Is Dragon's Dogma any good?
Or is it FOTM here because of the PC release?
every game that doesnt have mp is fotm, yes
its good. people use the term "dmc combat" too much, it isn't really like that. its like a jrpg where you have to do the combat yourself instead of selecting stuff on a menu.
your class special moves are the equivalent of techs/skills. it barely has any story though. pretty fun, get it.
It's good. Not as good as the shill wants you to believe it is, but still good.
The best way to describe Dragon's Dogma is to say it's a Japanese western RPG.
It has the open world of a western RPG, but with the flashy looking combat of a Japanese ones. Elder Scrolls meets Monster Hunter in a way.
It's a fantastic game that was exclusive to PS3 so understandably there is hype right now surrounding the PC release.
The combat is solid, there is plenty of build freedom as everything is viable, the character creator has a ton of depth, pawn system is great, switching classes on the fly is great as well. Plenty of places to explore, and shit to do. Nice replayability.
My only gripe really is that there wasn't as much variety as i'd like to have had - skills, environments, enemies. The expansion really did a wonderful job addressing some of those issues. The PC release will undoubtedly have mods to address everything else.
It's hailed on /v/ for good reason. It's legitimately a good game.
It's biggest issues are framerate and resolution, both of which should be fixed by the PC version.
The other flaws are mostly minor; the lack of a plot is fine as-is, and since it's including DA you'll get the eternal ferrystone which fixes the biggest gameplay issue of walking everywhere and the tedium of encountering the same sets of bandits and goblins along the roads every single trip
I honestly don't get why /v/ spergs all over it, probably the lolis.
Enemies are just damage sponges to a ridiculous degree, the world is average at best and the gameplay is typical hack and slash. The only real difference is the ability to mount creatures and crawl around them like some sort of retarded spider whose lost their sense of direction.
There was a shit ton of discussion when the game came out. Even more after Dark Arisn was released. The game is almost universally loved here, but I can understand why some people don't like it.
You have no idea what a damage sponge is you useless mong.
A difficult enemy who doesn't go down the first time you've ever seen one in two hits doesn't make it a damage sponge.
We are all low level at one point in the game you know. Those first 4 or so ogres you fight are pretty ridiculous in how tough hey are to kill. Especially with no decent weaknesses.
I know that DMC runs very well on PC and that MT Framework in general is a very optimized engine but i would still rather try it before buying it. Unless they start releasing more benchmarks.
This really. Dragon's Dogma was a pretty ambitious game that ultimately got gutted to hell by Capcom but someone still managed to be a fun and charming game. One huge issue the game had was it was held back by consoles, do you know what it's like to use a Great Cannon on the Ur Dragon and get single digit frame rates?
No, low level like fighting a boss which you supposed to beat at lvl 20-+ when you only 10 because you keep running away from enemies or wandered in the wrong neighborhood or didn't buy that weord and armor because "muh money mih luck". It keep happening with me from time to time in RPGs.
JP Coils of Light >>>>>>> ENG Coils of Light ENG Voices > JP Voices
Stop filling him with false hope Anon.
MT framework is absolutely no guarantee that the game will run on a toaster. Will it run well? Sure. But DMC4 well? No, I seriously doubt it.
DMC4 PC port was very much lightning in a jar, it was made on an extremely PC optimized engine and it was before Japan really understood the bar of quality expected for PC ports.
No other MT framework port runs even close to as well as DMC4 if I remember. They all run GOOD, but not ridiculously great like DMC4. DMC4SE is an absolute system hog by comparison.
>mfw just pre-ordered using my mom's credit card
Whatever, you get the idea. I don't really follow consoles, all I remember is that anons praised the game a lot.
tell me /v/;
i didn't play souls series because of retarded hitboxes. i don't need extra rage. i wanna legit, hard, nice fights, not retarded "artifical difficulty". can this game give me what i want?
Holy shit why are people so fucking idiotic and keep spreading this "It's MT Framework so it will work on literal toasters" meme? Dragon's Dogma has nothing to do with the other MT Framework games.
>tfw still no word of a western DDO release.
>also have a gtx560
>Mystic Knight retains his bullet time stopping powers in PC whenever he goes full cuhrazy with his spells.
Really? I got my key right on my receipt after I paid for it.
No idea, but I hope there is pre-load for those with shit internet.
Game still needs a lot of work, I'd rather wait to get more fleshed out vocations/advanced vocations and such.
I want a Moon Dungeon to be like the Library of Babel.
The Everfall was kind of like that.
Someone make a Jacqli Pawn quick, I want to see what she looks like in the BBI grave robes.

It's a very ambitious game that falls short of what the original design was supposed to be.
There are a lot of flaws to the game, but I would still call it an unpolished gem of a game, especially if you like fantasy and adventure.
A lot of the HUGE problems with the game though were the fact that it was unoptimized as fuck on consoles and you were forced to play the game with those two black bars on top and bottom which was fucking infuriating that you couldn't turn them off.
The combat also gets extremely repetitive if you are doing a melee build, which is disappointing because the game design lead is the guy who made DMC3 and 4. I was expecting maybe more attack variations, even Dynasty Warriors games has more attack animations.
Meh, don't play it for the combat like Dark Souls. Play it for the sense of adventure and dungeoning with your weird 4th dimensional robot clone freak waifus/husbandus that you create and share.
The combat can get repetitive, but it's still fun in a sort of old-school way where how you use your attacks matter.
It's not like you can take a Fighter and mindlessly mash Dragon's Maw, even a Warrior spamming Arc has to use it properly rather than mindlessly.
I guess Sorcs could be mindless with Focused Bolt, but they have plenty of options so no reason to do that to yourself. Dunno about Rangers/Striders though.
