>>323056758 When you consider just 7, no sequels or anything, it's the one of the clearest stories with the best motivations, it has one of the most defined worlds, and it feels real, unlike 13 where it's so sci-fi you can't even connect with the setting, let alone the characters.
I simply can't see Mystic Quest, Tactics, X-2, XI, XII, XIII compilation or XIV being part of the same series. I liked them but they are so different, like those Chocobo Dungeon spin-off games and Kingdom Hearts.
>>323058896 It has the worst gameplay in the series since IV, the side content is extermely repetitive, the environments are all the same empty plains with only visual differences, as are the enemies and even most bosses
>>323059486 The real time gameplay in XII is excellent compared to previous turn based entries that would magically teleport you to battlegrounds
The character customization in IZJS is better than other entries. It cant be easily expoilted like VII or VIII. And it's the most challenging game in the mainline, especially with awesome side content like the monster hunting bosses.
Not to mention it doesn't suffer from grinding due to the fully unlocked gambit system and turbo button, which should be mandatory in JRPGs.
IZJS is a real winner and only Xenoblade was able to successfully copy it.
>>323059396 Xenoblade does pretty much everything far better than FF XII. The battle system is much more complex, the environments are more interesting, subsystems are less obtuse (compared to XII's awful weapon, bazaar and hunting mechanics) and sidequests are more varied
>>323059934 Final Fantasy battle gameplay has never been very deep or interesting, but it's also not the reason people like the series. I agree that the in-environment battles are a slight improvement, but they're all there is to the game. XII is missing the set pieces, the small adventure game elements and most importantly the constantly developing story that makes the earlier entries so well paced and entertaining. Or it actually has these in the beginning, but you see less and less of anything else than constant battles in bland environments as the game progresses. The fact that you can make the battles virtually automatic doesn't help at all
>>323060952 Thanks for admitting XII had the best gameplay and challenge.
What is the point of a "cool environment" if you teleport to a random battle arena whenever a turn based battle starts? Besides, the Giant Crystal, the Lighthouse, and the Necropolis were much more interesting environments than other games
Gambits + turbo button is a genius gameplay mechanic that eliminates grinding, as long as you've progressed beyond the area. Trying to autopilot with poor gambits or equal levels will get you killed, especially in areas like the Necropolis with Giant Elementals which punish you for doing so.
>>323060710 You're right that Xenoblade's gameplay can be completely broken, but when I played it the first time and didn't know it, the excitement and the tactical feel of the battles were from another world compared to Final Fantasy XII, which felt bland and boring from beginning to end.
>Every area has 50 quests of "Kill X rabbits." It's ironic that you say this, since XII has exactly one side quest type for most of the game. Xenoblade has the uninteresting kill quests, but they're far from the only quest type, and they're something you can do while exploring the environments, unlike in XII, where there's nothing to explore
I am playing FF10 and I'm really close to dropping it. After walking through corridors for hours and an hour long cutscene I am rewarded with a piss-easy boss and a goddamn blitzball match, leading to another boring set of UNSKIPPABLE cutscenes. Is the whole game going to be like this?
>>323062459 >XII doesn't have grinding due to gambits and IZJS turbo They're there to make grinding easier, because all the game has is corridors and plains full of enemies. A good Final Fantasy dungeon balances puzzles, survival and story development, XII just has endless fighting no matter where you are

FFVII is a masterpiece and there's nothing you can do about, you little shit.
Can someone explain me what's the point of making all party members be able to do everything? I mean it takes away a lot of their uniqueness and the potential to be ever used. Who needs customizations if the characters only differ in stats and super move.
>>323067591 And throwing away the link to their actual backstory. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather see people that know what they are doing rather than teenanger that suddenly have to save the world. Let's see Dragon Quest VI did both uniqueness and the customizations with the job system in the middle right .
Also why should i ever use potions if i simply make someone able to use heal spells and there are more mp-refill stations than shops.
>>323069550 Accepted, but it's a how well that is shown to the player. If I recall correctly only post X and the remakes show actual casting times. Also there were casting times in VIII for the gfs but not for the rest.
