If the M16 sucks so bad, why did everyone imitate its design philosophy? Why does is it the second most issued rifle in the world. Sure the first run M16s had terrible reliability, and small mags, but that was fixed even before the US had left Vietnam.

That self cleaning bull they spread effected soldiers in Vietnam before they updated instructions, soldiers weren't even given the tools to clean it. It's insane they gave people what was basically a prototype for combat. But it will always have problems yes because of the way the bolt works.
