Making a new character. Recommendations on class? I intend to do a Light Side playthrough.
>there will never be a good star wars RPG (or game) ever again
soldier into guardian
don't level until you become a guardian
I usually pick Scoundrel with high INT for 5 levels just for the skill points.
The game itself is very easy and even picking the "weakest" options turns you into a combat monster. You'd have to try pretty hard to gimp yourself.
I'm trying to play through this game again since it's been way too long and I never actually finished [just got off Dantooine, screw everything about that damn planet], but the damn thing is making it really hard on me by arbitrarily deciding when it wants to launch, when it doesn't, when it wants to play cutscenes, and when it wants to give me a black screen instead.
The age really is showing now.
Scoundrel until lvl 7, I think, for the extra sneak attack bonus damage. Then sentinel for the free cc immunity and extra force power. Stun everything and do loads of damage. I usually play a single saber but staff sabers are more powerful.
In K1, not really. The game is really meant to be played at alignment extremes, but there's really only 2 different endings.
In K2, you definitely can, although it will piss everyone off and no one will like you except for the astromech droid.
Having attempted a Scoundrel > Guardian build, I can say, even with the lowered force power, I still wrecked face, though the CC immunity would definitely have helped in the long run. Soloing bosses though [Final boss] Was a pain in the ass and I was forced to lower the difficulty to survive.
Still, its a blast to walk into a room with a bunch of enemies, stun everyone with a single ability and just sneak attack EVERYTHING to death.
Combine with TWF Wookie and the old man.
Yea, but it was really silly when I did it. Sometimes I would gain light side points by accident then I would have to be a dick to everyone else on the planet until it balanced out. I felt like I was playing those weird "I have two personalitiea, nicest guy you'll ever meet and twisted fucking psychopath" edgelords.
>playing light side
>korriban questline with carth and mission
>convince the sith ghost turn to the light side
>convice students to either leave or join the jedi/republic
>convince the twilek teacher become a jedi in dantooine
One of the force forms allowed me to cast several sith powers even though I went full space jesus, and they barely even scratched my force bar. I think that if someone was true neutral they could use both light and dark side powers just like that.
>I want to maximize lore, saving people, and being as good as possible.
2 or 1?
If 1 go to Korriban (sith planet) and get some convo with the TwiLek later on if you turn her light side.
Soldier/Guardian is the only choice that matters.
since going neutral seems to kinda fuck you over, i think i'll go dark side, because why would you pick light side when they can't even zap mothafuckas
unless light side has cool force powers as well
>be me in 2003
>haven't discovered 4chin yet
>play this game on a PC in our dining room
>tease Bastilla in every conversation
>HEY SON THAT'S NOT HOW YOU FLIRT WITH GIRLS, USE THE FORCE HEHEHEH J/K
It's fine. You don't level because the force using classes have better stat gains. The only class you should level is scoundrel if you're doing a sneak attack build. If you already tossed in some levels it's okay. Game isn't that hard.
the more levels you get for your first class the less levels you get for your jedi class. level cap is 20
I think on my first playthrough i got to level 7 or 8 before I became a jedi and beat the game just fine. you probably want to stop leveling up before then though
Calmmyer titties minmaxers are just trying to convince you to minmax your way through the game. It's not a difficult game tho and any build will see you through the end. Some people even ignore lightsabers altogether and just blast their way to the end.
If you find that you fucked up immenselly at any part there's always medpaks and those injections, and also mines and grenades. I just hoard them througout the game and end up using them in few sections. And you companions are pretty powerful, they can bail you out of several situations.
If you've already played before it can be fun to play a character that only uses blasters. Or a blaster jedi. I keep wanting to reinstall but I have so many games and so little time.
>no option to tell bastila "hey bitch im going out to look for these gay ass maps, why don't you be useful and use your oh so powerful battle meditation on me since you're doing jackshit inside this spaceship anyway"
>Can't remember if that big Star Wars pack came with KOTOR 2
>Only KOTOR 1
>Realise KOTOR 2 is way up above it because it's "STAR WARS™"
I really wish they would fucking stop doing this. Steam needs a way to manually rename games, or a way to force ™ symbols to be removed.
nevermind, google worked out for once
>malak's comical HA HA HA
gotta love bioware. they've only got worse since then too
In case you wanted the other one too, here.
replaying kotor 2 third time in a row, what build?
In KOTOR 2, yes, but your main character would still be better off with a lightsaber.
In KOTOR 1, fuck no. A blaster run is pretty much one of the only guaranteed ways to gimp yourself in KOTOR 1. Never use blasters on your main, just stick with vibroswords, then upgrade to lightsabers.
Okay I'm try to finish kotor2 now, it's all nice n shit but i have to say the game feels extremely empty, the areas are extremely big and don't have a lot in them, i wish they made them little bit smaller. Also is there a more OP force power then burst of speed? Shit gives you defence + extra attack.
Not true, I've played both games using blasters on my main character and they were no more difficult than a run using a lightsaber. I used a heavy repeating blaster in KOTOR 1 and dual pistols in 2.
Why do people play KOTOR 2 when the Let's Play is infinitely better? You don't even play KOTOR 2 for the gameplay, but for the writing.
Alright I am just biased. It's probably the only Let's Play I actually enjoyed. Guy pulled out all the incomplete content, VA interviews, and other stuff to really pull you into the narrative. Made me appreciate the game that much more.
>the guy links to Team Gizka's efforts
>lel I almost forgot about them
>follow the link
>first thing is a blog post about private jets
When i play KOTOR i usually bring Canderous and Carth just to see them argue about the war. And because he is voiced by Solidus Snake. But the most important thing is that he is truly Solidus Snake reincarnated. Forget about the heavy weapons, just give him 2 vibroswords and a mind affecting immunity implant and watch him take on entire groups of enemies by himself. He is literally the most powerful character of the game, he could take on Malak, Revan and his party without breaking a sweat.
I recommend you play Kotor 2 and instead of doing a light or dark play through you do a Kreia play through.
Yes, it is possible to make her happy. I went through the entire game with her being impressed with me. The only thing that fucked it up was that killing any one of the Jedi causes the council on Dantooine to attack you forcing you to kill them all. This pisses Kreia off.
I didn't really understand it either but the only thing that really makes sense is that she wanted to rub you in the face of the other Jedi masters.
I mean does she need them to kill the force? Does she think YOU need them to fight what's his face? Even if that's true it doesn't make much sense that she would say you failed her totally and completely.
No, it's because she wants to teach them a lesson, that there is far more than being Jedi or Sith, and that you are proof of it. Unless you kill one of them, which crushes her hopes.
She's a Sith, no doubt about that, and like a lot of them end up doing, she hated herself for falling into the trappings of being a Sith, even though she knew there was no other recourse for her left. The Exile was her one last hope.
Stupid fucking game.
Uninstalled, refund requested.
Don't know why the fuck you neckbeards enjoy shitty textured corridors, shit HUDs and and a shitty clunky combat systems. Fucking mary sue gameplay shit
I actually don't know in the restored content mod. You can Google it if you don't want to play through for no raisin. I had to quit because I killed one of the Jedi and it made Kreia upset which triggered my autism.
more like shit lord rite ?
Seriously, sith lord/jedi master is the shittiest upgrade you can pick. You might as well stick with consular or go with one of the two other option for upgrading your class.
>Influence lost: Kreia

I'm still impressed how they made pretty much a whole new SW setting and did it so right. They pretty much had to come up with everything anew because 4k years ago. It wasn't just copied from the original and has it's own feel, but it's still star wars. Damn KOTOR is good.
Actually yeah, that is fucking amazing. It's got more new star wars than tfa and still feels star warsy. The Sith armor is great and korriban is such a great setting. Plus, the star forge is a better idea than starkiller.
Shit, I might have to reinstall.
Its not really good.
And there are the other ones missing.
>In K1, not really. The game is really meant to be played at alignment extremes, but there's really only 2 different endings.
Pretty sure if you go Grey Jedi Malak and others talk shit about you being too indecisive and being a shadow of your old self unable to make the choice. Interesting desu but no Grey ending
>search kotor on sankaku
>get pic related
Just made my year
Did the actual Sith race appear in any non-SWtor related material at all before? Are there any of them still alive by the time Phantom Menace happened? Considering they're natively very strong with the force, wouldn't there be way more Sith than just Sheev?
These dudes. Pic related Naga Sadow. I've never read the books, so I don't have any idea if they retroactively make him a "Sith" from "mysterious ancient race" or if there was an actual appearance of the Sith race native to Korriban before SWTOR in SW media.
The red bad dudes from the game with 300 millions worth of voice acting.
To be perfectly honest with you senpai I just learned about this sith race a couple of weeks ago, so it's not that far-fetched to think not everyone knows about this
Especialy since it's not in Kotor 1/2
Nothing wrong with the Sith race, Marka Ragnos who's the final boss of Jedi Academy is Sith, the problem is what TOR did to them and how fucked the lore became then.
Hey guys, wanna be friends? I'm the nicest guy you'll ever meet ;)
Turns out Revan went back to being a fuckboy, pretty much making all the character development in Kotor worthless
He gets his ass whooped by a random Sith dude (your character)
There's more apparently and it gets a lot worse, but I dropped the game at that exact moment.
>can't lesbodominate Brianna in Kotor 2 because somebody thought adding this fucking faggot was a good idea
Enjoy getting literally no skills and couple unnecessary feats.
What is even the point of Guardian in this? There's no BAB like in D&D to make warrior class actually worth considering.
I don't mind the Idea of an ancient force sensitive Sith race that gave a name to inherently dark force users, their backstory is relatively well explained, but the game implements it poorly
definately better than
>evryone is humns
>Finish kotor 2 on Steam
>Want to replay kotor 1 again
>Download gog version
>Runs like shit
>Download for smartphone
>Moving around in the game is hassle
I just got up to the part in KOTOR 2 where
you have that amazing conversation with Atris about why you took part in the Mandalorian War on Telos and saw Kriea suffer indignitiesand I can see why people say it's the better game.
It gets you into the story much quicker than KOTOR and you actually feel like you're actually molding who your character is.
yes, that's an actual name, brother to Maul, better than pick related I guess, thanks Lucas
That's all I can think of, but I'm sure there is alot more.
Yeah I watched TCW too, what's so bad about savage opress ? All the name in SW sounds sillty to me
Also I just remembered Darth Plagueis was a Mune, and Snoke in Ep VII if he's not plagueis doesn't look human
>get Kotor 1 on steam
>use a bigger resolution
>all the menus and buttons are now tiny
there are pretty much three light side builds you can do
first one is full blown jedi buff bitch, like playing a priest in wow, it's fucking boring and you'll end up controlling companions most of the game
second is jedi gunman, built around using stasis field to stun huge groups of enemies then dual wield blaster pistols to shred everything
third is full blown roidrage guardian, leaping 30 yards across the map to fuck shit up with a double bladed lightsaber
here's a few tips, the game is easy so they don't need to be followed but they're handy info: if you're making a jedi that does damage with a lightsaber, like a guardian, a dual sided saber is better than dualwielding 1h sabers, because with a dual sided both sides get the bonus from the crystals so you only need 2
if you're making a force user, it's better to dual wield 1h sabers bc then you can put in more stat crystals to increase force power stats
another tip: the absolute highest damage output you can get in this game is a full crit build with a single 1h lightsaber and all the dueling feats, you can crit for over 100 with most hits
I was hoping a Kotor 3 would have introduced alien options for player characters
Instead we got TOR.
The definition of Sith has changed greatly over the times, At first they were a Force Sensitive Race found by dark jedi, through them Dark Side Force users became synonymous with the name Sith, after the Race was destroyed on Korriban, the remnants kept using the name of Sith.
Somewhere along the road came the rule of two, and by that point Sith had no relation to the original race anymore what so ever
think of it as someone using the word spartan, a people famous for their martial abilities, while spartans don't really exist anymore, people still use the name to describe people that follow their ecample
Of the more ancient Sith Lords, there's the ancestor of the Sith Inquisitor, Lord Kallig. This of course may only apply if your character isn't Human or Sith - I wouldn't know whether or not he was treated differently in dialogue pending that because my own Inquisitor was a Zabrak lass.
I beat it yesterday on Win10.
No problems except the game minimizes sometimes we playing a movie. If you try and get the widescreen fix to work, the game will crash randomly though, I eventually gave up and settled with 800x600
As always, blame EA.
Wouldn't be surprised if they came up with the initiative to just clone WoW in the Star Wars universe expecting the fans to eat the shitfest up.
I'm glad it never met their expectations, but it's a hollow victory.
After I installed it I couldn't seem to get the game to ever start. It would just show me the launcher and then the game doesn't appear. Did you run it with any special settings?
Pirated I'm afraid. Seems like it would be the retail version. I used to have the Xbox version, but recently wanted to play it again. And I'm 5000 miles from my console at the moment so I had only this option. Are you running with the Steam version?
>Bioware and Obsidian couldn't do what Raven did before them
It's funny because Jedi Academy has a voiced protagonist and each race had several choices of attire. It's not like Revan/Exile being human is even mentioned anywhere in the game. I guess it would interfere with the romance options, considering how "people weren't ready" for Mass Effect having romancable lesbian aliens.
>Getting ready to play KOTOR 2 again
>Loading it up with mods
>Get about a third of the way through my not very long list of mods
>You have exceeded the maximum amount of downloads allotted to you by the administrator for the day.
It's funny because the other girls use literally the same model mash for face, but the texturing made it look she has way more pronounced cheek and jawbones. Doesn't matter though, everyone who wanted to play a female in a SW games picked the Twi'lek or Zebrak.
Who suffered more, Revan or Exile?
I'd say Exile. She just wanted to kill some Mandolarian fucking shits but then Revan tried to mindbreak her into becoming an Edgelord
>being in the middle of an apocolypse while feeling the deaths of everyone around through the force and on your soul
We see Yoda falling to his knees when he feels his fellow Jedi being killed. Imagine that multiplied by 1 million. No wonder she cut herself off from the force.
>No wonder she cut herself off from the force.
No, she just lost her powers. She is otherwise a normal female jedi like any other, and she has hots for Revan.
Or that's what Bioware says :)
I know the Exile hates Revan for being a complete edgelord, but why would Revan hate the Exile? For Malachor? Malachor is classic Revan, his only complaint would be that he didn't do it himself
>but nothing much changes
The only person who believes you is when the Sith professor at the very end.
>Ooohhh... you know, I thought you seemed familiar. Plus, you have an unnatural amount of skill for a neophyte. Well, thanks for this show. Go out and take over the galaxy.
>do everything kreia says and become one with the neutrality
>there is no true neutral ending for kotor 2
>it just reverts to light side ending
I'm not sure what I was expecting
But I honestly felt let down
Consular is actually pretty boring in 1. Force regen is low as fuck compared to 2
Also Force Lightning is capped at 10-60 damage which is utter shit, it's far easier to just stun enemies forever with Insanity and hack away
>I'm not sure what I was expecting
It's an Obsidian game so what you should have been expecting is a lackluster ending.
People will tell you some bullshit story about how they were forced to release a decade early and it was deliberately sabotaged by a jealous Bioware and all kinds of crap but the reality is they only released 1 month early and that is only for the xbox version of the game. PC release was still the original release date from when they started development and they were told they were allowed to add more content to that version but Obsidian decided not to because they didn't think it was fair to the people on the xbox, which is fair enough. Regardless, one month left is far too late in the development cycle to still be working on content, especially critical content like the fucking ending.
>tfw just started playing KOTOR 2 and can't bring myself to play any more of it
Does this shit get better? I just got off the mining station with my ebon hawke. I feel like it will get better once I have my lightsaber.
>Decide to run though peragus for old time's sake
>Can't use the console in the hanger when playing as T3
>Can however head down and open up the decontamination chamber
>T3 fucks off in the Hawk while exile, atton and kreia slowly starve to death
Not even the game likes peragus.
Well considering you spend the entire final act freaking out that
she's betrayed you and taken over the sith, it's out of character since you're supposed to trust her whether she's posing as jedi or sith... i mean you should just accept that killing her is a final test to see if you're ready to follow revan
I want to replay this game so badly, but then I remember Taris and how much I despise Taris. When that shit gets bombed into nuclear glass the only regret I had was that Malak couldn't do it twice.
Fuck I hate Taris so much
funny, I hated that they destroyed Taris. felt like it made all the time i spent there worthless. also it just copies ANH and makes it feel like there is a checklist of things you need to put in a Starwars game/movie.
I love peragus I was stuck on peragus for over 4 hours on my initial playthrough of the game on my xbox
>also it just copies ANH and makes it feel like there is a checklist of things you need to put in a Starwars game/movie
you mean like exactly what they did with Episode 7
>mfw I borrowed my xbox to a poorfag friend in 2008 and he sold it in 2010 without asking me first
It's a rehash word by word, scene by scene, dialogue by dialogue, and location by location. It was the most creatively bankrupt work you'll see in years. It wasn't homage, it was just pure fear and playing it extremely safe. Pretty boring, actually.
Yes, quite probably.
Due to Dorin having a unique atmosphere composed of helium and a gas unique to their world, the Kel Dors were forced to wear an antiox breath mask and protective goggles whenever in atmospheres of a different composition. This equipment protected them from carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen, which were fatal to a Kel Dor.
Did I fuck up or something? Level 15 and I wont get the prestige class dialog with kreia. Been banking subsequent level ups since Sentinel my base class doesnt have any bonus feats past 12.
You need to be sufficiently light or dark.
I'm confused by your wording; are you actually level 12 but have 3 levels stored up? If so you can't take a prestige class, you need to actually level yourself to 15.
Maybe someone in here can help me, I've just downloaded this game and it just refuses to fucking work. I can create my character and all that shit but as soon as I press play it just black screens and won't work. Any help?
This appears when I try to run the game. I have the 1.03 patch and running windows xp in compatibility mode.
