It's the only MOBA that I can tolerate, if it even can be considered one.

The cast is fine, if not bullshit at times. Worst offenders are Illidan and Kael'thas. No other character can be as bullshit frustrating as these two fags; you're either really fucking good, or they're dragging your team down single handedly. There is no in between.
The maps are aesthetically pleasing, other than the raven one. FUCK that map.
The Pay to Win aspect is hilariously non-existent; all useful stuff can be earned through a moderate amount of gameplay. That is, so long as your group doesn't suck.
The team aspect is required, which is a good thing. Entire team levels, not just one dick sucker getting fed. This means you need your entire team to not be stupid, and you can do great with less time spent than other games.

The fact that it's free and has zero pay to win other than quicker player leveling (which only lets you get into rank matches or get your WoW pet) means it's a good game. It's definitely better than those number crunching games like LoL and Dota2, is more accessible to new players, and is much easier to master. Also, one of the few cases where less is more. Fuck 30+ keybinds, 6-8 is enough.

I go in phases with hots. I'll play the shit out of it for a month, then take a break for a month. Been like that since the alpha. Still enjoyable occasionally though, it's less stressful than Dota 2 since it's just easier to pick up and the games don't last long. I like the variety of maps, I think that goes a long way to make the game better since you're not just playing the exact same shit all the time

no the developers have clearly stated they aimed for a fun and casual game that fits their template of "easy to learn, hard to master" but as the game progressed through the Alpha they got overwhelming feedback to make it more E-Sports, so they decided to throw some tournaments for the fanbase. So yes its kind of both but "fun" came first.

Only part that infuriates me. You're not rewarded for making great plays but rewarded by not making shit plays. Individual skills have little impacts and it's ridiculously hard to carry games. If I want to carry, I have to babysit my entire team by telling them what to do and when to retreat, AT ALL TIMES. I have to watch for overextending players, I have to watch for missing people in their lanes and ping danger to my mates.
It's really exhausting if you want to win.
Or I could just "play for fun" and ride the 50% winrate train but that's just unacceptable for me.
