GF just bought me pic related.
Been using a Razer Anasazi with silicon domes for ever.
Can anyone tell me whats so great about mechanical?
Seems like a nice keyboard but is there really a difference?
I have the exact same keyboard OP
bought it from a friend for $60
pretty nice. feels better to type on. if yours is the 2013 model you got blues, if later its razers shitty switches
I have a brown switch mechanical and there is barely any fucking difference at all.
I suspect that the people who say there is are just severely autistic. Mechanical keyboards are a waste of money
I think the Blackwidow Ultimate comes with MX blue?
I checked the site but the site must be inaccurate because it says the blackwidow ultimate doesnt come with 5 macro keys but the one I have is labeled ultimate and has 5 macrokeys.
I think its an older model see my above response. Feels great.
I have had nothing but good experiences from their products so far, so why change anything?
Sure I could find a better product if I tried looking and sure we might be paying a premium but if it works it works.
>looking through craigslist wondering what kind of bullshit to spend my money
>oh cool a corsair keyboard. brand new for 130. the k70 rgb with cherry mx reds
>get it down to 120
>needs two fucking usb ports. one for power and one for the keyboard itself
>pretty lights and shit cool.
>lightly rest my fingers on it
>button presses all the fucking time
>wanna try to make my own configuration
>download some, look nice, learn more how to change lights
>still cant make my own, instead just modify downloaded configurations to my liking
>pressing fucking buttons for a few hours
>send group of friends a long fucking message of random letters.
If it's a mechanical keyboard, you'll fall in love with it as you go. There's a certain tactile "tick" to it that is a press. I play with Gamer-Finger cherry switches in my arcade stick for fighting games, and to feel that same kind of confidence in knowing what I pressed will be responsive, as opposed to pressing a key (or button from a cherry switch that has a lot of travel before connecting) is frustrating when you 'think' you hit something you didn't. I suppose the same could be said with the keyboard in that.
As much as Razer gets a bad wrap, it might do some good to feel the keyboard out; at least open the doors to possibly fishing around for a higher quality keyboard later, you know?
Bonus: GF earns kudos from this anon. Sweet gift, despite the goon squad that will flame whatever you post. Forever.
Thanks man, Im going to let her know shes awesome when she wakes up.
What kind of switches were in yours? lol
You will definitely feel the difference. A keyboard sinks down with the press of the key, meanwhile the others 'click' and assure that you PRESSED that motherfucker
Voice is shrilling, but he's accurate.
Anytime! Enjoy the feeling of keyboards you can trust. hnnnnng
>GF just bought me
I was having the impression from the manosphere that grills never buy you things, either you're an alpha male or the manosphere is a blogging scam to get monies out of people by selling self help books that don't help at all.
Fell for the meme and bought a mechanical only to realize there's no drastic difference from a good membrane keyboard.
People should just test a keyboard to see if they're comfortable with it and go with that.
Would a person with a small penis have a battlestation as dank as this?
Pic related, the new keyboard is on my chair.
MX Cherry Red here
My hands don't get as tired anymore. I will never go back to non-mechanical. Yes it's more expensive but it doesn't get old like a graphics card does. It's one of those things you really should invest in.
BLOG TIME because some anons triggered muh ex-gf alarm
>had a great gf for a bit over 3 years
>i kept asking various boards on 4chan for advice, maybe once every 4 months or so
>they mostly told me to break up and kill myself, but some of the advice was sound
>relationship goes downhill due to economical problems and severe, clinical depression hitting us both near the same time, couldn't get less lucky
>after half a year of that /adv/ tells me again to kill myself and break up, in either order i want
>in my crushed state of mind i actually try to kill myself but couldn't go through with it, so i break up in fear of hurting her or making it worse in any way
>even though i tell her over and over that i want to isolate myself from her, she tells me that she desperately needs to at least be friends, so i go along with it
cont whether you want it or not
How much do you have to play/type that your hands would get tired? What does it even mean?
the webms are more entertaining than my text by the way
>it's now been just over a year since we broke up and i moved back to my parents' place
>only since barely a month now i've finally turned my life around a bit, got a part time job, got medication for depression that seems to actually work, seeing a psychologist every week etc
>still not over the ex, still think of her pretty much every night before trying to fall asleep, still think of her when getting groceries, when playing games she liked too, etc
>we chat occasionally, she wants me to come visit again, i've tried several times to tell her that i'd want to try to get together again
>she's not totally against it, even invited me to come live with her again if i want to, but not as a couple for the foreseeable future, just as roommates
>/adv/ keeps telling me to kill myself and that breaking up was the best thing I did
Basically 4chan is a shitty place to talk about relationships.
Nah 1000 char limit.
At 22 I bet it gets infinitely tougher because all the women at bars are seasoned at getting action and they probably can spot an inexperienced guy a mile away.
Your best shot is to go to a college town, like a big one like Ames (Iowa) during a big football game or something. Walk around the streets until you see a house party. Produce a case of beer and youre in. Youre young enough to pull it off and if anyone asks say youre an engineering student (to explain the awkwardness) at some university on the east coast. Memorize some facts about the uni you are using ahead of time.
Works every time.
lmao you bought a keyboard with Reds without doing your research about switch types. GJ.
Browns here, QPad MK80, considering the Ducky Mini with Clears/Browns as my next keyboard.
The advantage of mechanical keys is improved durability and improved haptic feedback, with a range of switches providing benefits for different purposes. Reds are good for gaming because theyre so light, Browns are good for gaming and typing, Blues are good for typing. Along these there are like 5 more MX types and a bunch of other switch types.
A Razer probably has Razers own switch types (Green or Orange), which are close to Reds. Be prepared to type badly, but play well.
This is true.
Any /adv/ community on the internet is generally a bad place to go to for help in a relationship.
I mean think of who would commit time to a forum that focuses on relationship advice, especially ones where contributors dont get anything out of it.
-People who have had a series of shitty relationships themselves (and will offer shit advice)
-Hopeless romantics who dont understand the real world
I don't know why people say reds are bad for typing. They're still better than domes. I can type 120 wpm no mistakes and 150 wpm with corrections on my reds. It really isn't a big deal. They're also better for gaming than blues.
Ive used a razer naga for years now and its a good mouse, although it has too many buttons. I mean the thing has fucking 17 buttons (to my knowledge) and I use 5.
Sick mouse though and reliable.
...well of course Reds are better than domes, they're just not the best switches for typing because they're so light.
Of course they're better for gaming than Blues, Blues arent a gaming switch, they're a typing switch.
It just seems like the way people try to portray reds as being absolute shit switches for anything but gaming even though you can still type at insanely fast speeds with no mistakes on reds for little practice.
Looks a bit too much for me...is this one fine? I'm just fine with few buttons to the side.
They're just not optimal.
When I was in the market for a new keyboard, I was still a student, so I wanted something with good switches for video games AND typing. I knew Reds would be a bad pick because I'd spend half the time writing correcting, and frankly, I just wanted to get my work done.
Likewise, Im looking into learning programming, so Id still go for Browns or a similar switch.
Depends what games you play.
If you play FPS games like Battlefield or CSGO then this will be inadequate.
You need at least 3 buttons on the side to switch between sidearms, knifes, grenades etc. Unless youre okay with playing on a game pad.
I also think you could do better for that price point, although I wouldnt be the best source for that kind of info.
ochochans tech board is a good place for this sort of thing.
This is just wrong, you dont need three thumb buttons to play CSGO to change weapons.
Thats a fantastic mouse that I would absolutely recommend.
Okay, guy, thats fine, all I'm saying is, as far as switches are concerned, Reds werent designed with typing in mind. Thats not to say somebody couldnt be good with them.
You're insane or trolling. 1-2-3 is fine for weapons in CSGO.
A good sensor is of optimal importance for good FPS playing and the Razer linked has a good sensor. Thats the bottom line, pal.
dude do you even awp?
Needing to switch between knife (to run) and handgun (for close quarters) and awp (for long and shit) is crucial. And then being able to throw grenades quickly is also important.
It may be seconds to some players but to me thats lost time.
Do some research on mechanical keyboards and their switches, decide which one you want to use, find a keyboard you like with as few bells & whistles as possible and is within your price range, and buy it.
Some good starts are, of course, Razer, CM Quickfire, Rosewill, Corsair K range, Ducky, Logitech (be careful), Filco and Das.
I actually am the designated AWPer for my team and I'm fucking good at it, too, and I don't use 3 thumb buttons to change weapons. I've never had an issue using 1-2-3 to change between equipment and I think you're selling yourself some snake oil, pal.
If you're sold on thumb buttons then at least bind them to useful equipment, like your grenades. Your own experience is your own experience, I just think that using the thumbs to change weapon is a bit unnecessary. My game massively improved after just configuring the sensor properly.
If thats USD then I think you're gonna struggle. Mechanical keyboards are expensive, pal!
After typing on a shitty Compaq keyboard for over a decade, typing on a keyboard with blue switches is such a huge fucking difference I can't even describe it.
The Deathstalker is but thats a membrane keyboard.
I think you're restricted to finding something on clearance or sale for a $60 mechanical, unfortunately. I dont know much about the US market, mind you.
Look man if you're gonna buy a membrane keyboard get the cheapest keyboard you can find. Dont spend $60 on a Razer that isnt mechanical, when you can buy a fucking Microsoft office keyboard for like $5 for the exact same result. Sans flashy green lights. Whoop-de-doo.
If you just need a keyboard, right now, go buy the cheapest one you can find. Razer charging $60 for a non-mech is highway robbery.
Lucky you, all 5 razer products I've bought, 360 controller x2, mouse, keyboard, headset have all broke because of low quality parts. Will never buy razer again, Corsair makes the best preferals
They make good mice and keyboards and components.
But man, FUCK their headsets. I know headsets are already bad, but jesus christ. I had my Vengeance 1500 RMA'd 4 times in the 2 years it was covered. When it wasnt under RMA, I was actually relieved. Immediately dropped £120 on a new audio setup (phones/mic/sound card).
Because motherboard manufacturers frequently just dont bother with soundchips and the like. It's not uncommon, even high end motherboards they're just like "any audiophiles will bring their own EQ so meh"
Asus Xonar DSX was only £40 and I got my phones £50 off so it all ended well. Great sound quality, especially since I download in FLAC.
So maybe you would be the right guy to ask.
My hearing is going to shit. (Im old as fuck)
Ive gone through some headsets but they are all sounding quiet nowadays.
I currently have Kingston HyperX Cloud somethings and they have good quality but they are quiet.
How can I improve volume?
Do I need some sort of amplifier? Should I get new headphones?
Quality is important but Id really like some volume.
>buy this for $10
>it works perfectly and smoothly
Whats the point in buying a $100 one.
If you have headphones which connect via a 3.5mm jack and you wanna boost the volume, check your OS settings to make sure they're always outputting at 100% (right-click Speakers in tray > playback devices > select yours > properties, check settings)
Failing that, you could definitely benefit from a discreet soundcard since they usually feature amplification. The Xonar DGX would be a good pick up, pretty cheap, uses the same software as my DSX but only goes to 5.1 (enough for most), and features really good amplification. Honestly Im not a fan of heradsets myself, so I'd also recommend picking up some nice, comfy headphones like AudioTechnica, Beyerdynamic, or Sennheisers and a microphone (if you need one; Zalman Mic-1 is a favourite)
I'd also consult your doctor and just make sure there's nothing abnormal about your hearing. Yknow, make sure your ears arent blocked with wax or theres no issue with your eardrums or something.
Hope you resolve your issue!
Get this, not the one with the shitty audio module. It will make your audio so much better in every way and it's on sale. Also I think the hyper x clouds come with the USB sound card and if they do don't use it, I've always thought the meme 7.1 fake surround sound made the audio worse
Hey guys, I got a question since this would be a good time.
I clocked in over 1.7k hours into CS:GO and for the first 1.2k I used a basic keyboard and membrane keyboard. Got a Zowie FK1 mouse and I love the hell out of it
Been searching for a new KB since this once is starting to die on me and I can bear to see it pass away. MX Brown for keys seem cool, any good KBś out there around $120ish with such?
Budget, whatcha gonna use it for?
Use PCPartPicker to select a budget. >>322887390 is a list of good manufacturers.
how do you stop this from happening?
>tfw g500 had matte finish
>after 2 years of use the LMB portion now has a glossy finish because of wear and tear from repeated clicks peeled away the outer coating
I dont think you can pal, its just a thing that you have to live with.
Hasn't anybody discovered how to preserve the matte texture yet? kinda like how adding chromium to steel makes it into stainless steel.
It has nice response time, also when it comes to typing, you fuck up less. But that´s just from my experience.
Membrane is fine, and I see why people are against/dislike the idea of spending a buttload for a keyboard with colors and clicky clicky.
I mean the alternative is probably just making mice out of something more durable but then theyd be very heavy.
You pay £50 for a mouse that last a few years I think you'll be okay.
>that key spacing
So the difference is in the feel of pressing the buttons? Because I really prefer a regular keyboard where you have to only lightly caress a button to receive input, any reason to switch to mechanical?
Improved durability and better purpose-specific variety of switches. Very light switches for gaming, or tactile ones for typing. Your choice.
