Just started playing this gem again, been years since I played it before. I got the ultimate edition this time as well as I haven't done any of the DLC stuff before. Any tips or things to look out for before I get into it?
When I played there was a bug with my characters armour, he was wearing an additional chest piece of armour that I couldn't take off and was invisible in the inventory screen. It gave my character massive defense but I couldn't figure out what was causing it for a long time, this may have been fixed as I played years ago lol.

be a blood mage and get spellweaver, it's the dankest shit
You can't just chill out and grind monsters and it really rustled my gaming experience so I stopped playing pretty early into it

This was my biggest gripe as well. Enemies don't respawn. Ever.

Be a dorf noble.
Best storyline. Next to lewd female city elf.

I didn't like that also.
The best part of the game was playing the Golems DLC on nightmare with a default character. If you kill the Harvester, you start Origins with a mace that you can sell for 350 gold.
That was also the highlight of the entire series for me. Hardest battle by far, but doable. Every little detail needed to be micromanaged, and even then there were a lot of failed attempts until he went down.

Play Mage, it's the most fun and useful class to use.
Specializations (those are basically advanced classes) are unlocked universally across profiles. That means, when you come across a situation in a castle that requires going into someone's dreams to stop an army of the dead, make sure you go in yourself. Then, accept the demon's offer and request power. This will unlock Blood Mage, the best and most fun specialization. Then just load up your file from before you accepted going in, you can then get the "good" ending to that path while still having Blood Mage.
Then, if you want to be invincible, take Arcane Warrior. It's not anymore fun than any other specialization, but it's broken as hell when used with Blood Mage.
Some good spells are:
Cone of Cold
Haste
Crushing Prison
Force Field
Sleep
Heal

But grinding is the most god awful thing an RPG can ever do to you.
i don't think i would be able to replay it, i loved playing it but it took me like 130 hours to finish it
Morrigan and Merrill are best girls

I've gone with warrior, a tank build basically. Though I'll look into mage and what you said, as this seems interesting
