What's your highest population count? Mine is 1100
Also general discussion of the series.
One thing I find strange is that the surest way to achieve a game over is to build a military base on your island and then convert to the opposite ideology. It's even in the manual that this is a game over.
In real life, in Cuba; it's inspiration, there's a big American military base on it, yet they never invaded the rest of the island, even though Castro was surely pissing off the Americans worse than any Tropico player who builds the military base and then goes turncoat. Is this bad game design or what?
the people are revolting
but it's only the ghetto of unemployables

>Build a ton of hotels and free housing
>they build a bunch of shacks anyway
>regular tropicans literally build a shack a few feet away from a free house
What even is wrong with these fuckers?

Why the fuck would you even get to the point to build more than 2 of those ugly shits.
They re nests of nignogs and other filth.
Every time I try to get apartments as fast as I can and end up with free housing anyway.
Loss of money is reduced due to no-crime and no fucking shacks.

those people aren't poor. you can tell that just by looking at their feet.
that contrast isn't cheap.
which game is currently the best?
>>322619527
1 is good if you like old isometric games, 4 is the best all around game out of the newer games from 3 to 5.
>>322619527
All have their merits.
3 is basically a downgrade of 4 though.
2 is shit but unique.
1 4 and 5 are all good in different ways.
>>322619668
>4 better than 5
what makes 5 so bad then?
>>322619312
it's called the ghetto. the system is that the poor live in squalor, the workers get apartments or houses and the rich get mansions and condos.
>>322619725
5 has a focus of moving through the eras, plus it doesnt have forced labour camps like 4.
Personally I prefer 5, but 1 is great too.
>>322619725
Long story short it's missing a few things 4 had and didn't significantly improve anything to make up for the admittedly small amount of lost shit. Also I think graphically the games are close to identical and nothing else really changes or improves on an aesthetic level.
It kind of like the difference between Civ 4 and five, except that game was an improvement in graphical/aesthetic ways at least.

4
>>322619725
Not the person you're responding to, but 5 took out a lot of the stuff I liked in 4 (not many memorable advisors, everything that was done with penultimo, the presidente voice actor sounding worse in 5, not able to control the presidente as much compared to 4) and had very few improvements over the previous game.

civ 4 and 5 tend to be viewed as sidegrades which are different but equal
same thing with tropico?
>>322620034
I always thought Tropico 5 looked much nicer graphically, aesthetically, if not just plain technically.
The rest is on the money though, I do miss some of the removed features.
The rest is on the money though.
ya'll presidentes don't even take pics
