So let me get this straight, in order for VR to be done right you need at least 90fps, and the resolution of these vr goggles is what 2160x1080?
How is a PS4 gonna run a game at that resolution at 90fps if it doesn't have the power to run a game at 1080p 60fps?
The PS4 just isn't powerful enough for VR
It might not be able to run current gen games at 1080@60, but it might be able to run PS2 games at higher resolution and fps. WiiU runs games at 1080@60 because it's running graphics that are comparable to the PS360 games in terms of technical prowess (they look much better because of Nintendo art direction which looks way better than most games' AD out there, not because of strong hardware)
>the ps4 does have 1080/60 games like yakuza, meme harder
I'd agree with you if most games on the console weren't running at 900@30 with drops, but that's not what happens.
most games on every system have shit performance, its called I can't afford a $400 gpu. average pc is worse than a console ffs. no dev is stupid enough to make a low fps vr game
stronger hardware than a PS4 costs the same, unless you can't assemble your parts or you don't know how to look for parts online at decent prices
also you can lower settings on PC to achieve higher fps, you can't do that on consoles
Just remember those specs allow PC to handle every possible AAA game, instead of being selective what games can be in vr.
Wrong. That same game will have to be rendered twice for vr meaning further downgrades would take place to ensure solid 60 fps. No dips allowed so they cant pull that partial 60 fps trick. Then interpolation is expected to cover the rest? If interpolation was a silver bullet, the rift would have lowered its specs and used it to fill in for 60 frames as well.
by then graphics will be even better on desktop PCs, and current graphics will be a joke, and so on
you can already play it on a small helmet, you just have to put up with PS1 graphics (then again, the PS4 struggles with PS2 graphics on Morpheus, so I might be wrong on even that)
the issue is the market accepting it, not individuals... though with the right administration, it could probably survive on a niche consumerbase
I don't think most companies want to go for niche though, they need to grow year by year, etc
They could turn off fancier graphical features like shittt blurring, "volumetric" fog and chromatic aberrations. PS4 can run games at 1080p 60fps but you faggots are obsessed with "muh graphics" and that's what developers give you.
Are the people who post on this board just the youngest stupidest faggots in gaming or something? How utterly fucking deluded do you have to be to actually think that a company is just going to release a device in conjunction with another device and just simply not have it up to standard?
Take 5 fucking minutes to read about the goddamn thing, literally every single media outlet loves it, the developers say the graphics are on PAR with what the Rift and Vive are putting out (console optimization, John Carmack tweet) and it also has in-house and 3rd party software including exclusives. It's price is also going NOT going to be $600, it's going to be plug and play, there isn't going to be any spyware from Taiwan, it's the only thing with Summer Lesson, it isn't a rip off, etc.
Stop being a fucking pre emptively attacking child - this thing does not compete with your precious $2000 PC VR and the jews at Valve. The amount of stupidity over these devices especially on /v/ is making this place look like the majority of posters are 12. STOP.
>this is what owning a PS4 is like
>turning off blurring
you silly bean
>you faggots are obsessed with "muh graphics"
wake up, people obsessed with graphics are on PC, PS4 is for brand loyalists and normies who can't see the difference between 30 and 60 fps, and probably don't even notice dips to sub 20 fps
Hard to blame some console fanboys for their stout ignorance- I didn't notice how bad my 360 was untill I plugged in a HDMI the first time. People don't go out of their way to find out what they're missing.
>Stop being a fucking pre emptively attacking child
Funny how many Sonyggers were acting like screaming chimps yesterday about the rift before it even came out
This is Sony we're talking about, come on.
>People don't go out of their way to find out what they're missing.
if it was just this it'd be fine, but they get defensive when you insult their consoles and try to argue about shit they know nothing about, as if you're attacking them instead of their consoles
that won't happen, they're in a constant state of spinning with their ''''''''logic'''''''
dem buzzwords man
>enhanced PC GPU
>supercharged PC architecture
The PS4 cannot create the image the VR headsets need.
The external device allows that image to be created.
It has NOTHING to do with performance and wil not improve the PS4 in anyway.
Jesus fucking christ at least read about this shit before you post.
The fact that the PS4 actually needs an external GPU just to struggle through VR only highlights what a fucking travesty this console generation really is.
Don't expect it to be cheap either.
It's $299 hardware, it obviously can't output 2160x1080 resolution at 120fps with the same graphical fidelity as normal games on the system
No matter what you guys think, at the end of the day the success of these VR units is going to come down to
>$299 console with a $(500)? headset, games developed purely for VR
>$1000 minimum spec PC with a $500 headset, 'VR compatible' games
>One looks like a dev unit for nerds
>One looks like a cool consumer product you wouldn't mind in your living room
Entry price, accessibility and presentation is absolutely everything right now
