What would you want out of a new WW2 game? Would you want it to be an FPS? Would a Saving Private Ryan esque Normandy scene be possible with modern technology?
I think a ARPG from the German perspective would be cool. You would start out as a normal German soldier in 1939 and as the game progressed you could branch into the Wehrmacht and become a stand up soldier, or become a party member and join an SS unit. Each choice would have consequences and different effects on you character, including which theater you deployed to and the way your soldier fights.
Of course it would never get made.
fps/rpg set during the fall of Berlin. you are an unenlisted German man and need to survive until the end of the war trapped beetween the red army and the german army (who may kill you for not fighting)
You play as an American/Japanese solider left on a pacific island after a retreat. The island is controller by the other side, and you need to scrounge for food and shelter and water, but if you create too much smoke or too obvious of a shelter, they notice you. You have to kill the other side's soldiers during the night for ammo and stuff
He wasn't any worse than he needed to be, Germans were getting fucked in the ass by the Versalies treaty and Hitler got the out of the shitter.
Such is war, there are no good or bad sides, only winners and losers.
can we have one set in the winter war so we can kill the real badguys?
>the Hitler was a hero meme
Things are never black and white in the real world, but Hitler was a selfish demagogue who used the German people for his own arbitrary and needless ideals which ultimately ran the country into the ground and fractured it for 50 years.
Would have to be very popular for that to be able to succeed.
RO2/RS has about 1000-2000 players daily, with such numbers there'd be only 2 or 3 servers to be filled.
I'm afraid this type of game is too niche to really take off.
Would be neat though. On the other hand, remember MAG and how spectacularly that failed?
Yugoslavian partisans. Some stealth, some survival, brutal difficulty because the enemy is prepared and armed with actual weapons of war and not shitty hunting rifles in the beggining. Battle for Neretva, Sutjeska etc. for big setpiece missions
