It was told well, but the story itself was utterly pedestrian and uninteresting. Everything about The Last of Us feels like it was designed by suits siting in a conference room aiming for maximum appeal and "oscar bait" material instead of passionate artists. The execution by those artists was still very good but the concept itself sucks.

It's just the walking dead season 1 and 2.

Are you fucking serious? TW2's story completely strayed away from Geralt's life as a witcher. There was no reason for him to get involved with Foltest but he just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. TW2 was good, but it was basically a wild goose chase for Geralt trying to clear his name, and in the end, I actually let Letho go anyway because he had information on Yennefer and it's not a witcher's business to get involved with kings.

At least TW3 had you fighting the wild hunt, which is actually relevant because Geralt was a red rider at some point in his life.

Not to mention Geralt already have a resume of helping Foltest multiple times before (in the book and in the game)

Witchers have no business fraternizing with kings, and he kind of did it against his own will and it still interferes with the whole witcher neutrality thing. Geralt was called upon by Foltest for the first time when Foltest wanted him to lift his daughter's curse of the striga and then after he lost his memory he saved Foltest's life and then plays into the events of TW2. It also doesn't help that Triss was adviser to Foltest at the time and she manipulated the fuck out of Geralt in TW2, which is why Yennefer is the best romance that is also canon.

Wasn't the story basically that the man had lost his teenage daughter during the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse and then he met another teenage girl later. Then you escort her outside the safe zone to the headquarters of some organization which wants to use her to cure the infection because she's immune but it turns out the teenager will die and the main character has become so attached to her (as a replacement for his daughter) that he can't let her go?

Geralt already admitted in the books the whole Witcher neutrality stuff was made up so he would have a excuse to not get involved in stuff he doesn't want to get dragged into. And it was already noted in the games by other people the 'witcher neutrality' was an convenient excuse

1) he was dragged into a lot of conflicts and politics anyway
2) he have a really hard time turning his head away from trouble

If you cut out the year of character development between when he meets the new one and gets to the HQ place then yes. You can explain anything simply if you try.
That said, the story wasn't an especially great one. It's the execution that they did well on.
