What do you want to see in the new EO game?
Will it be on vita? Because all 3ds and wiiu atlus games were sold like a shit

EO games would lose all purpose since they always put emphases on drawing maps. Having a map that you put away or it taking up part of the screen so that it's decently sized enough to effectively draw on would be annoying.
There's plenty of dungeon crawlers already on the Vita, leave EO to the platform it was made for.

Untold 1 sold almost as much as 4, a brand new game, and 4 was the best selling EO. There were shortages of EMD in Japan, in one week they sold 95% of the shipments and they had to apologize for releasing so little copies(if I recall that was 65K). The other 2 were standard sales for Atlus. Games don't have to sell a million to be successful for a niche developer like Atlus that has made nothing but remakes so far, keep talking out of your ass though
The only way to get a EO thread going anymore is to bait from the get go. Last EO thread that didn't die in an hour was someone complaining how the lolis were such a problem and basically was just bitching about all the portraits as well
The one main reason Etrian Odyssey series work well on the DS/3DS is because of the dual screens. If it was just a simple matter of viewing a map it wouldn't have mattered much but now you gotta be on the go and make the map at the same time so yeah, one screen aint gonna work out.

I wish some of the dungeon crawlers on the Vita had where you could at least edit the maps yourself. Like a button or option to at least mark a spot on the map where you're currently located.
It's not the main appeal, but it's a major factor in the EO games that players draw the maps themselves as they explore. Each one has you starting out filling up a certain amount of the first floor to learn the basics.
It wouldn't bother me if the map just filled out in line of sight, or if automap placed gather icons/shortcuts, like Strange Journey did. People say the game would be worse on vita as a result doesn't seem to make sense to me. Mapping makes multiple run throughs more irritating anyway.
Party planning is common for almost all party type dungeoneering RPG games like DT2 and DD.
The uniqueness of EO comes from the fact that it was inspired by old D&D tabletop RPGs where you draw maps with graphing paper.

A true JRPG style "God" final boss at the top of a Yggdrasil, which is a post game 99F unmappable mystery dungeon (changes every time you enter) would be fucking neat
It kind of the big points of EO, and as well the dungeon crawler genre.
But before you had to draw your maps with paper+pen, in EO they give you the grid to draw the map in the game itself.
Also, there are not other games that let you insert a lot of info in ingame maps, so yes, it is one the main appeals of the game.
I've never played anything from the older games, so I can't comment on those, but would you really get lost, or struggle to remember things if you didn't have a map given to you, or couldn't make one? I think the only time I'd struggle would be those movement panel or teleporter mazes
But even if you never draw the walls, the game offer you multiples icons to add information to your maps. No other game does this. You can add notes in other games, but not symbology.
But is this a really good feature? I just like the game as it is. I wouldn't feel as though the game was terrible without it, if it did ever get put on another platform.
I guess it'd be really good on Wiiu, I wonder if they've considered it
For EO5 I want a huge main dungeon and an overworld with smaller dungeons to bring more variety. Also no story mode, please, I just want them to put all of their effort into making well designed classes and dungeons

Sprites were cool, but we better accept the reality.
The game will not have story mode, the game is sekaiju no meikyuu V, not shin sekaiju no meikyuu.
So no story mode this time.

Why? It has a touch screen, but it is incredibly inaccurate. It will most definitely be for 3DS, maybe multiplat with Wii U or NX. Drawing the map is a key part of the Etrian Odyssey experience.
I would like no world map, but I think that isn't going to happen. If they keep the overworld, they need to go to more interesting locations. IV was boring in comparison to I and II. I haven't played III. I would love for more floors, and a twist at the 20th floor revealing that you have even more stratums to visit, rather than it being the last.
The sales are fine.
