You guys are retarded.

Its A
>>
No one argues about this anymore.
It's universally agreed on A.
>>
>>322664905
Considering the way that Portals worked in the game the answer imo is B.
>>
>>322664905
They're both stupid because portals can't be placed on moving surfaces.
>>
It's B

Momentum duh
>>
>>322664905
Arguing about physics like this is retarded anyway, A tear in the universe isn't going to "stick" to a moving surface.
>>
>>322665462
Nice meme
>>
>>322665539
>A tear in the universe isn't going to "stick" to a moving surface.
then why do portals stick to the earth, which is moving?
>>
>>322665382
which also is stupid because everything is in motion

The earth is both moving and not moving until someone looks at the earth from a higher dimension.
>>
>>322665696
They don't stick to the earth because they don't exist.
>>
>>322665345
Yes they can. There's a bit before PotatOS in Portal 2 where you have to put a portal on a moving platform so that the redirected laser cuts through a pipe.

Your move.

>>322664905
That's literally like dropping a hula hoop on top of something, it's clearly A.

Switching is always the better probability. If someone gives you this question, ALWAYS switch.
>>
>>322665462
Place an object on your desk, use your finger and thumb to make a circle, then slam the circle down around the object on your desk.
Does the object go flying off?
>>
>>322665801
i'll stay Bob
>>
>>322665801
I will want to change because the first choice was based off of a 33% chance - If I stay with that choice, it's still only a 33% chance to be the car.
But if I make a new choice, that's a new calculation, and with another new door, it's easily a 50/50.
Some calculation said it's a 66% chance but somehow my mind's saying that's a load of bullshit.
>>
>>322665789
Alternatively, portals (and by association, the Earth) are the only still thing in the universe
>>
>>322666336
Oh it's you again.

THIS. Thank god someone actually drew this. Saved as fuck

portal 2 > portal

assuming 1 is always picked first

1G, 2C, 3G
1C, 2G, 3G
1G, 2G, 3C

yeah, it's obvious
>>
you can actually test this yourself

just get a die and set it on a table, then slam a cardboard tube over it then see what happens

assuming portals could actually exist, the exact same physics would apply

Which one?
We have this dumb thread almost every month
>>
>>322666639
The one who thinks 50+33 equals 100.
>>
>>322666020

Wouldn't work like that. There's literally a wall on the other side of the blue portal. There's not enough friction for it to stay on that slant. It'd end up like OP's image.

>>322666674
https://4ch.be/v/thread/319150517/
>>
>>322665801
Switching is the answer because it's basically saying
You can have door 1, or you can have doors 2 and 3.
>>
>>322665801
statistically speaking, you're more likely to initially pick a goat

switch, duh
>>
>>322666986
Yes, this thread.
We have it every month.
>>
>>322667126
People actually started trying to justify shit with physics and stuff in that one, it was a pretty good show. Also the retards/rusers trying to bring psychology into the Monty Hall problem were hilarious as fuck.
>>
>>322667486
Who cares, it's the same shitty thread we've had literally dozens if not hundreds of times.
Even the best "amerifat vs europoor" thread is still shit.
>>
>>322665801
>two fucking doors
GEE

I wonder what number x is such that 2x = 100

OH THAT'S RIGHT, 50

it doesn't fucking matter
>>
>>322667646
Each thread is always slightly different, the beauty of it is spotting these small differences.
>>
>>322667826
Now try again but with 10000000 doors.
>>
>>322668189
still comes down to two doors
>>
>>322666982
That would only be the case if it is completely submerged in the blue portal, but we can see that is not the case. The box's face-down surface should then obey the static friction on the left hand side of the image. since the normal force is mass * gravity * cos(0) on that side and the angled gravitational force on the right hand side will be mass * gravity * some sinusoidal with an angle > 0, we can assume that the static frictional force will always be greater than the gravitational force pulling on the object from the blue side.

Both illustrations are actually correct, however, since the orange portal only partially engulfs the cube in the image you quoted, but not the original.
>>
I'd ask the goat what door the other goat would say I should go through for freedom and then get a 5
>>
>>322666020

gravity would bring the A side down unless half of the cube or less was through the portal. If more it would kind of fall arseways...
>>
>>322669001

say you have 1,000 doors, you select door #1 and the host reveals doors 2-999 to be goats

would you stick with door #1, or switch to door #1,000?
>>
>>322667826

>I failed elementary math class

Can you even get a job without elementary?
>>
>>322664905
A

the cube has no momentum
>>
>>322670501
Actually I take that back. Only part of the Box's mass is remains on the orange side. It's badly illustrated so it could be 2/3 or 1/3 depending on whether we use the left or right-hand side of the image as a reference. Let's assume it's 2/3 like the left suggests and let u be the coeff of static friction

(2/3) * m * g * u = .66 (m)(g)(u) = frictional force

(1/3) * m * g * sin(pi/4) = 0.2357(m)(g) = force parallel to the surface of the blue side

So in these cases the cube would not fall down the ramp so long as the coefficient of static friction is between 0.3536 and 1. However, let's now assume the cube on the orange side has only 1/3 of its mass exposed.

(1/3) * m * g * u = .33(m)(g)(u) = frictional force

(2/3) * m * g * sin(pi/4) = .4714 = force parallel to the surface of the ramp

The parallel force is now stronger regardless of the surface's coefficient of static friction (since it must always be less than 1) and the object will fall down regardless.
>>
>>322665801
I really don't get how people think it isn't 50/50 when it comes down to two doors.
With 3 doors, you have a 33% chance of getting the car. Now the door with the goat is opened and you narrow your choice down to two doors. Two doors, with one being right, is a 50/50 chance. The only way to get 66% for switching is to include the goat door in the calculation despite knowing its a wrong answer, which doesn't make any sense. You wouldn't pick the goat door at random because you wouldn't pick a knowingly wrong answer.
>>
>>322671481
doesn't matter

50/50
>>
>>322672705
http://www.stayorswitch.com
>>
>A or B
It's A logically, because the portal is moving, not the cube. The cube has no momentum and receives none, since the platform the portal is on hits the platform the cube is on, transferring it between platforms.
>>
>>322672705
kek
>>
If you tried to sex yourself in the bum through a portal it really wouldn't work. Every time you moved back to thrust, your bum would move back to, and you wouldn't get any penetration unless you were in a super tight area, maybe 10 inches across, which would just be uncomfortable.
>>
>>322671481
>>322672869
You guys are so fucking dense holy shit
>>
>>322673096
>I was trolling, honest!
>>
>>322666581
Now, simulate this:
The entrance of the tube moves, the exit does not.

You cannot simulate this in real life, without legit portals.
>>
>>322673045
No.. You wear underwear with a portal on the back, so it moves with you.

Grade school shit anon
>>
>>322673096
but thats how it works anon
>>
>>322673582
Oh, I know. I was just pointing out they're retards for falling for such an obvious troll.
>>
speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out
>>
>>322673045
I'd rather just suck my own cock instead.
>>
>>322671481
Use whatever explanation you want to overcomplicate it, it's a 50/50 chance if you use fucking logic. Switching changes nothing.
>>
>>322673752
Too bad the portal was moving, not the cube.
By our frame of reference.
>>
Neither because moving surfaces can't have portals.
>>
>>322672472
You're forgetting perspective of the portal and how it changes the view of what is inside the portal and on the other side based on the angle of the camera in relation.
>>
>>322665801
DELETE THIS
Monty hall is not for stupid people.

>>322664905
It should be B.
>>
>>322673989
>By our frame of reference
Our reference point doesn't matter, the portal's reference point does.
>>
>>322664905
Hey guys

If you put a portal on two walls exactly across from each other, and the walls moved closer together (think like the trash compactor from star wars) and eventually touched, and you stood in between those two portals, what would happen to you?
>>
>>322675371
I thought portals dissipated on moving surfaces.
>>
>>322675371
Either nothing at all or self telefragging.
>>
>>322675584
Not since Portal 2.
>>
>>322664905
it's neither
you can't have a portal on a moving object
>>
>>322675371
You would be crushed by yourself.
>>
>>322665801
You always lose if you switch
The show host wants you to lose, so if he offers you the option to change doors, is because you choose the right one, if you choose the wrong one he'll just say that you lose
>>
>>322665801
Stay with the door to the left.

There is a goat ass being the middle one. C'mon people this is ez
>>
>>322678512
>I've never played Portal 2
>>
>>322678512
But everything is moving. At all times.
>>
>>322664905
It's B. If you think it's A you are a retard who doesn't understand the concept of reference frames.

t. physics major
>>
>>322665345
Considering the way Portals worked in the game, it's neither.

The yellow portal would disappear as soon as the surface it was on started moving.
>>
>no airplane treadmill yet

Step up your game sempai.
>>
>>322665801
There's 100 doors.
You pick door 27.
The host reveals all doors except 27 and 82.
Would you switch?
>>
>>322678969
The host has to assume youre thinking exactly that too, so he might be faking you out and using reverse psychology

Also you still lose when you win the big prize, because you have to pay taxes on all of it
>>
>>322672576
That's precisely why.

It's not even a choice of doors, it's a choice to switch. You can stay with your 33% or bet that the car is among the other two doors, one of which just happens to have been shown to be a goat already.
>>
>>322679758
Oh man, that's a classic.
>>
>>322679945
Yeah but you have to assume he knows that you probably assume to know what he thinks you're thinking, and furthermore, that he knows you would.
>>
>>322678969
If he did that then no one would ever switch because it'd be a dead giveaway.
