>More 2d levels than 3d
>Parkour never works in 2d and just gets in the way
>Worst bosses in the entire series
>Wisps are pointless and don't work well
>Too many awful gimmick levels
>Sky world shamelessly reuses assets
>Bad story even for a sonic game, nothing is explained
And that's why it's a bad game, anon. The only good thing we got out of it was Zeena porn
Only good thing that came out of it was the Zelda DLC which didn't have that gravity gimmick in the beginning showing it works much better then with the crappy gravity.
I was incredibly frustrated with the gameplay, but once I started imagining that I'm playing a Mario game it clicked and became fun.
Story was fine, Adventure furfags with their shit deviantart stories need to kill themselves immediately.
LW was still a bad game though, hopefully whatever comes out this year is better.
Story was not fine, even for a sonic game it's incredibly retarded
The "lost hex" and "hateful eight" or whatever they were called are never explained in the slightest. They just show up, and then die
Perfect, as I said, anything more complex than a Mario game's story attracts autists.
If Sonic games regressed in story to the point of the Genesis games, they would be less shitty.
Did they even explain how the fuck Tails ended up robotized and even had an arm cannon yet was back to normal in the very next scene as soon as the Camera was off him?Or why they played Eggman's fall the first time for drama when a couple of scenes later Sonic drops him from Lost Hex, which was definitely at a height where a fall would kill him yet he's fine? Or why they implied Knuckles and Amy died yet had Sonic easily murder all of the deadly six even when they ganged up on him 3 on 1? Shit, why id they make Tails such a salty bitch in this game about an eggman team up when they've been doing that shit for years already? Seriously who wrote this half assed story? WHY ARE THEY STILL USING META HUMOR?! Fuck the happy tree friends writers, they can't write dialogue for shit. Eggman and his lines were the only good thing from this game.
>Sonic will never be a simple 2d platformer with no dialogue again
>the new writers are shit, they can't write dialogue!
They don't even have a consistent explanation for why Bowser does all the shit he does, because it doesn't matter, the story is just an excuse to have gameplay. A simplistic story should really only be a detraction if the game is clearly trying to place heavy emphasis on the plot.
I still have no fucking idea why people care about Sonic's story.
The blue fucker should have stayed mute, maybe today Sega would have made many games that prioritize fun gameplay over appealing retarded DA autists.
Here's a novel idea
They make Eggman the only one who can talk, while the animal cast all only gesture like they did in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Maybe the odd grunt for death sounds/boosting and so on
Mike Pollock's Eggman is probably the only voice in Sonic that isn't cringe-worthy, and for that matter Eggman is probably the only character that ever gets funny lines (some of their recent attempts at making Sonic and Tails be witty and sarcastic have made my balls crawl up inside my body).
>Caring about story at Sonic games
>Playing Sonic games for their stories
That's not the point retard. The point is that you either put in a good story, or no story at all. The original Sonic games had next to no story, so it was relatively inoffensive. Most/all of the 3D Sonic games had shit stories, but they still weren't as shittily written as the recent string of games (Colors/Generations/Lost World).
Lost World has a fair handful of cutscenes. It's all well and good to say "they don't care about story", but if that's the case, why not just do an opening cutscene and and ending cutscene, and give them as little dialog as possible?
Just need a story like Unleashed that has an existing plot unlike whatever they've been doing for Colors through Lost World.
Basically in those games the do a cutscene at the beginning of the world and at the 3rd level of the world usually for hte case of Lost World and Colors basically.
Generations was after you beat each boss. Only weird one is where they commented about Chemical Plant Zone the only level in the game where both sonic and tails are in that level and have a cutscene. They don't do this with any other one besides right when Eggman gets capterued after the Egg Dragoon fight. Which is really weird might have shown that the game was rushed. Rest of the cutscenes in that game basically take place in the White World.
Yeah basically I'd rather get another light hearted story like Unleashed then get what we've been getting recently. Or just go the Classic approach and just have cutscenes showing the transitioning of levels.
It's mediocre like every Sonic game since Unleashed (except Generations, which was miraculously pretty good).
Yeah, that was easily the best level. Shame the whole game wasn't like that.
Pretty much this. Sonic games don't need a story, but in a series known for having shitty fanfiction-tier stories Lost World was bad even by that standard. Same with the boss fights: the series has never been known for hard bosses, but even relative to the rest of the series Lost World had the easiest boss fights ever.
Cutscenes looked nice, sure, but the dialogue and story were terrible and every bit as cringey as any of the newer games. Every time Chip opened his mouth part of me wanted the game to crash so I had an excuse to play something else.
Eggman does a thing that summons an evil creature, tries to control the creature, gets his shit slapped, Super Sonic beats the creature. That is the total of the plot.
The character dialogue is debatable, but it wasn't nearly as cringey most of the 3D games.
Crazy thing? In 3D segments, Sonic is actually slower when moving left and right than he is moving forward. Try it out next time you get the chance. I'm not bullshitting you. This was an intentional design choice to have the player constantly jumping between two different movement speeds.
>more 2d levels than 3d
I'm sick and tired of 2d sonic games. Just make a full 3d sonic game for fuck sake. No more this bullshit of adding 2d to what should be a complete 3d game with full 360 controls.
Why is sega first attempt at placing sonic in a 3d world (sonic jam and sa1) the best attempts to date?
They were doing fine but all of a sudden they felt the need to change the formula and screw everything.
Just fucking make a proper 3d sonic game. Make Sonic Adventure 3.
A good Sonic Adventure 3 (sonic 06 is a bad SA3)
What's the general opinion on Generations? Bought it on steam and not really enjoying it too much. Kind of glitchy and frustrating at times. But I did enjoy the two sonic adventure levels. So there's that I guess.
>tfw I still remember seeing the first leaked footage of Unleashed
>"the next level of Sonic"
shouldn't they have announced the 25th game by now? i mean what kinda marketing if its coming out this year. i mean
I really liked Tails in the cutscenes.
Dude was sassy.
Mods can make anything better except Lost World.
I did get Unleashed Cutscenes to somewhat be ported over into Sonic Generations.
Is there really a division in development team when it comes to console Sonic games because keep hearing that this game and colors were done by a different team as opposed to Generations and Unleashed.
If so, are we getting a game from the Generations/Unleashed team this year?
