There is literally nothing good about SEED. The characters are all awful, the plot is like an awful version of 0079's, and the animation is that awkward early 2000s thing where everything looks like shit (not to mention the Hiraiface, Jesus). And somehow, the HD remasters just make every single thing about the series worse.

It really isn't. People are more open about their shitposting, /tv/ and /pol/ memes are at an all-time high, and people are posting like it's reddit, NeoGAF, or tumblr more than ever. It's the excitement of gg that threw me off, but it's gonna be a few years before /v/ gets tolerable again.

Also, /v/ has notoriously shit taste in everything, and people tend to be a lot newer relatively.
