Just play the pre-sequel. It's unfortunately smaller environmentally and that can get to you but they managed to make the game more fun.

All classes other than the commando are fun.
Gunzerker - gee Bill, TWO rocket launchers?
Siren - shit elemental damage, most broken class.
Sniper - fun to play, but some fights will be Hell for you.
Krieg - incredibly fun, but just like in Zero's case, some fights will be a fucking nightmare (even more so, because it's effectively a full melee class).
Mechromancer - what is accuracy? Get stacks -> get sick damage -> win.

Aside from the lol so randumb shit humor (it has some golden bits though) I found the gameplay to be genuinely fun, so I liked it.

legendary item drops are tied to a specific boss. there is a chance to find them off regular enemies, chests, vendors but the chance of that happening is like 1% or even less.

in 3 different playthroughs i have never seen a single legendary in a vending machine. i have never had any normal enemy drop a legendary. i think i have only seen one legendary item appear in a chest. all my legendaries came from griding bosses. and you don't get them 100% from bosses. OH NO. you have to kill them for about 50 times.

He doesn't mean you will have to fight them 50 times specifically, only that drop rates are small even for boss items, so you could fight a boss once and get the legendary or fight him 200 times and not drop it. Personally I never had to fight a boss more than like 10 times but some people are unlucky on this, I have no doubt

1, the writing is even worse
2, there is no replayability
To each their own, but the only reason to play Borderlands 1.5 is for the better characters, but there's no content to enjoy with them.

The writing wasn't ermagherd great, but I wouldn't call it absolute garbage. As for replay ability, however, you might have a point, but I wouldn't know. I got a bug right after the final boss that made me almost completely invincible no matter who I picked, so I really can't judge.
