Can we get a vidya nostalgia thread going?
What are your fondest memories, /v/?
In all seriousness this fucking game is going to be 7 years old this year and CoD4 will be 9 years old this year
There are people posting here now who had this as part of their childhood
Best game of all times reporting in.
Kill yourself. All hail United Offensive nostalgia.
Childhood gems thread?
I feel like I'm the only person /v/ who used to play this gem...
Get with the times, grandpa.
This was like my favorite thing to play years ago.
like everything I saw at the time was awesome, and it was just really fun to mess around in.
I only got CE anniversary so I could revisit the game, because my xbox has been broken for a few years now.
Pokémon Red/Blue through Crystal. Some of the happiest times of my life were playing the first few 'mon games. Simpsons hit and run has to be up there too.
>all these people saying you can't feel nostalgia for MW2
The game is 7 years old. That's a long time, as quickly as it has passed by. There is no set time limit as to when you can or can't feel nostalgic for something.
Best multiplayer game ever. There are basically no words needed to express the sheer epicness that was UT2004.
I was thinking on buying it on steam out of nostalgia again, are there still people playing?
I haven't played online in ages. From time to time i play with some friends. But we usually just hook up our laptops, because any toaster can run this nowadays. But online, don't know.
christ I was 14 when that came out and I'll be 24 during the 25th anniversary
Alright kids I got one for you
>It's sometime in the early 2000's
>You've got Rise Against playing in LimeWire
>YouTube is ugly as shit
>Most people who use the net are playing Counter Strike and watching stick flash animations on New Grounds or Albino Blacksheep
>But you're sitting home one night on a friday with a cheap bottle of generic soda that you walked to the store for
>Behind the game (which is starcraft broodwar) an AIM chat window is open and you're in conversation with Jster5400
>Back in the game you are Rohan, fending off the mighty armies of Saruman
>Your loyal company of heroes battles valiantly but first the deepining walls are taken
>"teal u gotta put ur ghosts back up further" you type into chat
>Then you see it: Gimli (oj) has died defending the hornburg
>Saruman's armies destroy the main gate and come pouring in
>You pull back and allow the hornburg to be overwhelmed and fall back with whoever is left into the keep
>You place siege tanks in the gave and prepare a defensive wall of ghosts
>It's 3 a.m. and from your crappy dell speakers your favorite song is coming in clear at 98kbps
>The game ends and clan [K9] says gg
>And you are back out in Battlenet
I think I was either in 8th grade or my first year of highschool when CE came out. I only played with friends and naturally sucked shit at it, so I bought other FPS to try and git gud with a controller. I had all the platforms and a pc at the time so I don't know why I didn't just pick up a copy and practice with that.
>dont hang out with buddy for years
>halo 3 drops when i finally have xbl and a wireless router
>get invited to his place for some lan matches 'like old times'
>absolutely annihilate everybody
I remember staying at my cousin's house over christmas 2001. Since we didn't have the internet (and I only played games on a PS1) I'd never heard of the Xbox before, but my cousin got it for christmas alongside Halo CE and had it set up on a tiny CRT in the back room. The huge controller and the gameplay made the console feel futuristic and alien to me. I played for maybe 45 minutes before I was kicked off it. I was thinking about it for the rest of the day, it completely sucked me in. FPS were around for years before then, I don't know why it made such an impact on me.
>tfw call of duty 4 will be 10 years old in 1 year
>tfw call of duty 3 is 10 years old
>tfw call of duty 2 is 12 years old
>Remember playing vidya with friends in their house then their mum brings in cola/sweets and acts super nice to you
Winning and losing countless quarters playing foo's at this and other VS machines.
Competing in afternoon long sessions of galactic conquest in Battlefront II with my best friends
Dumping countless hours into 6th gen releases of Medal of Honor shooting up friends.
I got this for PC the moment it came out. I never knew that there was a difference in quality for games at the time, I just thought PC got its own exclusives and the consoles had their own. Keep in mind I was 12 or so.
But fuck, modding that game took up so much of my time. I loved it, I was really bothered when I got an Xbox and Halo only to find out there was no XBL support. Thank goodness for Xlink Kai.
First game I played on a console.
Christmas of 99 I will never forget.
FF6 and children of bodom hatebreed, they mixed so well.
Anyone else? Anyone?
Game of my childhood, i remember stay up past my bedtime to play it all the time.
>Kids born after the Game Boy Advance are currently posting on /v/
Playing through Sly Cooper 2 right now with a friend. Best memories playing this as a wee lad.
>kids too young to play Halo CE on release are posting on /v/
>kids born the same time as KH's release are posting on /v/
Just bought a PS2 off Ebay, bros. Feels good.
>But you can emulate
>Grizzly-1, if you hadn't pulled that off I'd have your ass in a sling right now... but you did it. But if you EVER go against my orders again,
I can't remember the rest but that was tbhonest so awesome and it sucks that it's never going to get that good again
Loved this level. Game is Medievil for PS1. In this area you must solve riddles in a grass labyrinth. Excuse the shitty screenshot.
No, they shouldn't. That's like a fucking police state, that's fucking nazi germany like, police shouldn't give a fuck about you unless you're obviously commiting a crime or look like you're about to.
