It's good, it just that when someone on your team is mounting too much it slows down the fight.

As for the weapon itself, it's pretty bland. You basically position yourself well and do the same combo, whereas other fast weapons like SnS and DS you're moving around the monster more.

X fixes that with styles, Aerial IG is fun as fuck

Well yeah, that's a good to do thing efficiently. But if you're playing with friends, it's good to just mount at good times when people need to sharpen and what not. It's pretty boring when an IG user just mounts all day and you spend half the fight just waiting for the animation to finish.

Damage is rather good as well, although I'm not sure how charge scales up the raw damage on superpound because I can't into maths. Pierce shots are only good on certain monsters; not to mention you need to aim even more precisely with Pierce shots than you do with LBG so I'm not sure how your "criticism" wouldn't apply to HBG as well. Seregios LBG does good damage - better than elemental versus certain monsters. Sounds like you're either retarded or are just complaining about shitty gunners.

Bow user here too. One of 4U's DLC weapons contains the Sacred Bow G from the Legend of Zelda. The cool thing about it is that you can apply EVERY. SINGLE. COATING. So while your team is up close attacking, you can the monster for paralysis, sleep, exhaustion and poison. It's one of my favourite bows to date and I would love to see it back as DLC again!

Have you guys ever tried to PvP during a quest? I like being a gunner and teaming up with the monster, sometimes.

Are their any games where using bows is as fun, if not more than, in Monster Hunter?

I main hammer but I'm thinking of learning switch axe.

I've tried a few things but I always return to the hammer. It has a visceral nature I just love, combined with its mobility.

I tried gunlance, longsword, and twin blades but none of them feel as good as hammer, especially full charge hammer off a drop into a fucker's face. Switch Axe seems to have similar power and speed but I have to grind parts for a set of them up to my level. Any advice for which axes are best would be appreciated.

I've wanted to get good with bowguns since tri but they're not fun in single player for me.

I assume you can go with that at first with bow as well. Ive mainly done HBG and GS in 4U so my bow knowledge from 3U is rusty, but it should suffice to get some solid attack and defense on you.

I mostly found it to be too slow. It may just be a preference thing, though. I like the Gunlance because it makes up for its lack of speed, but the lances lack of combos and speed makes it unfavorable to me.

That's odd, considering the Lance has more mobility than the GL and much more combo potential. Obviously the basic combo is just stringing together three pokes, but the same goes for the GL. After a while with both weapons I actually like the Lance better; the GL's inability to string together hops or combo into a Guard is painful. And it doesn't really get anything to make up for it, considering the optimal way to play is to extend pokes with shells, which basically just makes it a shitty lance (unless you're using Wide)

First of all, you can STILL mountspam most monsters. Mounting is broken in 4/4U because both the thresholds and caps are too low, especially with Rodeo God which every IG and their mother has thanks to the overpowered Star Knight set. Not to mention that IGs are the ONLY weapon besides Lance that can jump without elevation, meaning they're basically required to mount in the many, many hunts where it's tedious/impossible to get yellow attacks (most notably in the Everwood).

Then, on top of that, you have the insanely broken triple up that boosts their damage to ridiculous levels, permanent super armor, crazy high motion values and mobility. The weapon is ridiculous. They nerfed it by like, 30% (est) across the board in Cross and some people still consider it overpowered.

Not when it shortens the time and basically locks out of your level 2 move. The uppercut is one of the hammer's best moves, it's miles better than the super pound, especially in mp.

I'm a 4U babby going back to try FU. It's really comfy but takes a lot of getting used to since there's no soft lock on. I beat the Giaprey pretty easily with greatsword. I have some questions though.
Do monsters have limping animations to show capturability? I didn't see one on the Giaprey.

Lance does solid DPS while being fast enough to make good use of status effects if you want to bring Paralysis or something.

Any lancer who's not utter garbage can basically glue his ass to a monster between counters, evade, blocking, and charging around. Hell triple backstep is fast as hell for getting around. Besides a handful of monsters that are utter cunts to fight with Lance, but every weapon but GS has a few things that are just painful to fight. Being in a group mitigates that a lot though.

I don't use CB but I assume you want to use that huge exploding super swing you have.

You probably already know this but you want to be using CBs with Impact Phials so you can stun the fuck out of everything. If you're good it's basically as effective as a Hammer.

if your using the charge blade, i expect to see you at least do some guard attacks, just like i expect a great sword user to do mostly sheath and charge attacks although my best friend never does charge attacks, he still thinks its the greatsword of old. hes good though
