Is there any reason to get a ps2 slim over a ps2 fat?
Wanna buy one because I haven't use one since like 2006 and I'm planning to mod it and all.

It's pretty amazing how small they were able to get the Ps2 slim compared to other slim products.
is there a way to use the online adapter still with new servers like nintendo did?
get the fat one
slim will have problems with its disc drive

Alright thanks. it won't have problems running games released later on in its cycle, right?

Slim's have worse lasers/disc drive, but some old fat version had even worse.
You can easily hook up HDD with fat+na. Usb on Slim are 1.0 or 1,5 so they are too slow. There were some modifications that allowed to connect HDD, but I wouldnt bother.
All in all just get decent computer and emulate games you want to play.
The newer slims cant be exploited. Go fat
I got a fat one in 2002. Still working w/ my old school MGS/NFS/GTA collection.

>can't be exploited
Yes they can, they just require 2 pieces of plastic.
Slims are pretty poorly made. 2 of mine shit themselves but my phat is still kickin

yeah i overheat my slim pretty easily.. tho that was mainly my fault for leaving games running for 15 hours

Slim fucking sucks. Haven't used it since it can't read half my fucking games and the tray cover hinge broke so it keeps thinking its open. My Fat Ps2 is on its last legs but its still running since December 2002.
There are 2 different slim models.
The one in pic related is the good one. The one with the single stripe is the one that people bitch about because of overheating and stuff.
Sony's hardware have never been durable though, people who have working fat PS2s in 2016 are lucky.
I've been through 5 PS2s, 2 fat and 3 slims since 2001.

Slim has an issue where after a while, the ribbon cord for the laser will pop up into the disc area, scratching your discs and damaging the ribbon. A relatively easy fix, supposedly, but not worth the hassle imo.
