Almost all games are only beaten by around 10% of the people that play them regardless of the difficulty. And no, this is not a "modern gamers" thing, it's been like this since the 90s when they started looking into it.

Honestly my favorite character action game. I realize that it's not the best in either mechanics (DMC) or difficulty (NG), or even ridiculousness (W101) but something about it just has always clicked with me. prolly Bayo.

Things bayo 2 did wrong >no sai-fung >certain weapons only have half movements with no utility at all >damage numbers increased but weave damage lowered and stun taken away comepletely. Meaning use of umbran climax is needed >UC takes no positioning, has a 1 second activation delay which ruins distortion, basically button mashing with too much damage >witch twist useless and only uses weaves in UC >enemies break combos >WT in NSIC >360 punch gun aim now does knockback which ruins combos and consumes magic >magic punishment for getting hit taken away, combo counter diminishing returns lowered so that you no longer have to manage combos/magic gain. >salamandra is killroy 2.0 with more damage and a stinger >more floaty, less gravity on moves meaning airtime is more of a joke. >cooldown on jump cancels >skill challenges are a joke >overall easier >more enemies to break combos not that it matters since WT on NSIC >air fights restrict movement and are pretty meh at best.
Bayo 2 is good but not great and did more reductions than added anything worthwhile.

Items actually lower your score. You are NOT intended to use them if you intend to get good rankings at the end of each chapter. I guess they could be used as a crutch but if you do, it basically means that you suck at the game and it pretty much acknowledges that fact, like Devil May Cry.

I wanted to have some integrity and avoid using items anyway, but in the end, I said, "Fuck it," and abused the hell out of them.
They're pretty much one of the main reasons why that game is so much easier than the first.
I always forget that items even exist in these types of games, ever since DMC where I ignored them because of the rank reduction.
Even in Bayo 2 where you're not punished for using them I still never remembered to. And I've been playing Transformers Devastation lately and always just sell the items even though that game is absurdly hard on the highest difficulty.
Fuck flame Ardor. Fuck Kinship. Fuck the Temperentia fight. Fuck the one hour bike section with the bugged curve. Fuck the highway level in general. Fuck OHK qtes. Fuck Golem. Fuck the shmup level, seriously stop putting them in each of your games, Kamiya. Especially fuck Gracious and Glorious. Especially fuck Jubileus' black hole attack. Especially fuck the lipstick and solar system section on higher difficulty.
No bayonetta 2 is literally easier than 1 by a mile, you just kinda suck especially if you had to use items. They hand you WT on the highest difficulty if that isn't easy enough with umbran climax in the mix.

That's exactly what I said, air combos are a joke in bayo 2 and way too easy to pull off. I didn't mention charge bullet because I didn't feel like listing all the other shit like the piss poor co-op, the handing out of rings, the addition of whips that can actually combo and turn the game into GoW without punishing the player at all, it goes on and on really.
Also the lumen sage fights were pretty great, especially when you disable WT using trinkets. The problem is that you can't really stun them without UC and they don't match up to the double jeanne fight in Bayo1

Okay so you don't really have much of an argument then thanks for the reading comprehension. Which by the way only really works on jeanne because in the trails she doesn't have her full moveset because her singular fights are just as dull which is why you fight two and why bayo's strength is never the bosses. The singular ones have always lacked combo potential.
You've given me no mechanical reason other than not building combos which is inherent in every singular fight except for large bosses which have been subpar at best. Maybe if you actually played the game rather than just listing vstyle tournament players you'd have something to go on.
