Should I start on normal or hard?

I have never played a Falcom rpg but I do play a bunch of other jrpgs.

That's what I was kind of feeling. I started on Normal and only got past the the beginning level where I assume is a flash to the future. I stopped right when teachermcfuck dropped us in a hole and gave us our weapons back. I didn't want to get to far and feel like I should have been hard instead.

I'm not really sure what the point of DLC outfits is, since the paid outfits are less revealing than the in-game outfits.
