Every 3D ps2 game uses the analog for movement. The only purpose of the dpad is for menus (which the analog stick can do just fine) and 2D games which are sadly a rarity these days.

Imagine a dpad that controls not only up and down, left and right, but also in and out. A 3 dimensional dpad shaped like a ball that is its own standalone controller that can be used with our mouths because the tongue has a surprising amount of control.

The wireless 3D ballpad would work in tandem with a second controller used with the hands and it would naturally have more buttons than typical controllers of today because the real estate normally reserved for a 2D dpad would be replaced with more buttons. More buttons allow for more inputs, more button combinations, resulting in more options for the player and deeper mechanics for the game overall.

Extra mechanism can be built into the 3D ballpad, for example, vibration. To add extra flare and immersion to the game, the ballpad can vibrate into the player's throat, effectively suffocating them. The wet dream of "die in the game, die in real life" would be fulfilled. Players who do not seek such hardcore adrenaline can also control the 3D ballpad with their anus sphincters and the vibrations will feel good in their butts and compound the pleasure of gaming with a sexual one.
