>10,446 Mexican pesos
I can't wait to see that gimmick crash and burn in atrocious pain.
It's gonna be one hell of a show.

Literally why. This could've been at least one hundred dollars cheaper without these useless pieces of shit
599 dollarydoos
>shipping and handling not included
Looooooooooooool
>That thread the other day where OP made a fake press release outing the price as five hundred and ninety nine US dollars in a modified version of the PS3 reveal
Is that sage in this thread right now?

>Need a pretty powerful PC that costs over $1000 AT LEAST
>And goggles that cost $600
This price point has pretty much ensured that the Rift is going to be DOA.
It's going to be serving a niche of a niche. According to the stats, only 1% of all PC gamers even have a rig powerful enough to support a rift. And probably only a fraction of them will be willing to shell out an additional $600
The Rift has priced itself into now being a hard core hobbist item

Could the occulus work as a replacement for a proper monitor?
I live in a somewhat cramped apartment at the moment, would it be possible to more or less simulate having several monitors without wasting spacealso I want to be able to strap that thing on and just be a lazy bastard lying on the couch all day
>>322899954
definitely not. There are programs to make desktop and browsers work in VR, but they're less practical. Alsosix times more expensive
>>322899925
It was always gonna get like that until competition and cheaper mass production methods make it cheaper and more affordable to the everyman. Give it two or three years and the 1% of PC gamers (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that stat for the sake of argument) will be significantly higher, and the rift will be a hundred or more bucks cheaper.
So the vive is guaranteed to cost 700 or more.
I don't mine because I'm ready to drop 1.2k on CV VR, but hearing people complain about the price for new technology is going to be annoying for the upcoming months.

>It was always gonna get like that until competition and cheaper mass production methods make it cheaper and more affordable to the everyman
You mean when PSVR comes out and people can get a cheaper (most likely, after the PR shitstorm this is going to cause) headset for a console they likely already own?
>>322902329
PSVR arguably doesn't count, since it's bound to the PS4 its graphical capabilities will only be half a step up from the Virtual Boy.
>>322902554
We already know the graphical capabilities from the dozens of tech demos they have running on PS4s at events, they're fine, especially for a customer who doesn't want to spend a lot of money.
