What game has the best graphics?
Only BF and Ryse look decent in that list and both are basically tech demos. TR, DC, and The Order look like last-gen games on PC.
It looks good when you play it because everything's moving in the wind and stuff like that, just like The Witcher, looks terrible in screenshots but when you actually play it it looks neat
It does, it's a linear shit game on top. If you add in vignette, letterbox, and brown filters to any game with a similar art style it will look basically the same.
You just posted a game that looks like a last-gen game on PC and literally is
>the order looks last-gen
I think you're doing this thing on purpose, where you post muddy screens with tons of filters pasted all over it and then claim that it looks great to bait for replies
I don't like your methods mister
I know that the game had to sacrifice quite a lot to look like that, including fucking gameplay, but it looks incredible for a hardware like PS4. If only it was a PC those dodgy restrictions could be lifted.
>looks like a last gen game
graphics and atmosphere is the only good thing that order have
it's looks like a fucking movie at times, crysis character models looks plastic and unnatural
>parroting the filters meme
Joining the anon in posting order screenshots. Are you triggered?
He only has the 5 screenshots he always posts too. It's weak bait.
like, mate give me a challenge
Wolfenstein: New Order looks BONKERS at times.
Lots of detail, MEGATEXTURES, lighting. I specially love the
>looks like a last gen game
>le smoky/smoggy, grainy filters that only slightly works because it's Victorian London and would look like dogshit in any other setting.
this Metro looks better
Order doesnt even have dynamic shadows and lightning.
Its literally a static pre-placed map and still looks worse than russian cheap game.
This. Mister Mosquito is the best
Poor russians wrecking multi-million cinematic corridor shooter gfx.
its just sad
post other games, metro looks like shit
It does, you're just being influenced by the novelty of snowflakes. Driveclub had the same effect on people even though it looks better or worse than years old racers.
That game is really stupid.
I, too, took screenies of that part
Graphics is a small point on the redux, gameplay changes are what matter. The lighting can be annoying as fuck in 2033 redux and they don't even let you keep the 3 gun setup from the original.
>consoles finally hit 2007 pc level almost 10 years later
>even that is only possible at 30fps in a corridor shooter
maybe something litle less darker?
why spew bullshit? there's barely any difference between a 4690k and 4790k in arma3 despite the fact that it is very CPU heavy game
heck, nevermind that, do you even realize the futility of claiming it requires an i7? there are i7s 2x time shittier than a 2500k
This is fucking hilarious, I though you'd say something about hgow there are many different i5s and not specifying which one it is is dumb, but turns out that you're equally ignorant
Get yourself a new monitor, that's not dark at all.
Because the memes must flow. Ignore all the benchmarks that prove i7s have minimal fps improvements compared to i5s of the same age. Anyone without an i7 is clearly a scrub. MEMES MUST FLOW.
Forgot to mention, the original 2033 has better volumetric effects too, they toned it down. The only real positive in the redux is that I don't need to buy a whole new weapon for a scope or silencer.
I didn't say it did.
But Metro at imes can have DAT ATMOSPHERE yo
Says the guy with cheap TN shit.
Since you guys are talking CPUs for vidya.
I got a memecard, and now I need to upgrade my CPU, currently on a Phenom II 960T.
Is it worth it to get a Skylake over a Haswell? I remember hearing that Skylake performs worse in some games.
To be honest, I thought Crysis Warhead didn't look as good as original Crysis.
That game had some God tier face textures at the time.
It's because all nice looking WItcher 3 images are cherry picked or modded. The downgrade really hurt that game.
No game comes close to having these visuals and this scope.
Difference is TW3 still looks worse than them especially in motion. Things like weather, sky, water, and most grass in TW3 are very bad. STALKER did a better job with them.
It has letterbox at 16:9 too.
Cutscenes. Gameplay was fullscreen.
but though seriously!
escort mission? i mean, i know it only lasts for minutes, but seriously that's worst part of the game.
This is why high end graphic cards sell
>The downgrade really hurt that game.
>Difference is TW3 still looks worse than them especially in motion. Things like weather, sky, water, and most grass in TW3 are very bad. STALKER did a better job with them
Hello my good sir! *tips /r atheism*
you're pushing the limits man
No shaders. This is vanilla Crysis.
holy shit that looks terrible
>that mountain on the right
>all the trees look exactly the same
crysis realy eats everything.
you really need to cherrypick bad screenshots.
where as it usually is the otherway around these days.
Is Geralt a sexist manspreading shitlord?
I don't think it looks like shit at all, it just looks nothing like the bullshots ever. CDPR completely lied about the graphics, but at least they made a good game.
Yes. He's also a mansplainer. They even had to downgrade his manlyness in some areas.
How it that a downgrade? It's literally just night lighting vs day lighting.
Still looks incredible.
>It's literally just night lighting vs day lighting.
What's that got to do with his manlyness?
But anyway the cutscene was clearly changed to night time in attempt to hide the huge downgrade.
Graphics don't look as good as Battlefront but still better game.
>How it that a downgrade?
Really? The bottom is literally PC footage.
I agree that MGSV is one of the best looking games of last year, but it didn't help that the screenshot you posted was taken during a cloudy ass day and thus looks unimpressive.
The problem is the absolute lack of color, goddamn does this game look so fucking washed out, technically it may be impressive but it is not appealing to look at all.
There is no restrictions, PS4, hell even a fucking PS3 can do 10x better graphics and performance than PC, it's just that many devs don't push the system to its limit, and dont optimize as well as they should.
Look at the Last of Us or MGSV on PS3. It's pretty amazing that for a launch title The Order managed to look as beautiful as it does, these screenshots doesn't do it justice, just like seeing constant 60fps on a monitor that can support it.
>he's still posting the prealpha footage even though its been discredited a trillion times
its one of the best looking games ever. Deal with it.
Is there even any reason for lolnocolor
also this game has an extreme resemblance to Gears, but Gears looks better and is way more fun
>GTA5 was bright and colorful
>TW3 was bright and colorful
>MGS5 was bright and colorful
Can we all at least be happy that the age of brown and bloom is over apart from piles of shit like The Order? All of those games look better than their previous installment. MGS4 and GTA4 were practically fucking black and white at times, and TW2 had some really shitty shit going on that somehow made it look too colorful and yet also brown and bloom at the same time, like a turd with sprinkles.
I am sitll impressed over how much enemies DMC4 can throw at you at LDK
>every single game ITT is some boring "realistic" shitfest
what a fucking waste
except they introduce new cancerous filters that you can't disable, like chromatic aberration
GTA V doesn't let me disable a certain blur, I don't want "normal" post effects, I want fucking none at all.
That's very rare that it can't be disabled. There's Dying Light that doesn't let you, but the three I listed don't have it or it's disabled. I can't spot the blur you're talking about for GTA5, I've been able to disable the ones that bother me, though I do believe you. Just curious what it is.
I'm happy with it, but currently my biggest annoyance is pic related. GTA 5 and TW3 are big offenders.
I suppose it's to create the illusion of a bigger world. That really does happen according to Bob Ross, but he's still putting detail on the mountains and not making the a complete silhouette.
IPS isn't much better when it comes to black levels, in some cases its worse because of ips glow. VA has decent blacks but a host of other problems. Display technology is actually kind of shitty right now. Hopefully OLED pans out.
While LOD is a thing you are going to have stuff like distance fogging and depth of field to conceal the low quality of shit in the distance.
And you are going to be waiting a long time for LOD to go away, it's an enormous performance boost and a lot better than shit just popping into existence a few feet in front of you.
PC is already capable of good enough draw distance, the exaggerated fog is made primarily for console games.
Will it take a generation for this chromatic aberration meme filter die? Because it looks awful.
It's just lazy developers applying filters to pretend their games look better than it really looks.
MEGATEXTURES are weird technology, I really think Carmak was on to something big but he left IDSoft before technology was finished.
I really believe Bethesda is to blame, they thought that by buying IDSoft they own Carmak and he was probably best coder in gaming industry, but instead they suck his cock and be thankfull he landed in their team, they probably threated him as some code-monkey, so he rushed Rage and left...Its not as he is not one of the most wanted people in industry.
I can even see parts of megatexture tech in Fallout4(also design and gunfight has some influence from IDSoft)
Let's take this moment to remember ubisoft's pretty bullshots
Oh hell yes, Lords of The Fallen was a massively underrated game, gorgeous graphics. After recently picking up LOTF for $10 despite mixed reviews, I have to say that I genuinely believe it's superior to DS2. That sounds ridiculous, but LOTF captured what I loved so much about DS1: tense 1v1 fights and amazing bosses. DS2, on the other hand, was notorious for lazily spamming hoardes of enemies and copypasted boss fights. LOTF is absolutely stunning graphically as well, and removes many of the frustrating elements of DS2 while retaining a high level of challenge. LOTF may not have diverse locations nor a blistering difficulty, but it's an inspired, gorgeous game that I highly recommend to any Souls fan.
I love Wolfenstein TNO, but at times it lookes really bad. I think MEGATEXTURES aren't that good of an idea, when you look at the end product.
that's called lens flare.
It enhances the cinematic experience, thanks to the reproduction of the light that go through the lenses.
Megatextures are not weird technology. They are not even new technology. John Carmack didn't invent the concept, it's been around for a while and was primarily used for things like flight simulators.
Oh look, more shitting on Bethesda. What a surprise to see that here on /v/.
Carmack has been bored of games for a while and has publicly said as much
id had already been gutted long before Bethesda got their hands on them and was not the company he started with some buddies back in the day
Carmack was never really a games designer, he just developed the engines, he was not the director or designer for Rage
Carmack does not code everything by himself, on more than one occasion he received praised for some ingenious code in one of the id engines and it's turned out he was not the one responsible for it
There is no megatextures in Fallout 4 and it doesn't play like an id game at all.
I really wonder what the first game to incorporate lens flare was. I remember noticing it in 2005 for some of Soul Calibur 3's stages, which also implemented neat filters like FXAA and postprocessing on that burning building stage.
Also, it's funny to see how much more intense and pronounced lens flare is nowadays compared to how they were ten years ago. Pic related, very light, simple lens flare.
>a shining shadow, even in dark
The first time I noticed LF in vidya gaems was indeed on BF3. Like, you loo at the sun, and you're even more blind than when you do it IRL.
that guy in the distance looks like he is floating
Warhead was toned down a little, Crytek realized its dumb to have prettiest game on planet no one can actually witness, but the fact stands.
First GPU that was able to run Crysis at some normal level was GT8800 512 mb.
Warhead was maybe 15% less demanding, what they did I dont know, either they optimized or toned down some effects but performance went up to probably unnoticeable downgrade in graphics(something in the lines of :"Tessellation AA from 16x to 8x")
Carmack is a very smart guy but there's a lot of very smart guys working in game development.
reminds me of this:
>"There's a tendency among the press to attribute the creation of a game to a single person," says Warren Spector, creator of Thief and Deus Ex.
And its deserved. Fallout 4 barely has enough quests.
seeing as carmack is really the only person to push the techonology as hard as he did it is expected that he be given credit for a lot of it, even if it is just in rage and wolfy
no need to get triggered by that
>game is about superpowers and shit
>he complains about a floating guy that isn't floating
>Most devs are talentless codemonkeys punching the clock
Not in game development.
Well, maybe in the mobile market or the indie scene or something they are but if you are making AAA games for the major publishers you need to know what the fuck you are doing.
its a graphics thread m8, he shouldnt look like he is floating if he isnt
>but if you are making AAA games for the major publishers you need to know what the fuck you are doing.
im sorry what
most people I know in the AAA market are literally code monkeys
only the higher ups do a lot of really technical work, and thats a very small portion of the actual team size
Is there a way to turn off the checkpoints every 10 seconds in Legends? I tried playing it when it came out but the lack of punishment made the game infinitely less fun than Origins for me.
The Orbis design is copied from Space Odyssey m8
I think you and I have different definitions of what a code monkey is.
My experience of working with code monkeys is they can't implement shit unless you at least give them the entire thing in pseudo-code first, the standard design diagrams aren't enough. And even then you still have to point at all the crap you took for granted was obvious after the code review and have them redo it.
if they just cloned the gameplay from BF2 with the skin of the new game it would be 10/10
but as it stands I cant find fun in it, with the simplistic gunplay and objective modes combined with lack of classes and other issues
I had a little break from The Witcher 3(Fallout 4 fiasco, Underrail & Age of Decadence), maybe 4 months.
Anyway, I knew CDPR were BRO tier devs and they wont let go until everyone will be satisfied.
So, basically, I finished tw3 maybe an month after release and I remember really well graphics and performance of the game(I finished the game when it was patch 1.04, i installed now 1.10 and game looks much better and runs exceptionally well).
If I add some really, really great SweetFX presets and texture packs, game looks as a showcase in how art style, realism, atmosphere, graphics, physics and realistic view on peoples hardware are in perfect balance.
Certainly not the prettiest, but Wolfenstein TOB had some of the prettiest and coolest designs I've seen recently.
The screenshot quality makes it look much worse than it felt.
I've played so much battlefront 2 that if the new one was basically a clone with a remodel I would have gotten board of it. Might as well play the actual game it's cloned after.
Far Cry 4 looks really good.
lmao irl graphics are shit
No seriously get glasses, or maybe you got the wrong kind of glasses, you can clearly see the ground below him. Well maybe not you, since you're obviously born with a defect.
Daily reminder that stylistic visuals are objectively better than photorealism.
And the opposite end of the spectrum has led to the faux-"cinematic" trash that has been thrust upon us these past few years.
There are poor examples of every style, but done right, stylized art will always triumph over realism.
Despite our best efforts, photorealism in video games tends to age like milk, and at best approaches the uncanny valley, never looking quite right.
>All this people with shit opinions
Here pic related. Technically impressive and also amazing colorful art-style instead grimdark grey shit.
>I play mature games for mature gamers, such as myself
Shadow Warrior deserves a mention
Just to be clear i played all the games im about to talk about. The Order graphics are way shitier than they seem. I was underwhelmed when i played it. Battlefront was okey nothing crazy. The best graphics ive ever experienced was The last of Us, also the last time video game graphics left me in awe. Nothing even on ps4 nor pc comes close. Ive heard Uncharted 4 also look like nothing seen before, we ll see.
spike armor is retardedly useless, pointless weapon saw blade which is ridiculously fat
monsters wearing underwear because they're shy?
and people say shadow warrior is good, blows my mind.
>let me just check this vital information from this monitor behind my back
shit design choices made by shit designers
maybe its subjectively good game for you who knows, but ill never play it after seeing that screenshot
is this modded somehow ? sweetfx maybe ?
I run the game maxed except hairworks off on a 970, it definitely doesnt look like that.
Now I havent played much and I have already noticed how much the time of the day can alter lighting and how realistic it looks so that may be it.
I love Psychonauts art style, despite it having being made by a libtard SJW-enabler
everything is autism these days, so tell me something I didnt already know
