Also yeah the place is really confusing, best advice I can give you is to just keep heading down, eventually you'll come to a wooden structure that has like 5 of those weird fire-breathing things and down the bottom to the right will be the bonfire.

As I said though, easiest way through is to just sprint past everything

If you take the master key you can literally clear Blighttown in 5 minutes(including boss fight). You only really need to kill the mosqutios as you get down the ladders, then break to the left and look for a tunnel with a bonfire inside. Then you can exit to the right run through all the crap, literally skip every enemy and be at the boss fight in less than a minute. It's probably the shortest dungeon in any Souls game.

You dont have to properly fight it. If you have 50 arrows you can plink it from the top of the stairs and when he takes off to land on the bridge to roast you just run up and hit his head once then sprint back down the stairs.

He flies away and perches on the building again and you can just rinse and repeat.

It's easy. Pass the Valley of the Drakes, use the elevator to Darkroot Basin and get the halberd in the Undead Parish.

You get some humanity now and then from killing enemies. And the guy in the pic is a sunbro so he gets humanity from defeating bosses in co-op. And as you get better at the game you'll start getting better at recovering your bloodstain, humanity included, so you won't really lose what you've accumulated.

Should you level up both STR and DEX or just one or the other?

Anyone know if a bow or crossbow run is viable in DS2? I used one for a bit in the dlc on my first playthrough and it seemed easier to use than in 1. Might go for bows after I finish my sorcerer run if it's not too shit.

Black Knight Sword will get you very far in the game.

Wield it with 2 hands as soon as you have 2/3 of the required STR. It can kill the Taurus Demon in 5 R1 hits, making it completely OP at the start of the game if you get it as a drop.

If you like strength weapons I think 12 or 16 dex is enough to use most strength weapons. I forget the exact number. For dex weapons I believe 24 strength is the highest you'll ever need but that's only for a handful of weapons, like the murakumo, dragonslayer spear and the gravelord sword.

There are better options. The great club does comparable damage, is a lot lighter and require less strength. If you're OK with fatrolling you can use the demon hammer but I'd advise to always be at at least medium roll.

Get like 20 strength and 18 dex to try out a larger assortment of weapons maybe. Endurance to wear heavier armor/use heavier weapons and put a few points in vit too. just dont get resistance.

Also keep in mind upgrading your weapons/shield is much more important than leveling up.

Vit and end are always good. Until you get to 40 in both any points invested there aren't wasted. As for dex and str, find out which type of weapon you prefer and then meet the minimum requirements for the weak stat and pump out the main stat. 40 is once again the soft cap but some str weapons require 50 or even more to one hand. It isn't necessarily a good idea to go that high but it's up to you.
Sorcery is really strong and requires both int and attunement. If you want to have it as your main combat style you'll require quite a bit of both. Faith isn't really viable as a main source of damage unless you're using one of the buff spells. I tend to leave it at 30 if I'm doing a faith build. That doesn't make it very powerful but it's enough to benefit you and allows you to use most miracles.
