The Mario Kart 8 DLC is half another Mario Kart plopped on top of the one we got, we didn't initially have less, we only got MORE, and the asking price was reasonable. Given all the content on offer for how good the price is, it's more like an old expansion pack than a DLC.

Smash Bros. characters are set, there will always be the original twelve, there will always be these Mario characters, these Zelda characters, these Kirby characters, and so on. It's stupid to compare that to Mario Kart because no Mario Kart has ever had the same courses as its predecessor. You expect the roster of Smash Bros. to be mostly the same with some additions and subtractions with every new game, while you expect each new Mario Kart to have a completely different set of courses, half new, half old, but nothing is expected. Hoped for, but not expected.
The DLC for Smash feels like garbage because the roster is already about fifty characters, and buying the five, soon to be seven, extra characters (three of which are veterans, two of whom are clones) is gonna cost you, for one version of the game that is, about twenty-two bucks, thirty once the other characters come out. That's half the price of the base game for seven characters, not even a fifth of the roster size.

Maybe I'm mistaken here because I've never purchased an amiibo, but isn't the point to own a collectible of a character you like and as a bonus it adds some trivial content for certain games? I mean, it's not must-have DLC, it's just a little thing here or there that pertains to your amiibo of choice.
