I'm trying to sprite something but I'm not very bad at it. Tips to get better?
I'm trying to make pic related as a sprite.
What a lot of indie faggots do is make their art at a tiny resolution and blow it up. So you could make a 40x40 sprite instead and use Photoshop to enlarge 10x. This is a lot faster than drawing everything at a large resolution.

They're too big, they're not sprites they're drawings done without any sort of aliasing.
Look at >>323063975. Use your drawings as a start, but then try and draw them on a 32x48 pixel grid (as a rough idea, you can go bigger if you want)
Pic related is some pixel art I tried to do the other night, zoomed in at 3x.
what would stop OP from drawing and animating an entire game with his semen demens? They aren't conventional, but they are sprites.

I took a liberty with your mermaid. But not the kind I would have wished for.
I started with your drawing, shrunk it 30% or so. Drew over the lines (I don't usually use lines much but it seemed your style) and then put two colour passes on (could have done more but am lazy).
Whole thing took about fifteen minutes. Your drawings work as an excellent guide for doing sprites with. When you're scaling, make sure you turn off filtering (in PS you set to "nearest neighbour")
fucking this, OP. you don't have sprites. you have concept art that looks kinda shitty, but with a little work could become a mediocre sprite.
The designs are generic and obviously trying to be fap-bait, without an understanding of how to draw something in a sexy way.
Also, you only have one frame for each one. Are they going to be moving on a 2D plane? isometric? still-image cut-ins? Some of these poses will not work for some of those contexts.
2/10, needs more work done to be even taken seriously.
Anon you're doing it wrong, stop trying to get neat lines with your mousse or tablet, learn to draw vectors with the pen tool, that will give you smooth results you can even scale up/down the size of anything you make easily without quality loss.

Isn't the term 'power bottom' or something? Or maybe that's a gay term, I dunno. There really needs to be a straight equivalent.
Do you intend to animate them? If you do there's not much meaning in obsessing over the details until you have the basic form and animation down before fleshing things out.
That said, having a reference sprite at hand is not a bad idea.
Every single person in this thread is confusing "sprite" with "pixel art". High definition sprites exist, pic related.
