>Buy Pokemon: Omega Ruby
>Play through the first 6 gyms
>Get distracted by other shit(work, charity, etc.)
>Start playing Shantae and the Pirate's Curse knowing full well that I haven't finished Omega Ruby
>Sell Omega Ruby because I realize I'm never going to finish it
Holy shit. I think it finally happened. I've finally grown out of Pokemon. It took almost 20 years but I did it.
What do I do now?
>I've finally grown out
You don't "grow out" of hobbies. You were part of the fad bandwagon that only played the series because it was popular or accessible, not because you legitimately like the monster breeder/jrpg genre.
Why haven't you been playing Super Mystery Dungeon?
You didn't. You never had the hobby in the first place.
You say you've been playing for 20 years, meaning you started back when EVERYONE was playing, back when the games and anime were fresh and accessible and acceptable. You caught onto it because it was popular, not because you discovered it yourself and found something you legitimately liked. And between the constant pushing and pressure from the community and Nintendo, your nostalgia from entering a franchise when you were still in school, and you inability to leave your comfort zone and actually explore a fluid and fleshed-out genre, you've stagnated on a bandwagon that you should have left years ago.
Just accept that you never truly liked the franchise and move on to whatever new fad flavor franchise is.
Time to play a mature game for mature gamers such as yourself.
I playthrough every Pokemon game I played at least twice, some tree times or more. Usually when I beat a Pokemon game, I put hundreds of hours into it. ORAS is the only game I've played in the series that I have no urge to replay. After I beat Delta Episode, I just put the game down and never looked back.
I might look at it when more ROMhacks comeout for it and stable emulation happens, but that wont happen for another ten years at the very least.
Nah, you just didn't like the game. I did the same exact thing with Black/White. Skipped B&W2, picked up Y, and loved it.
People shit on X & Y but I was never interested in endgame content in pokemon anyway.
Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light,
Surrender now, or prepare to fight
MEOWTH, that's right!
I got two gyms into Y and four into Ruby before dropping each. Couldn't get into them at all. And I know it's not because I 'grew out of it' (I'm 25), because Black and White 2 were fucking awesome and honestly the pillar of the series IMO
No, Gen 6 is just garbage for a number of reasons.
ORAS was garbage anyways; not like they had much of a chance because gen3 was the weakest Gen of the franchise. If it wasn't for the fact so many endearing game mechanics were changed along with it, it would have been completely forgotten
The only good thing to come out of gen6 were fairies to finally balance out dragons and make steel and poison actually useful competitively, but then they threw all of that balancing out the door with giving me gas to further break already broken OP pokes
>mfw Fairy types fuck over Fighting, Dark, Psychic and Bug while barely making a dent in Dragon
Fairies are only 2x Super Effective against Dragons. It's not any more effective than any other weakness.
I don't know why people are doing backflips over this matchup like it's significant. It's not like Dragons are fearing fairies any more than Ice or other Dragons.
