gunner armored asshole
Obviously all weapons benefit from not being the center of attention but ranged definitely benefits the most from being able to set up halfway across the room while all the melee weapons are busy dodging
Can you loop monsters into specific AI patterns when you're online? No? Then it's meaningless. You're talking about an incredibly small subset of players playing a specific way. Not to mention that the data set is pathetically small, especially for the more unpopular weapons, and that there is no indication that those players represent the best possible use of the weapon. Not like it would matter since, again, 99.9999% of players don't bother doing solo 140 speedruns.
tier lists like these are so fucking stupid
theres so many different set ups that go into specific weapon types, and some weapons are meant fo utility and produce some of the fastest kill times in the game, like a LBG with 3 HBG
HBG is good in solo
Elder Bro Tier:
If you can't see the advantage each different weapon gives and instead decide to pick one weapon and call it your "main", you are the biggest faggot to ever play this game.
Instead of staying in your comfort zone, how about actually experiencing 90% of the rest of the game's content?
>Cannot discharge either from Shield Thrust or after guarding. In Guild and Aerial style, attempting to discharge in Blade Form will cause you to forcibly Shield Boost instead.
>Guard Points no longer interrupt your actions except when the guard recoil is too strong.
>Guarding with the R-bumper can also produce guardsplosions, and still can follow up with Forward Slam, or Shield Boost(guild/aerial).
>The quick Blade-to-Axe morph gains a guard point and fittingly, it has less GP frames than the old guarding Blade-to-Axe morph.
>The hiccup that occurs whenever you cancel the Ultra Discharge into an Amped Discharge is gone. However, in order to microadjust the attack itself the cancel timing must be done much quicker.
>The Ultra Discharge no longer hits twice on swing-down. It also produces a condensed explosion that hits once instead of a shockwave.
This thread embodies why I never play with randos.
If they're not horribly incompetent.... they're one of you elitist asshats that treat everyone even slightly less experienced than you like they're horrible people that should've never gotten the game. AKA insufferable jackasses that are no fun to play with.
I forget, are the kinsects interchangeable between your glaives? or do you have to raise a new bug for every single insect glaive?
If that's the case that pretty much means you're stuck waiting on the EE bug until you get whatever IG in G rank that you're going to stick with full time. Unless you want to make like 10 fucking EE bugs, fuck that
Each Glaive has its own bug, they are not interchangeable, once you reach the final bug form that individual Glaive is stuck with that bug forever or until you reforge it from scratch. If you only want to make a couple I highly suggest either Hellruin or Bounding for general purpose. If you do go through with making one for each element the best are
Thunder: White Fatty
Dragon: Black Fatty
What makes MHX and MH4U different? I assumed Cross was another 4 revision, but people have mentioned something about it being an anniversary game?
I don't get the hype, honestly.
It's a ton of reused assets, a small handful of new monsters, and then basically nothing. No G rank, no alt armors, nothing.
Besides, I've only got, like, 50 hours in MonHun4U, I can stand to stick with it a little while longer.
I used to claw. I used to claw the SHIT out of MonHun.
