Just patch the original game to version 1.03 and maybe install the widescreen fix.

For Kotor 2 you may want to install the lost content patch that includes a lot of stuff. Not all of it is great though, but it does add a lot of content.

it stops the level scumming shit which is why most nerds actually dislike taris... besides if you have played it already making things different is not a bad thing. You start as a jedi in kotor 2 so it's not like it breaks the game at all it just lets you focus on your twink jedi rapist from the start. Also the game is still a bastard, I went to the hippy jedi planet after taris and made the mistake of turning up to hard... the mandalorian bulls cucked me pretty hard
