>if you spend too long walking around the offices at the start of the game, the hostages in the first mission can be killed BEFORE YOU EVEN START THE MISSION, causing to you to miss out on many potential rewards
jesus christ, what an unnecessary dick move
he doesn't specify that someone will die, and furthermore that is the only point in the game when you are placed on a timer
Sarif nags you throughout the game on the intercom, but there are only negative consqeuences at the very start, when a new player will be taking their time and looking around... genius design choice
>game tries to be realistic and logical
Blame reality faggot
I'm more bothered by the fact that it seems to be the only instance where this happens. It subverts your expectation that the "get to da helipad" thing is an inconsequential reminder but then follows suit throughout the rest of the game.
DXHR isn't reality, it's a videogame
as a videogame, it should give you some idea of the consequences of your actions, especially at the very start of the fucking game, before it has even offered you a tutorial
finding out 5 hours in that you missed out on thousands of XP and an extra sidequest just makes you want to stop playing
I don't remember this. I hacked into every computer I could, checked every office and room, basically did a completionist run the first time I played it. Still managed to save every hostage.
Do you just need to take a substantial amount of time fucking around?
>it should give you some idea of the consequences of your actions
it does. "hurry up before these people die". just because other games dont actually punish you when they say shit like that doesnt make DXHR the bad guy because you dont know how to listen.
>thousands of xp at the start of the game
>Told to hurry up
>Don't hurry up
>Game punishes you for it
How dare the game attempt to push for more realism and immersion by not letting you crawl around in the office vents all day while hostages are being held.
it takes like 10-15 minutes
you get one prompt from Sarif at the halfway point, and then the hostages die
the worst part is that the game never explicitly tells you that the hostages died because of your actions
>building is on fire and I should do something about it
>naw, gotta finish this burger first
>WHY DIDN'T THE FIRE WAIT FOR ME JESUS CHRIST WHAT AN UNNECESSARY DICK MOVE!
>"hurry up before these people die"
it doesn't say that though, it just says "hurry" without giving you any idea what will happen of you don't, which makes it seem even more like a totally empty threat given that, in every other videogame, prompts like that can be ignored
>the game never explicitly tells you that the hostages died because of your actions
>all the npcs just trash talk to you telling you how you fucked up
BUT IT WAS NOT MY FAULT
I did let them die and found out afterwards. Was a little annoyed but whatever. It was definitely too early to throw something like that at you without indicating there were actual consequences. Would be cool later in the game though.
Happened to me and I thought it was really cool. It makes you understand you can actually fuck up and miss things
Who told you the mission hadn't begun ?
>actions have consequences
>developers implement this into their game
>it's not fair I should be allowed to fuck around looking at shit I will be able to explore an hour later
maybe you should pull that dildo out of your faggot ass op before you get even more butthurt
Do you forget to breath sometimes ?
I loved when the heli-jet gets shot down over Shanghai and Malik is stuck inside. You are constantly told to just run away and leave, rightly so as the odds against you are ridiculous and Bell Tower have some serious weaponry there.
On my first play through I did run and that was that, until you see Malik's body being harvested for her augments.
My second play through I had upgraded the revolver with exploding rounds (totally op, no need for any other weapon in the game), I had loads of ammo and decided to kill all of them. I managed to save Malik and felt like da baws. I was hoping for some malik pussy for saving her ass, or at least a little head, nope. I think you get some bonuses? I can't remember.
