Let's have a Mario Maker thread.
What course element would you guys most want to see added in a patch/DLC? What costume would you like to see added? Any stage you want to
shill? I'd really like a higher vertical limit myself.
I'm making a campaign, so if you want to play my stages start with https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/8B27-0000-014E-D3BB
Easy normal course, featuring 3 possible 1-ups from jumping, 100 coins, and direct collection.
Moderate time attack course, not too time intensive unless you make a mistake at the last obstacle.
Hard track course, time isn't a factor but the platforming is annoying enough that you won't notice.
Uncleared so far.

I want everything in pic related
Hello, i want more new enemies.
Also check out my level :)
A lot of these are just nitpicky and would really only work in very specific situations.
The fact that Luigi isn't normally playable and that there's no real dessert them is a crime though. And they could easily make it so where giving a fire flower to a hammer bro would make it a fire bro.
My ghost house that I thought was really simple for a puzzle level ended up having a 1.65% clear rate. Only 2/121
On one of my levels, the idea is to play to the end and grab a P-switch and take it backwards through the level to open a P warp door at the beginning; https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/1FE4-0000-0167-C2CF if you want to play it. At one point, there are four bullet bill cannons in a row and sometimes, only sometimes, it will disappear along with some spike tops(two are missing in this particular picture). Does anyone know what causes this particular de-spawning and how to exploit it to make a level?
>Cavernous Mushrooms 2 (Largely better than the original)
>The Phobia (Shooter-Style Level)
I'd really enjoy some criticism, so if you have any, go ahead and lay it on me.
I like my levels to be short and sweet for the most part, but also heavily detailed.
My newest level. Has some minor puzzle elements in the form of backtracking.
A classic SMB3 castle with secrets, shortcuts, and a boss.
Based on the sawblade bridge levels in SMW. You can either ride the track or spin-jump across.
A simple SMB3 auto-scroller.
A classic Lost Levels style level.
Bullet Bill spawns in this game are really finicky. I made a course where I put them on tracks and I made a remake replacing most of them with cannons just to ensure that the spawns work.
One little exploit you can do with Bill Blasters is that you can kick a shell farther than a bill blaster spawn. so if you do it correctly you can get a shell to get into a seemingly impossible space that is blocked by a bill blaster.
I'll give your level a look later and see if I can find the reason for the despawn.
Thanks for watching the stream, and linking your courses.
There's a ton of great course creators here and I hope to stream some more of everyone's stuff in the future.
Collab anon here.
>/v/ has been making a 10-man collaborative le/v/el; the level is nearly finished!
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/EC83-0000-015B-DC62 (TEMPLATE, NOT THE FINAL LEVEL)
To take a picture of the section:
>press home on wii u

SECTIONS NEEDED: A1; A1 anon, please respond ASAP so I can finish the final section! If too many anons get impatient, we'll throw in someone else to finish the section! (Or I'll make the A1 section myself.)
TO EVERY ANON THAT MADE A SECTION: If you want to be credited for your section in the level, give me your NAME/ALIAS, SECTION, and BOOKMARK PROFILE. (i.e. "XxMetalxxGear/A1/http:dickbutts", "Ryan/B3/http:Ryan", etc). I will put dev comments in the level crediting each anon in their respective sections. I will also share the links to your bookmark profile when I shill the level, so people can take a look at other levels you've made. So far I have:
Pic related is a rough example of the level; it is NOT a 1:1 perfect line up of what the level looks like, and it does not include changes in the final product. The upper layer is off-center because I had to resize the original images of certain sections to fit together, and as such it's slightly off. These are all images from the various anons put together. Pls no hate my bad paint job.
I realized yesterday that I made your section straight from the images in the thread without saving them (yours was the very first section, so I didn't think to save them at the time), and even after going through every SMM thread in the archive I couldn't find them. Sorry, anon.
I tried to match as best I could, but I think it's right.
If A1 anon takes too long, I'll open up the space for someone to quickly make a section. I'd just hate to have to do that twice, especially since A1 anon claimed their section only two days ago or so, but I know people want to play the level.
I spent half an hour going through the archive and I couldn't find them, anon you damn wizard you're making me look bad.
But thanks, we appreciate it.
Im gonna shill my level
I bet NONE of you fuckers can make it through
Water/lava tiles is the thing I'd want the most.
As for shilling a level. I made the 2nd of my discount banjo kazooie levels.
All right guys, I got a $50 EB gift card for Xmas and I've been on the fence about what to get. I've been a big fan of 2D Mario since 2 (except the NSMB series- there's just something about them that turns me off) and I've been looking at Mario Maker for a while now (my other choices include PS4 GTAV, which I'm kind of holding out for a pricedrop on, and Senran Kagura 3DS) but I'm just worried it's not going to hold my attention long enough as I'm not a huge fan of level-editors.
I realize posting in a dedicated Mario Maker thread invites a kind of bias, but making a new thread would invite shitposters and you folks who actually have the game are the people I want to ask.
tl;dr gift card. Mario Maker y/n?
Made this level today:
Falcon Rush https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/2659-0000-017B-68F3
Posting my level again, i hope you guys like it :)
>Wario Bros- Hard Head Hills
I made a Wario Land inspired level where you play as Wario and Waluigi. There are four hidden treasures (coin pipes) in the stage, can you find them all and collect the secret riches? The boss of this level is Hard Head; make sure he falls into the bottomless pit to defeat him!

>"Mario Plays Tetris"
>"The Nicest Bridge Around"
Making courses was easier and more fun that I thought it would be. It's not exactly the deepest editor.
Will GTA 5 even go down in price soon? It sells like hot pockets. Which Senran game? Isn't there like 4 on the 3DS?
I got this game a few days ago and it's surprisingly fun to make levels. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did making it. I'll play as many of your levels as I can.
>Chain Chomp Yard
My newest course, honestly I just made it really quick so it's not as good as the others, but imo it's still pretty ok. SMB3 ground theme level with a bunch of chain chomps. https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/8F24-0000-0175-B994
Fun and challenging athletic course. 2 whole areas long, with a checkpoint right in the middle. Lots of fun little challenges. Autoscrolling. https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/11D8-0000-0165-1077
>The Goombas Revenge
Autoscrolling airship course full of Goombas that have things stacked on them to make them actually threatening. My most popular level, 24 stars out of 50 players, so it's good :) https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/74EC-0000-0157-1C8D
>Bowser's Dangerous Dungeon
My first level. Castle level with fireballs and traps positioned in just the right spots to kill you if you aren't careful. Kinda bullshit but not too bad, no enemy spam or anything. https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/FABC-0000-014E-3C95
I'm mostly going to be working on making a couple new courses over the next couple weeks, but I'll try to take some breaks to play. If you want me to check out something today, just reply to me. If you want me to play through your entire profile, just beat one of my Magikoopa courses. Fire & Ice is the easier one.
Dr. Feelgood: Kickstart My Heart
Deus Ex Magikoopa 2: Fire & Ice
>My ghost house that I thought was really simple for a puzzle level ended up having a 1.65% clear rate. Only 2/121
Both of those clears are actually me. I'm sure the rate will go up when more people play it. I definitely recommend it.
Holy shit only 1.45% clear rate?
Its not THAT hard
If anyone wants to try to clear it go ahead
This ones to crazy for some anons
"Super Waifu Bros."
>Fire Koopa Clown Car update
>Doesn't make Fire Bros a thing
I'm aware it's kind of unfair, it's just that people are getting impatient and want to play the level, and I'm also going to be unavailable for the latter half of Friday until mid-day Saturday. If you guys want, I'll give A1 anon until around noon (CT) tomorrow, and I'll just get the level finished and uploaded before I have to leave.
Dragon coins and DC-gate blocks, or the red coin equivalent, would be pretty cool, but I don't expect much from Nintendo for a while. MM isn't like Splatoon where it gets constant updates and content.
Hey man, if you want to credit it, B3 was indeed made by Ryan so it'd be Ryan/B3/ZeroRhapsody
I love you Collab Anon
My bookmark backlog is slowly filling up right now 'cuz I've been too busy for Wii U but I will try play them throughout the week and leave novelty drawings or comments on as many levels as possible
Just made this, not sure how good it is though.
I'll try digging through some of the levels posted ITT in a few minutes when my gamepad's battery isn't so busy being utterly dead.
>I'll try digging through some of the levels posted ITT in a few minutes when my gamepad's battery isn't so busy being utterly dead.
Why not plug and play? So satisfying sitting by your laptop/PC playing Mario levels made by your /v/ friends, refreshing the page constantly to see if anyone called your level shit or trash or
Not sarcasm btw, it's a real joy
Got you, mi familia.
I bookmarked two of your levels. And I like your section as the intro, I think the simplicity works well for the intro in that if you die, you don't have to do some difficult jump or deal with an annoying enemy combination or anything. Simple isn't bad.
>Hit block limit on main and sub world
fuck me, why is there a block limit anyway? Why do coins count as blocks?
>Make an underground sub area
>Want to fill the walls with blocks so the level looks nice
>Hit the limit
>Have to remove a few blocks exactly 1 block off screen from multiple possible view points to keep the illusion but so I also have more blocks
I get why they have it, but also fuck the limit. I don't want to have big rectangles of empty space five blocks deep into the cave walls and ceilings.
Finally finished my newest level, 5-4: Difficult Descent. If anyone's wondering, yes, the level is actually pretty hard. The toughest jump is at the very beginning at least.
Thanks so much for getting me over 500 stars mate.
>Perishing Portable Platforms
Had an attempt at making a level. It's not too difficult, requires a little patience, but otherwise just outright platforming that requires timing and reflexes. Feel free to give me feedback, would be much appreciated.
The level is basically pic related, but on moving tracks. As the level goes on, more obstacles and tighter jumps and added. No one has beat it yet, so feel free to give it a go.
>Moving doughnut blocks
>A level full of moving doughnut blocks
Shilling in every thread until I get to 50 medals
I'm having the exact same problem.
It's a vertical level, so you go down the level, through a door then to the next area cause levels are short as hell. The next are goes next to the first one, but it'd be ugly as hell if you could see it while playing the first area, so you need a big ass wall of blocks, which eat into your count.
Making your levels look nice can be a big ol' pain in the ass. I could go and remove a bunch of decorative elements, but why even finish the level at that point.
I wish they had a big block that functioned like a semi-solid platform that just looked like a big wall of the standard ground, or something.
I'd also love a Super Mario Land/Super Mario Land 2 style skin, complete with green Gameboy-style filter.
But what I'm really counting on is the eventual 3DS port. I mean, Nintendo would have to be stupid to not make one, because I'd pick that shit up in a heartbeat if it had a portable version.
>Do I make the level look good?
>Or do I sacrifice ascetic looks for more blocks and more game play potential?
fuck this shit
I feel like I actively gimp my levels because I only tend to put in things that look "right" with the level's aesthetics and doing otherwise just doesn't feel right to me
like sometimes I fight with myself just to add pipes it's that bad
>go through all this
>finally finish level
>barely anyone even completes it
>Make a level you spent a lot of time on and really like the end result of
>Someone criticizes some aspect of the level, and not even in the nice way
>They didn't even finish it
Keyrock is the master of speed.
The blue blur.
The red lightning.
The [VGTG] Shazbot.
>love making levels (even if I'm bad at it)
>don't really care to play levels
what the fuck is wrong with me
I've got the same problem with making magic decks compared to actually playing MTG too, fuck
Chain Chomp Reaction.
A commenter said that my level is "one of the only levels that uses Chain Chomps well" that he's played.
When The Shoe Fits
It pretty much just uses the shoe powerup for the level throughout. The difficult i'd say would be about medium or so.
In case you missed it before. Get ready fuckers, shits getting real now.
8-1: STOP THAT PLUMBER!!!
Alternate Tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnLAC5AJPuM
Enjoy. Gonna spend a bit completing all the stages I've bookmarked so far(91, jesus) before I do more, but if you have a level you really want played, quote my post, as I'll be lurking the thread for a bit. Lemme know what you think of 8-1, or any of my stages for that matter.
I was A4, You can either call me Keith or the Bit Crusade Guy, I'll leave it up to you. My profile is already posted above. I'm super tempted to click the thumbnail, but I wanna go in blind when its finally done.
What stage of yours has the highest amount of stars?
>Make retardedly easy, short level with powerups handed out like candy
>14.7% completion rate
Just this one at 11 stars, only because it was my first level
the beginning is the most death x area ive seen
"Mind Your Step"
Actually, am sitting with my gamepad now trying to come up with something new. I'll keep you posted.
Also, just in case none of you have played it, pleas play this guy's level. It's probably the best level I've played in Mario Maker so far. A little hard, but you want to keep moving forward.
I got you two down.
Also, I just checked some comments on the collab level template: I know that all of them are anons from these threads, and I want you four to know that you are sassy and sarcastic.
>Buzzy beetle at the beginning of the level doing fuck all
>Like 30 death xs around him
I should really get back into making levels again
OP here, I used to have a great amount of stars on some levels, but I nuked everything to reupload in order.
>Mushroom Kingdom (Melee)
Bookmarked. I now have an intense desire for a level of that Zelda underground temple level, but that'd be pretty tricky to make, if not impossible without a vertical height adjuster.
Just saw you tried my level and didn't finish it, so I came back to your level. This time around, it only took like 3 or 4 tries! It's a lot less difficult than it looks, the problem is that it looks absolutely terrifying.
Heh, good luck.
>make a short level recording like always
>send a segment through WebM Converter
>WebM comes out looking like chopped shit
What the fuck, man?
>try to do 100 mario expert for muh costumes
>get a level that's kinda neat, hard but not annoyingly so
>get to the end on my first try but fuck up a small bit and have to do it over again
>figure no sweat
>never get even half as far again
why is life so miserable
>occasionally go to some of my old levels and intentionally jump in the first pit
>Xs continue popping up until the screen fades out
>Dying on my own level on the re-record
If the anons from yesterday's thread are still there, I'm making this happen. It's going to be worth the weight.
Very good, especially for a first stage.
I know that feel all too well.
Heh, good job. Did you record webms for other anons in the past or was that someone else?
Yes, up until I took a break for a couple months I liked to record each level I played and I posted it here to show my thought process. The best feedback you can give a creator is a visual one.
My creative spark seems to have all but died. I can come up with some great ideas, but I always fall short of making a complete and interesting level. Hopefully when I complete my Ghost House it'll be the exception. I'm working hard on it. In the meantime I've got levels like this. Would be great if the secret area wasn't so lame. Not much of a reward if it isn't fun.
I guess you can try to find it anyway, though.
Hopefully someone who finds a mild challenge rewarding will like it.
Sonic knows what your plans for Friday night are.
He knows you're going to be alone on a Friday night.
Reuploaded 3 of my 4 courses to include checkpoints. I haven't had a ton of people replay the levels who had played it before the checkpoints, but just my own testing makes me wonder how Nintendo even released the game without them.
Anyway, I'd appreciate some more feedback on any of them.
Sure, I'll give 'em a shot.
Actually me and a couple of friends are going to ready ourselves for a programming competition that's gonna take place over the weekend.
The bad thing about making WebMs of your new levels is when you try to break them and succeed.
The secret in this one is a little harder to find.
In case anons haven't noticed, my three levels in this thread have the level ID and name as the filename.
Sounds cool, man, I wish I knew how to code already. I'm going to be spending Friday evening eating with friends, playing games and Catan, and crashing at one of their places.
In case anyone is wondering what I mean when I say I'm not as creative as when I started.
It's just too bad Nintendo won't allow us to insert checkpoints into existing levels. Not like they couldn't force us to test them. I just don't want to lose my visual stars. It gives me encouragement to keep trying because I know I can make interesting levels.
On the other hand, it could get me more stars, plus the checkpoint might encourage more people to finish it.
>quick bookmark them
I don't know what that means, but
2031-0000-0170-79EB -- Fresh Drink
CD73-0000-016B-84D1 -- Dredge Jr.
04B3-0000-016B-A0EB -- Short Pass
Thanks for the feedback on my posts.
Hope you enjoy at least one of those turds.
That's me >>323095783
It's a little ironic, since I'm incredibly inefficient at making my own courses. I can waste hours just screwing around with object interactions in the editor.
If you ever want to foil me specifically, cover your courses in spikes or bouncy things. I'm pretty good at everything else.
Fun levels. The jumps after the checkpoints in Plunder of Airship Zeta totally don't feel like they were designed for big Mario, but other than that they were very fun. Good job.
Hm, "Keyrock Killer" is an alliteration... I'll have to think about it.
I really want to play some anons' courses but I've procrastinated doing anything tonight long enough and I have to go do something.
When you feel like you really have a winner, don't forget to add it to this list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lDW7LdSAd1fbmcSjakvTKF5SCxoOHR9GSzFC4lMxqLo/edit#gid=0
No cutting, anons. Add your name and course at the bottom of the appropriate tab and column.
He means you should make bookmark links out of them like most people are doing now. These are yours.
They were impossible with big Mario in the original uploads, now it's just difficult to do, and using small Mario makes it easier. there's also another way to get past that part, ho ho. Thanks for checking em out
>Beyond the Bouncy Barricades
I get around this by placing a single column of solid wall with a full height semi-solid platform tucked behind it. That way I can save my blocks for other parts.
Alternately, if you have spare enemies, hollow out the area behind the wall and put some on-rail enemies/items as decoration.
Finally, check this new Shmup level:
He said he doesn't want to lose visual stars, meaning the count on a specific course. A lot of the time, people who starred the first version of something won't bother to play or star a reupload, so the visual count suffers, and people will play your more starred courses instead.
Oh. Wow, I didn't know about that. Thanks.
Seems kind of annoying, actually. I try to come here just to play levels on the spot. I hate bookmarking things because I'm irresponsible and it leads to procrastination, but I see how it could be useful for other people.
Personally, I've only played a handful, but it's a great way for anons to share courses in longevity. After I added a few of my early ones, I got like a dozen stars in a couple days.
I haven't made a new level in awhile but here is a exploratory/non-linear level.I'm really bad at sticking to one visual theme I have noticed.
lukewarm lard lung:
This is a series I'm making with inspiration from DKC, including 2 secret rooms in each level.
The most recent is 7-3: Seasonal Stroll (14B5-0000-017C-1579)
>SMB3 probably has the best looking style
>SMB3 also has the ability to grab things
>Mystery mushroom costumes don't work in SMB3
"Play as this character" levels would be so much easier if the damn MM costumes worked in the 3 style.
I've isolated my "automatic" so now once you solve the puzzle, the level is over. Does Notomatic look ok, or should I do something different with the text like Not-o-matic or something? Or should I just stay with Don't Touch Anything! Right? ;) Only time I've had trouble with a title so far.
Yeah, I think that's the right call. Notomatic isn't a word, that's why it looks shit. I want Not-o-matic so I have a little room to write subtitles, if I decide to make more of these in the future. It's... not all that fun to make these things, so it's not high on the priority list lol.
