They aren't. The only people who review them are already fans.

It should be obvious instantly that that "game" is not good in any way.

ask yourself this : who are the only people that buy them, or would want something like that associated with their accounts?

You don't. they almost always have a near 100% rating.

People who buy them already know what they're getting.

Reminder they're SJW scums who censor games they publish if there's "problematic content" inside.
>>
>>322867138

If you want a reason to hate Sekai Project aside from that, there's also the fact that they've got 10 outstanding kickstarters and are in the middle of running another right now.

It's amazing just how thoroughly this stuff has taken over Steam. I remember a few short years ago, we were joking about weebshit being on Steam, with misty-eyed sighs of a brighter future. Well, it arrived, and it sucks. It's all deviantart-tier bullshit and massively overpriced. Thanks gabe. Still no anime tab, either.

I read that. That's just standard PR apologetic frill. Of course they're going to avoid problematic content, they're selling on Steam not DMM or Getchu.

The less risks of lawsuits, the better. Sometimes it's not about a fucking agenda. I know this because I have to deal with COPPA on a daily basis.

The problem with most japanese anime-style games is that only fans really give them a try.

Grisaia on Steam is a shitport without ero and no way to patch it back in.
Neptunia games have ratings around 96-98% as well just cause only Nepfanboys buy them.

>>
>>322868931

I can't wait for Nepnep to question what keeps the islands of Gameindustri floating and they go on an epic quest to meet the fat man who is the CPU of the Steamwerkz.
>>
>>322866821
The ratings are not to be taken seriously. Weebs rating porn high is the same thing as shit eaters liking scat porn.
The problem is that you have to buy that garbage to review it, and nobody except desperate virgins do buy it, so they are the only ones to rate it. Same goes for any fanservice game ever like neptunia
>>
>>322869281
>Kindred Spirits on the Roof

That's mangagamer. They're "one of the good ones", as far as japanese porn game companies go, in that the only offensive thing they do if jew you to pay more for the uncensored version.

This is what always happens with niches titles. Only those who know they'll like it will buy it. they will of course rate it high too. Now anyone who doesn't like it won't even try it so you won't see bad reviews.
>>
I still got the fan-translated version on my computer. Play that or the Sekai Project one?

The entirely anime porn game translation business is an incestuous orgy of a handful of contractors used by everyone.

Literally none of the people actually translating Sekai Project's games are salaried. The guy who translated grisaia for example, went on to a mangagamer contract right after.

It's a pretty fair point, there's a huge slice of games wherein the only people likely to look at them or buy them let alone review them are going to be people with a vested interest or a fan already. Weeb games are a significant part of that slice.

Honestly, the ero is usually the shittiest part of these games.

The real issue is paying for an 'official' translation that's either worse than what you can get for free that isn't censored, or is just a complete copy of the fan translation.

Like, didn't they sell Clannad recently and it was basically the same as the original translation?

>>
>>322884264
You don't have to add anime games there. Literally 90% of steam reviews are people trying to make unfunny jokes to get some dank upboats.
>>
>>322884070
You're clueless if you think the reason why things are untranslated is because they're bad. No company makes a VN, sees it sell in Japan and then thinks
>well it's trash, let's not translate it
Instead the idea of translating it doesn't even come to them, since they're 100% focused on the Japanese market.

And if you're talking about the English side, maybe you should check Mangagamer, they're translating tons of random third-grade nukiges, because they sell to EOPs. And fantranslations are practically non-existent nowadays, if we don't count attempts at machine translating from Fuwanovel, which go nowhere.

And hell, I doubt quality was Koestl's major concern when selecting what to translate, otherwise he could have chosen made VNs much better than Grisaia.

Which brings me to the fact that "top 20%" isn't "top of the line".

Also your choice of words
>You can be an elitist gook shitter all you want
suggests you're an EOP, so just shut up. All your ideas about majority of VNs are probably crap you read here on /v/ or some Reddit.

And no, I'm not denying there are many trashy VNs coming out all the time, but hey, reply like I'm doing it anyway.

It might be true that VNs aren't "real" games, but that complaint went out of the window when Steam started selling software and shit.
It's not like not being video games makes them bad by default, that's like saying a book is awful because you can't play it.

No, actually writing is the most important thing.

I'll name some untranslated VNs notable for their quality. I'll just their Japanese names, so you can just look up videos yourself on Youtube easily. Or their soundtracks, if you feel music is so important. You can also use the Japanese names to search on VNDB, that works too.

I started 5 years ago and now I'm reading it with no problems. I just don't believe you would be able to read it with no problems in 1 year.

By "with no problems" I mean not having to look up pretty much anything, which I don't have to. Perhaps an odd word here and there, or some dialectical grammar. For mythological concepts coming up in the story, Monobeno actually explains them to the reader, since MC's sister, Natsuha, doesn't remember much about her childhood and traditional practices from Monobeno, so that's used to explain things to the reader.

Also I'm not implying 5 years are needed, that's just when I started reading it. But 1 year just don't feel like enough.
