So I'm a bit confused so far. If you select the girl character she will be able to beat up grown raiders with her bare hands and fire a minigun at the hip etc.. How does she do this? Does she have implants or a mutation or something?
If you are playing as male / female your character was soldier in war and took part in Operation Anchorage, that's why you are known with weapons and power armor training. Your wife / husband was a lawyer depending on who you select.
This is incorrect, the female character is always a lawyer and the male is a veteran no matter which one is the protag.
I assume that Nora is able to draw on the same sort of power that allows a 19 year old boy/girl from a cushy vault to immediately adapt to life outside, punch raiders to death, and disarm a nuke in Fallout 3, or the type that allows a courier who just woke up from a coma to start plotting to take over the entire Mojave Wasteland.
The male play through is the only canon one. All of the cutscenes are only the male. All of those assumptions like military, security clearance for the ship and having power armor training are because they assume male is canon. The prevelance of gunners, the numerous holotapes of pre war soldiers (including right where you get powah armor for the first time) reinforce your characters perspective.
You forgot to mention that half the characters refer to the PC as "he" in dialogue even if you're playing as Nora.
It's disappointing desu, the idea of a completely normal lawyer-turned-housewife ripping the Commonwealth a new asshole to get her baby back is more appealing to me than a trained soldier doing the same thing.
it doesnt work in the fallout framework desu. players can adapt to everything in seconds, especially in arpgs. being a clueless newcomer to the waste doesnt work after fallout 1. bethshit should stick to their prisoner origin from now on.
No. I can't accept it, I won't accept it! This game still has roleplay potential, I-I can find it!
If it means that I have to justify wandering over to Abernathy Farm before going anywhere else because that's the only place in the game where your character can find out that bottle caps are the currency of the wasteland, then dammit, that's what I'll do!
If it means that if I want to do any settlement building I'll do nothing but sleep, wake up at meal times, eat, and sleep again to simulate the actual time it would take to get construction projects done, than that's what I'll do!
