I usually pick Scoundrel with high INT for 5 levels just for the skill points.

The game itself is very easy and even picking the "weakest" options turns you into a combat monster. You'd have to try pretty hard to gimp yourself.

If I enjoyed New Vegas, will I enjoy KOTOR 1 and 2? How does the gameplay differ between them? Am I forced to have companions or can I go at it solo?

I'm trying to play through this game again since it's been way too long and I never actually finished [just got off Dantooine, screw everything about that damn planet], but the damn thing is making it really hard on me by arbitrarily deciding when it wants to launch, when it doesn't, when it wants to play cutscenes, and when it wants to give me a black screen instead.

The age really is showing now.

Scoundrel until lvl 7, I think, for the extra sneak attack bonus damage. Then sentinel for the free cc immunity and extra force power. Stun everything and do loads of damage. I usually play a single saber but staff sabers are more powerful.

Is a grey jedi run viable?

Having attempted a Scoundrel > Guardian build, I can say, even with the lowered force power, I still wrecked face, though the CC immunity would definitely have helped in the long run. Soloing bosses though [Final boss] Was a pain in the ass and I was forced to lower the difficulty to survive.

Still, its a blast to walk into a room with a bunch of enemies, stun everyone with a single ability and just sneak attack EVERYTHING to death.

Combine with TWF Wookie and the old man.

If you find that you fucked up immenselly at any part there's always medpaks and those injections, and also mines and grenades. I just hoard them througout the game and end up using them in few sections. And you companions are pretty powerful, they can bail you out of several situations.

When i play KOTOR i usually bring Canderous and Carth just to see them argue about the war. And because he is voiced by Solidus Snake. But the most important thing is that he is truly Solidus Snake reincarnated. Forget about the heavy weapons, just give him 2 vibroswords and a mind affecting immunity implant and watch him take on entire groups of enemies by himself. He is literally the most powerful character of the game, he could take on Malak, Revan and his party without breaking a sweat.

I recommend you play Kotor 2 and instead of doing a light or dark play through you do a Kreia play through.

Yes, it is possible to make her happy. I went through the entire game with her being impressed with me. The only thing that fucked it up was that killing any one of the Jedi causes the council on Dantooine to attack you forcing you to kill them all. This pisses Kreia off.

Has anyone gotten KOTOR to run on Windows 10?

there are pretty much three light side builds you can do

first one is full blown jedi buff bitch, like playing a priest in wow, it's fucking boring and you'll end up controlling companions most of the game

second is jedi gunman, built around using stasis field to stun huge groups of enemies then dual wield blaster pistols to shred everything

third is full blown roidrage guardian, leaping 30 yards across the map to fuck shit up with a double bladed lightsaber
here's a few tips, the game is easy so they don't need to be followed but they're handy info: if you're making a jedi that does damage with a lightsaber, like a guardian, a dual sided saber is better than dualwielding 1h sabers, because with a dual sided both sides get the bonus from the crystals so you only need 2

if you're making a force user, it's better to dual wield 1h sabers bc then you can put in more stat crystals to increase force power stats

another tip: the absolute highest damage output you can get in this game is a full crit build with a single 1h lightsaber and all the dueling feats, you can crit for over 100 with most hits

It's funny because Jedi Academy has a voiced protagonist and each race had several choices of attire. It's not like Revan/Exile being human is even mentioned anywhere in the game. I guess it would interfere with the romance options, considering how "people weren't ready" for Mass Effect having romancable lesbian aliens.

It's an Obsidian game so what you should have been expecting is a lackluster ending.

People will tell you some bullshit story about how they were forced to release a decade early and it was deliberately sabotaged by a jealous Bioware and all kinds of crap but the reality is they only released 1 month early and that is only for the xbox version of the game. PC release was still the original release date from when they started development and they were told they were allowed to add more content to that version but Obsidian decided not to because they didn't think it was fair to the people on the xbox, which is fair enough. Regardless, one month left is far too late in the development cycle to still be working on content, especially critical content like the fucking ending.
