Why do most people act like Splatoon is the only new Nintendo IP since the 90s?
>>322944362
Because Geist, Cubivore, Battalion Wars, Eternal Darkness, Reginleiv, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Trace Memory, Hotel Dusk, Soma Bringer, Drill Dozer, Elite Beat Agents, Fossil Fighter, Starfy, Photo Dojo, Golden Sun, Captain Rainbow, and Endless Ocean are dead series.
The Xeno* series, Chibi-Robo- and Animal Crossing series would be better off dead.
Literally the only games that seem to be receiving any Nintendo love are Splatoon and Pikmin.
>>322944362
"loli squid-gurls! LOL!" And it's relatively new and pushed heavily by Nintendo.
>>322944749
>They are dead hencecthey don't count
Kill yourself. This is exactly why Nintendo play it safe with its older series. And then you also complain about rehashes. Really, kill yourself.
>>322945016
I don't complain about rehashes unless they're unnecessary, like Twilight Princess HD. If Nintendo can't be assed to take any gambles on moderately-unpopular games, I have no reason to buy any of their games other than the rare few that I REALLY want.
>>322944362
I really hope W101 and Codename STEAM get sequels.
Disgustingly underrated. And 101 is close half a million sales with pretty much no advertising, that should count for something?
>>322944362
When are we going to get Geist 2? That game was awesome.
>Xeno
>Called nintendo IP
>>322945572
Nintendo's handling of the game was retarded. No advertising (though allegedly Japan got a commercial), and America made the fucked decision to release it two days before Grand Theft Auto V when all the normies were out getting that.
>>322945572
Nintendo should be fucking ashamed of themselves for releasing W101 during October 2013 when GTAV was coming out with zero advertising whatsoever the way they did. Who does that?
Even for the shaky justification for that, with the audiences of the game being different and audiences between the Wii U and HD consoles being different altogether, it was still dumb as hell.
>>322944362
Because marketing
>>322945979
>>322946064
probably didn't matter anyway - normies don't own Wii Usapart from myself
>>322945979
mfw Xenoblade got a ton of commercials on adult swim but W101 didn't
mfw W101 was too early in development to be considered for Smash
mfw W101 was too late to be considered for amiibos which would have easily helped sales
fuck
>>322945937
Xenoblade is a Xeno game in name only. It's original name was just Monado.
Because all there new IPs are failures
>>322946243
It's not even just normies, as much as I hate to admit it. Hardcore gamers/gaming enthusiasts love GTA too. It's super popular among most gaming crowds. Even they were going to buy GTAV over W101, even the types who actually seek out and buy more under-the-radar games like that. It was a stupid move by Nintendo. Even worse since iirc, Wii U had like, almost nothing else coming out that year anyway, except for Pikmin 3 and SM3DW. They easily could've released it a month earlier or something.
>>322945937
It literally is now, retard. Nintendo bought Monolith Soft.
Animal crossing, Nintendogs, and Splatoon are the only IP'S worth a shit on that list.
>>322946415
>custom robo
>65
>>322946415
>all this cherry picking
Come on, anon. You're better than that.
>>322946415
Funny how this image doesn't list games that actually got a good reception, like Elite Beat Agents or Xenoblade.
Also I'd argue that a lot of Sony's exclusives aren't even really that good. Their studios are generally just very good at taking the currently most popular type of game and making a bretty gud, competent entry in that genre. Out of any of those, I'd say only Ico, SotC, and TLoU were any good. Also only SotC, Flower, Tearaway, and Gravity Rush were really original. At least Nintendo tries to do something different with their original IPs, for better or worse.
>>322944362
Are you an idiot? None of those games were created by Nintendo EAD, they were all created by other developers and published by Nintendo on their platforms. When people mention Splatoon as a surprising new IP, it's because Nintendo's main in house development teams hadn't worked on anything with new characters/world/gameplay concept since maybe Animal Crossing
>>322945937
Sorry, Mr. Frog, but Xeno is indeed now a Nintendo IP for all intents and purposes. Hell, one of their protagonists made it into a fucking Smash Bros. and wasn't billed as a third-party.
>>322944362
Im still pissed that Zengeki no Reginleiv didnt get localized in the states.
It was Earth Defense Force with norse mythology and big dumb leveling swords. I waited with baited breath for every bit of news in highschool but we never got it.
>>322947680
Shulk is actually in a really weird place on the roster, it goes:
[normal ninty crew][clones][shulk][3rd party][DLC][miis][random]
>>322946986
>Nintendo tries to do something different with their original IPs
Yeah, right. For the most part they've been playing it very safe this gen with their original IPs.
>>322948349
They could make more IPs but the new IPs they have made are fairly unique.
>the Wonderful 101 (only published by Nintendo but they obviously had a hand in the game)
>Splatoon
>Pushmo
>Dillon's Rolling Western
>Nintendo Land
>>322949015
Oh, shit. I misread the post. When you said "original" I thought you were talking about their older IPs.
I'm a faggot today.
>>322949302
>I'm a faggot today.
You are every day
>>322946651
>Eternal Darkness
>Pikmin
>Pandora's Tower
>Last Story
>Xenoblade
>WarioWare
>Wonderful 101
>Codename Steam
>Splatoon
>Bad
Nigga I will fight you.
>>322944749
>The Xeno* series, Chibi-Robo- and Animal Crossing series would be better off dead.
Please tell us why.
