I think the new skills, perks, stances and items made the combat much more fun and more builds viable. I also love the fact that you already start as a jedi and no need to hold back your levels, but they fucked it up with 4 companions that can be later turned into jedis without retrospectively gaining powers. I guess none of them would've been adepts anyway, and the perks are more important for combat roles anyway.

You must suck ass at video games.
My first blind playthrough was a soldier-battlemage (whatever it was called, sentinel?) and I had zero problems. The game is piss easy. And I even failed at getting talents because I thought "melee" would contribute towards lightsabres, so I put points into that talent which became utterly useless later on.
I also went with that one-handed talent that gives bit of attack and AC. I'm pretty sure it's a bad talent, but I wanted to RP a Jedi like in the movies, none of that duel wielding stuff.

Do you recommend I play the first game or just jump straight into 2?
Cause KOTOR 1 is ugly as fuck.

In KOTOR 2 you can. Training with Handmaiden gives you access to the skills for unarmed combat, I think.

You can play any build in KOTOR 2 and it will end up OP as fuck by about level 20. Not using a lightsaber would restrict you from being able to use the OP as fuck crystal that you find on Dantooine, though, that levels with you.

The first time there can be pretty tricky. You have to do the things in a certain order and remember the places and the names of the people of the Station. Once you have it it's easy but man the first time you can find yourself running around searching for THAT npc you don't remember where it was.

Did anyone else feel like Nihilus was underutilized? He at least looks like he has all the makings to be some kind of titular badass, and he's on the cover all big, imposing and shit. It's been a while since I played, but I seem to only remember him like a handful of times, and none of it felt really meaningful or left and impact for him. And the whole "Devouring planets" thing did kind of make me roll my eyes.

I forget why he sounds like a clogging drain pipe though. Guess i'll replay and see if my impression of him changes any, have wanted to replay the game anyway.

He's definitely played us as the big villain but that's mostly to hide Kreia.

Although when you actually fight him, you realize that he's not really a person any more, just a galactic vacuum.

You're only able to beat him because Kreia lured him to Telos and there was no Jedi Academy and not much of a population to snack on either.

scoundrel guardian is a terrible idea guy, the force jump and low hit points will get you eaten alive. consular gets force immunity and is basically the same thing except you get like 2 less feats.

soldiers are alright they were my first choice when i played but a lot of the skills are not that useful like heavy armor, scouts get implant and flurry so they're a solid choice.
scoundrel if you're a consular im trying a darkside playthrough should be the best mix of damage from weapons and force. light side works but crit bonus only works on stun and backstab so you gotta be a team player with some of your lackeys.

I'd literally kill a man for remake of both KOTOR 1 and 2. No seriously. If they let me serve my life sentence with a console or PC that just had a full blown remake of KOTOR 1 and 2 on it, I would gladly murder another human being.

The problem with the KOTORs at this point is the fucking combat. It so goddamned atrocious that the only reason to still play it to this day is for the story, dialogue options, and characters. Hell, I don't even think I liked the combat when the game first released.

From what I understand not really.
Very few things advanced a lot, one of them being droids and their capabilities.
On one hand it's understandable as the galaxy seems to be constantly thrown in a dark age because the Sith stop backstabing each other for 5 minutes and launch another goddamn war on the Republic and fuck shit up everywhere.

They can't even fund research because all the money they ever have go to recovery from the war. The moment they are close to finishing the Sith just attack again and again and again and since the damage they do is on planetary scale and can completely fuck up a planet for hundreds of years it's not surprising how crippled the Republic becomes after a war. A farming planet that provides food for 10 other planets just losses 99% of it's production capacity for a few decades? Well that fucks up all the planets tat were relying on the first planet, which affects all the other planets since they have to divert some of their food and so on.

The moment the Sith start doing the whole rule of two things stat actually advancing since no longer would you have to deal with millions of lightsaber wielding little shits that go and wreck hundreds of planets.

Actually look at the history of the Star Wars galaxy and it's pretty easy to sympathise with her viewpoint. So much of it is a chaotic Jedi vs Sith affair with people dying by the billions all due to some hazy destiny laid out by the Force. She's not really an atheist, so much as she's living an atheist's worst nightmare. She lives in a universe with empirical proof that God exists and God appears to be a bloodthirsty lunatic.

Atton's trigger is the scene at Nar Shadaa with those two Twi'lek who talk about him. The Echani training can lead to an influence boost, which helps speed the process, but isn't necessary.

Bao-Dur is straight influence gain, he just doesn't have much dialogue to get influence from so you need to drag him along and do nice things. Again, Nar Shadaa is really good for that. You can get Atton and Bao-Dur both trained up by the time you leave Nar Shadaa really easily, then it's just a few more levels before you can train up Handmaiden.
