The character customization in IZJS is better than other entries. It cant be easily expoilted like VII or VIII. And it's the most challenging game in the mainline, especially with awesome side content like the monster hunting bosses.

Not to mention it doesn't suffer from grinding due to the fully unlocked gambit system and turbo button, which should be mandatory in JRPGs.

IZJS is a real winner and only Xenoblade was able to successfully copy it.

Final Fantasy battle gameplay has never been very deep or interesting, but it's also not the reason people like the series.
I agree that the in-environment battles are a slight improvement, but they're all there is to the game.
XII is missing the set pieces, the small adventure game elements and most importantly the constantly developing story that makes the earlier entries so well paced and entertaining. Or it actually has these in the beginning, but you see less and less of anything else than constant battles in bland environments as the game progresses.
The fact that you can make the battles virtually automatic doesn't help at all

What is the point of a "cool environment" if you teleport to a random battle arena whenever a turn based battle starts? Besides, the Giant Crystal, the Lighthouse, and the Necropolis were much more interesting environments than other games

Gambits + turbo button is a genius gameplay mechanic that eliminates grinding, as long as you've progressed beyond the area. Trying to autopilot with poor gambits or equal levels will get you killed, especially in areas like the Necropolis with Giant Elementals which punish you for doing so.

My 10 year old cousin figured out topple locking halfway through the game and never looked back. It's gameplay is deeply flawed, unlike XII which has no major exploits.

Xenoblades "Kill X rabbits" or "Get X rabbit guts" are a chore. XII has dozens of secret bosses, while xenoblade has ~4 (lol topple lock).

XII has large environments to explore and inspired the environments in Xeno.

Can someone explain me what's the point of making all party members be able to do everything? I mean it takes away a lot of their uniqueness and the potential to be ever used. Who needs customizations if the characters only differ in stats and super move.
