I really don't understand this shit. Why are they advertising mercedes and southwest airlines? Do they really think that racing in a mercedes car in mario kart or playing a southwest airlines themed level in mario maker is going to make people more likely to buy those things?
>>322972341 >>322973501 >Splatoon Yeah let's release an incomplete game and then give free DLC, we're the good guys! >Mario Kart 8 Yeah let's offer the same number of tracks as the previous game, and then we can sell 50% more tracks as DLC! Totally a better deal than Smash Bros we swear!
>>322976390 >Splatoon Not even "free DLC", it was just updates. Like what happens in other multiplayer shooters.
>Mario Kart 8 Had the same amount of tracks as the previous THREE games, nobody cared. Then months after release they offered up 50% more content at a reasonable price.
Smash Bros DLC is fucking garbage, four dollars for a single character, two dollars for one stage, and a shitload of garbage Mii costumes you will never use because nobody with a third of a brain actually uses the Mii fighters.
>>322977080 Daily reminder that if you enjoy video games being in a language you can understand, you support censorship. Daily reminder that if you ever bought a region locked console, that you support region lock. Daily reminder that if you support consoles at all, you are the reason PC games are "lacking" Daily reminder that if you support piracy, you created denuvo.
If you are someone that doesn't buy games, from their original place of origin, supports localization, pirates games, and actually sees nothing wrong in playing games that are below 60fps and 1080p, you are the cancer killing gaming.
>nintendo: we're not selling enough units, did we miss the call-back / remake fad? maybe we over projected the interest of original wii owners, not making the game casual enough. how are we gonna meet our stock holder expectations? >we'd like to thank those who spent their hard earned money on super mario emulator by announcing FREE levels starring your favorite corporations
>>322977737 There was never any withheld content, 32 courses is and has been the standard for Mario Kart, and it'll probably continue to be.
The Mario Kart 8 DLC is half another Mario Kart plopped on top of the one we got, we didn't initially have less, we only got MORE, and the asking price was reasonable. Given all the content on offer for how good the price is, it's more like an old expansion pack than a DLC.
>>322977973 >>322978504 That's why I'm comparing Mario Kart "tracks" to Smash Bros "characters", because they are the real content in these games. Mario Kart tracks have not increased in the base game for the last 3 games as you've said. While Smash Bros have significantly increased its characters. Nintendo could have easily made 32 characters the "standard" for Smash Bros' roster, and then charge you cheaply for additional characters. Would you think you're getting a good deal then?
>>322978374 Localization is censorship. If a game isn't in a language you can understand, then the solution should be for you to LEARN that language, not asked for it to be mistranslated and butchered just so you can understand it and play it by way of localization. Localization is censorship. Therefore, if you enjoy video games being in a language you can understand, then you enjoy and support censorship. And no, this isn't bait, its fact. Localization is censorship.
>>322979974 Incorrect, its fact. There exist words in different languages that have no translated counterpart, so attempting to translated said language into another language is purposefully altering the original work. Which is censorship. Localization is censorship. No matter how mad you get, you can't prove this wrong.
Smash Bros. characters are set, there will always be the original twelve, there will always be these Mario characters, these Zelda characters, these Kirby characters, and so on. It's stupid to compare that to Mario Kart because no Mario Kart has ever had the same courses as its predecessor. You expect the roster of Smash Bros. to be mostly the same with some additions and subtractions with every new game, while you expect each new Mario Kart to have a completely different set of courses, half new, half old, but nothing is expected. Hoped for, but not expected.
The DLC for Smash feels like garbage because the roster is already about fifty characters, and buying the five, soon to be seven, extra characters (three of which are veterans, two of whom are clones) is gonna cost you, for one version of the game that is, about twenty-two bucks, thirty once the other characters come out. That's half the price of the base game for seven characters, not even a fifth of the roster size.
>>322981204 Mario Kart managed to create the expectation that 32 tracks in every game is okay. Had Smash Bros managed to create the same exceptions that there will be 32 characters in every game. They could instead charge you something like $2 per additional character, which people would think is a good deal. With a 58 character roster, you can do the maths yourself.
>>322982516 You're trying to make it sound like there's some sneaky manipulation going on behind the course amount in Mario Kart, there isn't. It just makes sense mathematically, sixteen new courses, sixteen old courses, split into four cups of four courses each. Reasonably, they could have bumped it up to forty courses and kept things even, but that sets a different precedent, if the amount of tracks had increased steadily since DS, say two more cups per entry, we'd be up to 56 base tracks in 8. Now this sounds nice, but by this point they'd have exhausted all options for retro stages (and they kind of already have, there aren't too many left). Continuing that way, there'd be more repeated retro stages and even MORE retro stages from the previous installment. That may be what people want from Smash Bros., but that isn't what people want from Mario Kart.
>>322983432 What sneaky manipulation? I'm saying you get increasingly more content from the base game with Smash Bros, while the DLC is more expensive to make up for it. With Mario Kart you get more or less the same amount of content in the base game, while the DLC is cheaper to make up for it. Then people say shit like >That's half the price of the base game for seven characters, not even a fifth of the roster size. What happens when Smash Bros reaches 100 characters for the base game? Are you going to start saying >That's half the price of the base game for seven characters, not even a TENTH of the roster size!
>>322986637 That's not even including the Wii U, the GC adapter, the GC controllers, the TV, the couch, the electricity and internet bills, and a house to put all these in. $200,000+ just to play Smash Bros, WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO
>>322987756 hmmm, no, you can access the 8 player mode without 8 controllers. additional irl friends isnt in game content. dont wanna be unfair here, or anything. >>322988160 yeah, theres gold mario and like, shit like that, its pretty crazy. allll right there on nintendos own amiibo content compatibility chart. like this, 3 different mii amiibos. for the MII character. each with its own content.
Maybe I'm mistaken here because I've never purchased an amiibo, but isn't the point to own a collectible of a character you like and as a bonus it adds some trivial content for certain games? I mean, it's not must-have DLC, it's just a little thing here or there that pertains to your amiibo of choice.
>>322990148 What the fuck are you even doing? Why didn't you cross off the Super Mario series Peach and Bowser but all of the others? Why are you crossing off the Mii Gunner and Brawler? Why did you include the Skylander characters, Green Yarn Yoshi, and Wolf Link?
>“A challenge that we’re facing right now is, our earliest goal for the Amiibo was to have these connected to software and have them enhance the play experience for the consumer, and for other consumers to say ‘I see my friend using this Amiibo with that software and it looks great,’ and again increase that attractiveness of that combination. What we’re seeing instead is that the Amiibo are being picked up more as a collection item at this point, rather than, say, as an interactive item with software. And so we haven’t really established them as an enhancement for all of our software at this point.”
>“I think again that challenge is, how can we connect that IP to our software in general, and using the Amiibo to further enhance the play activity will allow us to get more people looking at, they see the Amiibo, they tie it back to the game experience, and then we’re creating a stronger connection with general knowledge of our IP and that fun experience they have.”
>>322990596 honestly, the oven went off so i had to bail, so i just finished and sent it. figured someone else may be cool enough and fill in the rest, but, eh, you never know. were you...expecting an honest answer? i could go full shitpost or something.
>>322990674 >>322990675 WELL SHIT, better tell nintendo the official websites fucking wrong! or you could take a quick look at the wiki and see >allow the character represented by the figurines to be used in-game as a customized CPU opponent custom cpu ai, which, sorry, i thought was related to just training. is it...for more of the game?
>>322990972 > i thought was related to just training. is it...for more of the game? Nothing to do with training. You get an ai tied to the figure that slowly gets better as it fights. You can feed it equipment to change its stats.
>>322991605 You already get the complete copy of the game. The Amiibos are literally make your own AI enemy, all you get to do is make it difficulty 9 level there is no hidden content. Every thing you can do for amiibos you can do it on your console.
