I must be eight kinds of retarded to fuck this up. I get to the downgrade screen where it says to either press A, Y, or B and no matter what I press nothing happens. I have tried through multiple hax entry points. Does it just not work 99% of the time?

Nope. I thought about it to get FE Fates, but I decided against it. I lost all my save files (including a living dex, a perfect ACNL town, and a completed Rune Factory 4 ;_;) when my old SD card bit the dust last year and that hurt, but I still had a chance to start over since the actual DS was fine. I'd rather pay for cheesily localized games than risk losing everything again more permanently.
