Yes. They kinda screwed up on the STR stat and the fact that physical attacks now also cost MP. You can cirumvent this on MC by building properly, but on demons, magic fares much better than physical.

The only ones that aren't are Charge and Concentrate, but it's obvious the buffs he's talking about are -kaja and -kunda spells. Unless you're a retard and run from every single battle you should be high enough level to fuse what you need when you reach a boss.

All the buffs aply to your entire party.

You don't need high level buffs during the beginning of the game. In fact you don't even need them, they are just a nice bonus.
